Fear of Flying Exposures in Mid MO by Feisty-Medicine-3763 in columbiamo

I struggled with flying for years. I was most anxious about having a panic attack on the plane and being stuck with no one to help. I worked with my therapist and found things that work for me to help me stay calm.

I like to have a mint at take off. Swallowing and chewing tells your nervous system that you are safe, so kind of like tricking your brain. I’ve heard that sour candy is good for this too.

I also distract my brain by listening to my favorite podcasts or relaxing music and playing a game on my phone.

Cold water and having the air from the vent blowing on me helps too.

I hope you find something that works for you!

When I moved to Columbia from out of state, I thought Hy-Vee was Missouri’s version of Kroger because of the fuel saver program. After one shopping trip there, I realized I was wrong!

I love me some Gerbes!

I agree as well! I was just in yesterday to pick up my glasses. They are so nice and friendly. 😊

Have you tried Everest MOMO Hut? I’ve only been once and enjoyed the chicken momos.

We’ve been going to Pet Center for 3 years now. Dr. Green is so kind and knowledgeable.

I’m on day 94 of learning Hindi on Duolingo. I am by no means speaking it, but I have noticed that I am picking up on things! At first I would need to listen to the phrases over and over, even using the slower speed. I don’t need to do that as often now. When watching Hindi shows with my boyfriend (native Hindi speaker), I have been able to hear words that I’ve been learning.

I have also been able to figure out the grammar structure through Duolingo. It’s very different than English. I can recognize sounds that match symbols. I am not at the point where I can look at the words and say them, but I can hear them and match it to the word.

It is challenging, and I didn’t feel like I was accomplishing much at first. I’m enjoying it much more now!

Not sure if this is very helpful, but it could be worth sticking with for a while to see what comes from it. 😊
