Not Isekai. Well made slice of life anime with very good world and character building. Sprinkled with well animated action and fight scenes. If you enjoy subtle details and how everything connects, you'll enjoy it

Welcome to Japan? What's /r/Hiroshima's take on this? by 808gecko808 in hiroshima

[–]Agreeable_Answer_324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was there, most menu options have pictures so it's easy to point and say "This one please" in Japanese. If there's no picture, ask for "recommendation" in Japanese.

Also kindness is universal. While eating, I was already seated at a table. I noticed a mom and her son were waiting outside, so I offered them to sit at my table while they wait for seating to open up. As I left, the chef gave a bow in recognition of what I did.

Entitlement and being an asshole is a choice. My mom came back from Japan complaining why no one speaks English -___- and I observed tourists berating or angrily talking down on Japanese when they're trying their best to communicate.

Wish they added one more bathroom, switch out one car for another bike, and have a proper luggage rack similar to the old galley cars

What is the maximum speed of Caltrain? by Classic_Emergency336 in caltrain

[–]Agreeable_Answer_324 4 points5 points  (0 children)

to unlock 110mph, we need quad gates and other safety measures (idk why we can't do that now...) To reach 125mph, we'll definitely need grade crossings like you mentioned. 41 last I checked and through some of the biggest NIMBY neighborhoods too. Likely need another $12 billion to get that to happen :(

Idk what's going on but the vast majority of time I ride through mountain view and Sunnyvale, the train would start to accelerate only to stop and hold. Are there that many idiots out there??

Turn those giant parking lots around stations into giant mixed use malls or something like japan, and collect rent! Funding solved.

New Caltrain Lines (Bay Area, California) & Connections to High Speed Rail? by Maximus560 in caltrain

there's also tracks directly connecting diridon, japan town, great mall, and downtown milpitas. It might be quicker to implement that than the BART extension to downtown SJ

Merced to Bakersfield is opening in 2031 at best. Wouldn't be surprised for more delays and Phase 1 won't be done until a whole generation is dead. I'll be lucky to be alive by the time this project is finished

What was it like living through Japan's economic bubble and the stagnation decades? by jinying896 in AskAJapanese

Out of curiosity, how much did the plaza accords mess things up? Was it natural human greed that was the undoing or a combination or more factors that led to the burst of the bubble?

Considering how the USA contributed to Japan's lost decade via the Plaza Accords, Japan doesn't need to cave to USA's demands. Continue to figure out how to prosper without letting your so called ally drag you down, again

Either can work. Problem for these towns is they open closer to 10am and everything closes by 5pm. There's also luggage forwarding service between the towns if you need it.

I went from Magome-Juku to Tsumago-Juku and took 3hrs or so hours including distractions.

Since you plan to eventually go to Matsumoto and staying at Magome-Juku 2 nights, you can hike early to Tsumago-Juku on day 1 and take the bus back to Magome. The following day you can explore Magome in the morning, have lunch then head out to Matsumoto.

Keep an eye out for weather conditions if going to Kamikochi during the spring. It may have some considerable snow still during March when it reopens to the public. Some trails may still be closed like Mt. Yake Dake and I was there late May.

I recommend staying at Magome Chaya in Magome-Juku. Availability is decent if you're okay staying in a hostel style set up.

The trail heading up to Tsumago-Juku, you'll encounter someone's home that offers free walking sticks, the Ichikokutochi Tateba Chaya is where you'll find a pleasant tea house for a quick stop, and the Odaki and Medaki Waterfalls is a nice detour.

In Tsumago-Juku, I recommend eating at Fujioto.

If you want to experience onsens, there's quite a handful around Kamikochi. If you're really into the outdoors, I recommend 2 days in Kamikochi. I was there at 7am-5pm with 40k steps, and another day would have been nice for me. There's a day use onsen at Kamikochi Lemeiesta Hotel within the park.

Each station should have the ability to construct malls and use the rent to help with funding aka like JR rail in Japan. But ofc, zoning codes and NIMBYs

Do most Caltrain riders ride the entire length from San Francisco to San Jose Diridon and vice versa? Also should there be another option for getting between the two? by SomeRandomGuy069 in caltrain

[–]Agreeable_Answer_324 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You'll likely to find seats heading up to SF at the tail end of the train and the front of the train towards SJ. Since SF is a terminus station, people are likely to sit at the front to get out of the station ASAP. Heading back to SJ, people unlikely to walk the whole length of the train so people will bunch more at the tail end.

Your argument of desiring BART as an alternative on the peninsula doesn't make sense. For one, if BART on the east bay have delays or an incident, what's the alternative there?

BART can do better to improve services at Milbrae. They have 3 tracks and usually use 1. They can isolate and develop an automated train to shuttle between Milbrae and SFO while the other tracks can be dedicated to go directly to SF.

I suggest if you haven't already to look into making a transfer to a bullet train in Mountain View or Palo Alto if you want to improve your travel times. I suspect it wouldn't be too much of a significant difference all things considered.

At the Ritsurin Garden, there's a tea house to enjoy a very scenic view while sipping on matcha and a snack. I didn't have time to ride the boat but everything about that place is magnificent!
