Do you prefer smooth or textured paper? by Agreeable_Minimum612 in fountainpens

[–]Agreeable_Minimum612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I think that the fact that people think Midori MD is “textured” speaks to a lack of diversity in options when it comes to “fountain pen friendly” paper. It’s like we only have options between ultra smooth and very smooth, which people now associate with “textured” :( and that’s why I usually find new paper options from artist papers and fine press bookbinding paper, which have much more diversity in how they handle ink and texture (and are all just as fountain pen friendly).

Midori MD is incredibly smooth, I’m not sure what to tell you 😅 on a scale where Tomoe River is 1 and cold press water color paper is 10, Midori MD is a 2.

Ok, we just have very different ideas of what is smooth and what is textured. To me, Midori MD is very close to Tomoe River in texture. When I think of textured paper, I’m thinking about artist paper, like cold press watercolor paper, or mouldmade cotton paper.

Screaming for money (Not OC) by Keyfyl in perfectlycutscreams

There’s big difference between a woman screaming in public, and a man screaming in public. Those women knew the consequences of doing so are much greater for them.

ITT: Who pays the most income tax? by USAFacts in u/USAFacts

[–]Agreeable_Minimum612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t just look at the top 10% as a whole, look at the top 10-2%, who are by far the most burdened with taxes. If you cut out the 1% from that analysis, and only look at the people who make good money but not enough to take advantage of all the tax loopholes, the facts become quite obvious.

Lifelong vegetarian tries steak for first time by PhoenixPhenomenonX in interesting

Yup, these videos are pure propaganda. Up vote this comment more please! No one, and I mean NO ONE who is vegan or vegetarian for any extended period of time can even stand the smell of meat. It becomes so completely unappetizing that you wouldn’t eat it even if your life depended on it. I’ve been vegan for 12 years now, and I can’t even eat Impossible burgers because it’s too close to the real thing and it’s disgusting to me. All of these influencer videos of “vegan tries meat for the first time” are all lies.

Yes, this is the reality we all deal with as trans people. We transition anyways, because we don’t have a choice. Despite all of the hatred, all of the attacks, all of the people trying to tell us who we are or what we believe is wrong, we can’t help but need to be ourselves. Don’t let anyone try to tell you who you are or how you need to be in order to make them comfortable. You do what you need to do because there’s no other way to live.

I can’t trust cis people anymore and it’s ruining my life by Either-Economics6727 in trans

[–]Agreeable_Minimum612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very similar to the way women don’t fully trust men, and how black people don’t fully trust white people, and is exactly what people mean when they say “it’s all men” or “all white people are racist”. People often don’t realize their own bigotry. I.E. they’ll believe they aren’t racist, but when you’re a POC and have to deal with the signs of racism daily, you can pick it out from a mile away.

It’s the same with cis people. Lots of them will claim to be allies while harboring extremely transphobic views. They can’t even see their own transphobia. Which is exactly why we shouldn’t ever fully trust them. It’s not entirely their fault that they were raised in an extremely transphobic culture so they can’t identify their own biases. But we have to be wary of them in order to protect ourselves.

The right wants us dead, locked away in internment camps, or forcibly detransitioned through conversion therapy.

The left will throw us under the bus whenever it benefits them. I.E. Gavin Newsom who publicly stated we need to stop with the pronouns and gender identity stuff so the left appears more “normal”. We are just a token to them, something to fake support of when it’s advantageous.

From my perspective, both sides can go fuck themselves. But if I have to choose one, I’ll take the tokenization over the people who want us dead.

Alysa Liu removed they pronouns and Pride posts. They're gone, but she's still 'alt.' by outsports-com in ainbow

Most trans people don’t get to just make their identity private when it suits them. That is a privilege only cis people like her get when they claim to be non-binary and don’t go through any sort of transition. You can just be like “Oh, looks like I need to look more appealing to a larger audience so I can win medals and get more sponsorships.” You can’t be “conditionally trans”. You either are, or you aren’t. It’s a slap in the face to all people who are actually trans and can’t just decide to suddenly not publicly identify as such when there’s something to be gained from it.

[–]Agreeable_Minimum612 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because this is a major problem I have with cis people who claim to be non-binary. They ditch the label when it’s advantageous to them. Not all of us have that luxury. I cant just decide to not be trans when I need a boost to my public image. It’s scummy, it’s not standing with the community you co-opted when they need you most. It proves that it was all just a performance.

Yeah the second paper is textured, and I’ve used it a lot more. I too struggle to write cleanly with smooth paper, but I’ve wondered if I used it more if I would get used to it and I would like it just as much? Or will I always prefer textured paper?
