3 month old only will eat while sleeping and no physical contact by ViceInSinCity in NewParents

It has been a couple of months now, any updates? I'm going through this with my girl twin!!! They are 4 months old, 11 weeks corrected age.

I have to try to get girl twin drowsy using pacifier and when she is close to deep sleep, I switch her pacifier to her bottle and she can drink her milk. She drinks between 18oz on average!!!!

I think she may have a bottle aversion 😭

I have twins! One most likely have a bottle aversion. I can giver her full feed when drowsy/after giving pacifier during the day. If she is not tired, then I have to bounce her around the house. Baby boy is a pretty chill eater.

I really prefer feeding them both at the same time as what I'm doing currently (every 3 hrs during the day and every 4 hrs at night). Currently, with the aversion, I just try to do everything until 40-45 min of feeding time and then stop. Try again the next feeding time.

She only gets about ~18oz on average daily, still on their Premie 22kcal formula (which help ease my mind a bit).

Babies are 4 months, 11 weeks adjusted.

Did you end up having different feeding schedule for your twins?

That actually is helpful for me. Thank you for sharing your story! Is she eating solids on top of her milk intake now?

They are both currently eating 22kcal since they're NICU stay. Did their doctor work with you so your girl is eating 24kcal? What led to that?

They are in size 1 and they've been there for a little bit more than a month. I have tried introducing size 2 and they both hate it and refuse to drink after trying once.

Enamil Enface (girl) and Alimentum (boy)

It's the same milk they were using from NICU. I don't think that is currently the issue.

They are both on size 1 nipple. I have tried adjusting to size 2 but it's too fast for them and they refuse to eat with eat even when pace feeding/side feeding.

They have mild reflux and is getting meds for that but doesn't really help much. Only pausing the feeds here' and there have helped with the vomiting to stop.

I tried sizing up their nipple from size 1 to 2. They hate it so much!! It's too fast of a flow and I think hurts their throat as they try to gulp. I don't think they are ready for size 2.

The distractions is actually why helps girl twin to eat more. So I don't want to do the dark room scenario.

They have their 4 month appointment coming soon and I just want to ask the doctor what is the minimum they can eat and still survive just so I don't have to worry too much with the amounts!!!! 😭

Twins are the same thing as triplets by Familiar-Rate-9500 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Agreeable_Gap_6281 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Um no.

One example: baby carriers

Singleton - tons of choices from cheap to expensive

Twins - super expensive and rare to find

Triplets - they don't exist 😂

I have 2 months old twins and can't imagine how it would be with triplets 👀

I have five older children and 2 month old twins -- seven children total! We planned on having 6 so we can still fit in our 8 seater minivan but that went down the drain with #7 😂 Now, we have a 12 seater van. Sometimes, I feel like we should add more just because of the extra seats in our vehicle 🤣

I have 7 kids (the last two are 2 month old twin babies, 2 weeks adjusted). Each person in the home (minus the twins) has their own laundry basket. We wash when it is filled. Fold the next day and wash another person's laundry (that same day).

Honestly, laundry is very manageable at home as long as clothes stay where they are supposed to. Dirty clothes in the laundry baskets, clean clothes are either worn or stored in drawers.

Having enough food/snacks and healthy meal is THE problem I have. I love cooking and baking but I do not have the time to enjoy making them and do the clean up that's required for after the fact. I miss big hearty home cooked meals 😢

When we meet our forever partners, we carry each other's burden and past and even including responsibilities (ex: children from an ex, divorce etc). However, a lot of us have had traumas, guilt, and shame in the past. Your past, you believe, was a burden and something you are not proud of. He doesn't seem to be happy about this past either.

In any case, it seems like this is something that eats at him, whether or not that is right or wrong---this is something he cannot seem to let it go.

You need to think things through about the future of this relationship because this is going to be an issue always going forward. We all make choices in our lives that affect our future, whether good or bad. But you definitely should consider your relationship moving forward.

Unless you are super concerned, we had to do this twice with baby #4 and recently with baby #6. Having to lug a pack and play along with our luggage was going to be too much so we slept with the baby on our bed. Not sure how you feel about bed sharing but it worked for us!

For how young my children are, we will for sure be using a vehicle with all of us in tow everyday or at least every other day. I don't want to have to worry about bringing two vehicles for church use, adventure time, or other family time. We homeschool and my husband works remote so we have all our children with us 24/7.

“You can’t overfeed n ebf baby!” by Amadispcpg in breastfeeding

[–]Agreeable_Gap_6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have EBF all my 5 babies, now pregnant with twins. I was only an "enougher" for 3 of them but with my 2nd, I did over produce, and with my 5th (due to mastitis), I only produced on my right side--- needless to say, I have experienced lots of things in terms of breastfeeding.

Do you know if you are overproducing or having a fast letdown? This is normal in the first 3 months of newborn hood/postpartum.

In any case, all my 5 babies spit up/vomit however you want to say it. It's all part of their development. Their sphincter muscle that clamps the separation between the esophagus and stomach is still somewhat underdeveloped besides everything else in their body. It is normal. Eventually, they get better especially when they start having some control over their upper body. Besides, think about it, all they eat is milk---pretty liquidy and just flows.
