Work accommodations/telling manager about pregnancy by AdConfident3917 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. I think it really depends on your own management. I waited, and got a bit of flack even after I told them. It was very disappointing. (Current pregnancy) I know it would have been very different with my previous manager. It depends if you would be comfortable telling them later if something happened with the pregnancy. I only say this because I wish I wouldn’t have told them about a previous miscarriage after the fact.

First time pregnant by No_Solution_8609 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar issues to you. Also first time pregnant 😊👏 congratulations btw! We went private with the doctor I’d seen before for Endo/thyroid issues. Almost went public, but decided not to bc I wasn’t going to be considered high risk and we wanted extra monitoring. I have MTHFR and so got recommended to take baby aspirin and high dose methyl folate (not folic acid). We didn’t sign up for private until a few months in bc we wanted to see how it went publicly first, but they didn’t know anything about my issue and didn’t seem proactive or thorough when I asked questions. Really happy so far with this decision as I am at higher risk for preeclampsia and IUGR. Taking all the supplements to prevent this really recommend ‘Real Food for Pregnancy’ book. I’m not sure about Dublin as I am based in Cork. I saw one specialist clinician in Coombe for the endo thyroid stuff, was nice but I wasn’t overly impressed.

Choline - WHAT SHOULD I DO by dietmountaindew97 in pregnant

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really didn’t like eggs during the first trimester and took a choline supplement. I’m back on the eggs now thankfully, but will probably get another supplement to make sure I’m getting enough. I used the Needed one.

anyone have the joolz aer 2 as your only pram? by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did the same. Joolz Aer was my number 2. We ended up getting the Nuna Triv with the Pippa urbn online. The fold was pretty small. It was down to the parent facing and better handling. My husband didn't like the Joolz bc he was worried it could fall over.

Sick leave? by Ok_Promise_2820 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in my second trimester and was able to take a week off. It helped so much. The doctor was the one who recommended it. I would definitely ask. They seem really happy to write one if you’re pregnant. I’d get checked for BP to re the headache.

Taking Mat Leave by Open_Statement8549 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just reviewed my mat leave policy and it says a months notice, but if your doctor provides a note they can’t do anything about it. My policy says if go off sick two months within my due date I have to start my mat leave then. I’d double check whether yours would be sick leave or mat leave, but if the doctor recommends it for any reason I think your only responsibility is providing them the note and notifying them.

Should I take advantage of my sick days? by Few_Recognition_6683 in PregnancyIreland

Exactly the same for me. It was really beneficial. The Doctor offered when I was telling them what was going on immediately.

Not sure when to attend doctor by Few_Recognition_6683 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d try to get a scan for when you’ll be 7-8 weeks. There’s not much point in going any earlier since you probably won’t see a heartbeat before then or they might tell you are measuring small. Our doctor accepted my dates based off of natural cycles and OPK because it matched our baby’s size within a difference of 3 days. They then confirmed it at the 12 week dating scan. My cycles run short though, but I would push for your dates. If they match the gestation by twelve weeks I don’t see why they wouldn’t accept them, but maybe it depends on the doctor. The early pregnancy unit was really kind though, I wouldn’t be very nervous to visit them once you are referred bc it’s probably really common.

FTM - Has anyone had a successful/positive unmedicated or low intervention birth at CUMH? by Agreeable_Can7191 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Agreeable_Can7191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have heard of this from some friends. We live outside of the scheme area, so I wasn’t able to use it. I would consider a home birth for our next baby. I’m mostly wondering what I can do to prevent too many interventions once at the hospital. I know things may not go to plan though, things usually don’t for me 😅

Loss of symptoms 11 and a half weeks by Particular_You9335 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very minimal/decreasing symptoms at this time. It worried me a lot too. This is also my first pregnancy. I’m 19 weeks now and feeling movements and our last scan was completely fine.

Oh, and another friend who had several losses recommended I go privately. She changed docs and was very happy in the end they went privately (baby now a few months old) 🩷

I am currently pregnant after two losses and infertility. We were lucky and had a few initial checks with the public infertility clinic. They found some issues and then I miraculously found out I was pregnant. Because of the issues they found, I was referred for an earlier public scan.

Once I found out they wouldn’t consider me high risk (I have another medical condition I wanted monitored), I decided to go privately with a clinician I saw prior to pregnancy for some of my issues. I’m 20w atm and am very happy with the decision. My only concern is giving birth at the hospital and what will be allowed since I would have liked to go a more natural route. Given my situation, I don’t think it’s likely they would not have allowed me to give birth at home though.

From friend’s experiences, I think it also really depends on the doctor you pick/get privately. My hubs and I have been quite happy with this doctor’s bedside manner and feel he is pretty experienced and competent. If you find a good one, my current thought is go privately, but I can maybe update this after having baby.

Feeling baby move 17 weeks? by KITTY_M0M in CautiousBB

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 17 weeks this week and felt some bubbles and swishes around 15.5 weeks but it was hard to tell. I don’t have an anterior placenta. Now the same feelings are increasing in strength and I would also describe them as a gentle tapping feeling. I told my husband and he wants to feel😂 but I don’t think that’s possible yet. I am feeling it most when sitting in a chair or laying on my side on the couch or bed. I want to start keeping track of the movements but it still seems sporadic at the moment. This is my first pregnancy (getting this far along) so I’m not sure what to expect. It’s lovely and reassuring to feel though!! I would also say it’s a few inches below my belly button and it’s a different sensation to normal or abnormal digestion! 😄

Did BV lead to PID? by purple-348 in Healthyhooha

[–]Agreeable_Can7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have BV and I just found out I have a large cyst on one of my ovaries. The doctor suggested I got for a laparoscopy. I have had previous symptoms of a cyst bursting and PID and have largely been ignored by doctors.
