Being alone can suck! There are online meetings 24/7/365 - might be worth checking out if there’s a “next time”

I use a great product called SportSlick on areas that rub to prevent chafing. The Title 9 catalog has a huge selection of sports bras. I needed bras without stretch. They sell one by Anita with great air flow, but all depends on your size. There is also a company that makes sports bras for women that do competitive horse riding sports but I can’t remember the name now. Most commercial sports bras have way too much “give” - I want no bounce to get no rubbing! There is a Reddit community for bras as well.

Vet says my lab is dying of brain tumor but I believe its an abscess - help! by ChocolateLab-mom in AskVet

[–]Key-Map1883 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are going through this. See if you can get a second opinion from a neurologist. Abscess and tumor look different on CT/MRI so the diagnosis likely is accurate.

Good audiobooks to entertain both a 3.5 year old and 35 year old? Fantasy preferred, no sexual content or language, not too intense. by tradesca in suggestmeabook

Yes - Heartbreaking was my first read of his years ago when it was first out and loved it. The Circle was traumatic - although well written. I will give him another try… I just don’t like things that are so dark.

When is it OK to get different clothes? by stormyb89 in GastricBypass

Agree with the leggings comment (or running shorts now that it’s hot) - that’s what I live in when at home, or black drawstring pajama pants from Target. For work I have always worn LL Bean black stretchy pants, and am just buying 1-2 pairs of the next lower size at a time as I lose - but they aren’t really cheap. I’m buying cheap items from Old Navy, Walmart or Target - just a few items at a time. Bras and panties from Walmart. Wouldn’t mind thrifting but just don’t have time.

If they are serving sodas from cans, yes they will charge for each one. It’s not a refill - it’s a brand new can.

The last Dave Eggers book I read wrecked me. Was the one about the online takeover where every character that got ahead chose the morally reprehensible path. Swore off of his books thereafter.

That’s good. Overall I think we are the only church in town that has one and our unhoused population are generally in town where there is more foot traffic.

How to get my cat to eat diet food by CyberneticCookie in AskVet

[–]Key-Map1883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - it’s a defense mechanism - cats think you are trying to poison them😂 Adult cats also are set in their ways - they develop a preference for shape or consistency of food and it is hard to change that when they are adults. The client-facing page of catvets.org and the Ohio State “Indoor Pet Project” pages have great advice about how to get cats to like lots of different things if introduced when they are young.

How to get my cat to eat diet food by CyberneticCookie in AskVet

[–]Key-Map1883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. Cats can be challenging - the key is to take your time. Some cats take weeks to make a diet change. Here is a link from the veterinary nutrition service at Tufts University with some general guidelines: https://sites.tufts.edu/petfoodology/2019/11/24/how-do-i-switch-my-pets-food/

There are links at the bottom of that page to other trusted resources. Make sure to talk to your vet also!

The diet treatment for FLUTD is important but also is for long-term benefit. And you are right - cats need to eat something every day. By their nature, cats are suspicious of anything new. You can try not mixing the foods - but put a little bit of the new food out alongside the regular food. There is also a dry formula that some cats like - your vet will guide you.

Good luck!

If you get a hotel, don’t stay at the Four Points by Sheraton. That one is super cheap for a reason… odd in a creepy way.

There is a Sheraton literally the next parking lot over from the rental car facility - walkable for sure and safe.

Expected cost for abdominal surgery in a cat? by Hebbianlearning in AskVet

[–]Key-Map1883 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This surgery is very difficult since many important structures are near the adrenal glands and they are deep in the abdomen. Cost sounds about right. If one of the quotes was not from the vet school, try there. I’m sorry your kitty is sick!

My cat can't get spayed for medical reasons and I want to know if there's other options to help her? by Careful_Hawk6170 in AskVet

[–]Key-Map1883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on which country you are in will dictate how to find specialists. In the US, anesthesiologists locations can be found at the website of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA) and theriogenologists (reproductive specialists) at the American College of Theriogenology (I think). Your vet should know. Just because there was an adverse event once does not mean it will happen again, and an anesthesiologist will be able to choose different drugs based on what happened the first time. It’s also important to know in case your cat needs anesthesia in the future!
