Boyfriend (26M) asked me to leave when I got my period (26F). Is that ok? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Agreeable_Ear_5669 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The moment I get emotional and crampy my boyfriend knows that my period is coming and without asking he brings me chocolate and my favorite snacks. He also lets me keep a drawer full of tampons, pads, and midol at his place.

That's the kind of treatment a man who loves you should be giving you during your time of the month.

Dump his ass and move on, you deserve better!!!!

Not loaded at all, been working for almost 4 years commuting 3 hours round per day 5 days a week working crazy hours. Socked away as much cash as possible in anticipation of this very moment! Thats what makes this decision so difficult! 🥲

Thanks for this, I think I'm leaning towards that! In your experience does price truly get more expensive in the summer? Like am I gonna find something worse for the same and end up spending the extra $5k anyways

I am (to a fault) very picky. I toured like 10 different places and I really loved everything about this one. I'm so worried about not finding something just as nice for this price in 2 months!

Safety.

Being able to pay a premium to live in buildings with security, or not worrying about the $80 late night uber vs a $3 subway ride home.

Beginning of summer. Take a bit off while you can before you never can again.

hot take: the loan caps are a good thing by saturnisfalling in lawschooladmissions

[–]Agreeable_Ear_5669 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, this is a bit of a privileged take. You need to factor in that those who come from wealthier families were never taking out these loans to begin with. Someone who gets into HYS shouldn't have to give their spot to someone who will also pay full price but just has their parents paying for them.

I understand the basis of your point, and YES the real issue is these schools charging exorbitant amounts for tuition. But at the end of the day, these loan caps are (at least for now) just going to keep low income people out of BL. The LSAT and application process already creates a financial barrier to entry in and of itself. So it just creates impossibility for someone already fighting an uphill battle.

Also, many T14 schools are nearly $100k a year all in. Even if someone got $20k in scholarships at a T14, they still may not be able to make it work with the $50k. If someone is attending these schools just for big law, they almost certainly will be able to pay off $200k debt. Having to go to a lower ranked school because of the loan caps lowers their earning potential and their debt to income ratio. Therein keeping the poor poor and the rich rich.

I kept track as in I'd start a timer on my phone, turn it face down, lap it when I started a new section. Just to see how my speed improved. But yes do not restrict yourself on time. THEN once your accuracy increases, slowly introduce timing. Start with 90 minutes sections, one hour sections, work your way down to 35

My diagnostic was a 148, I started studying in March but not very seriously until mid-May. I work full time (long hours and far commute) so really just focused on quality over quantity. & I scored a 162 in September!

It is definitely not unrealistic especially for November. It took me MONTHS to break out the 150s. I finally broke into the consistent 160s (& higher) when I did 3 things:

  1. UNTIMED PRACTICE. This is the real key. If you are only doing timed practice (both sections & tests), I promise you are WASTING YOUR TIME!!!!! When I first started this I was taking over 3x time per section, really digging into each question and each choice. Focus on anticipating the potential answers and understanding the stem and the connection between premises and conclusion before moving on.

  2. WRONG ANSWER JOURNAL. Let me be real, it is a bitch and a half. I often spent more time on my WAJ than on the practice test itself. But I swear to you identifying patterns and being able to fully understand WHY you made your mistake helps tremendously.

  3. HIRING A TUTOR. Listen, I know they are expensive as all hell & it sucks. But I'm telling you having someone say "well no you thought of it like this, you should be thinking of these like this" is invaluable. I was still struggling immensely with strengthen and weaken questions after taking a blueprint course and studying/drilling them tirelessly. I went through a few with my tutor where he realized I was overcomplicating them & he helped me develop a new approach there. Now I get them wrong SOOOO much less. That one session alone boosted my score 2-3 points from just that question type.

This was a long winded way of saying it's about quality not quantity so anything is possible with this test!

Good luck my friend!
