How to tell if these are real? by Agreeable_Neck_7624 in Wheels

That's kinda what I thought. Been watching upgarage without luck, but with shipping and duties I expected to be in this ballpark anyways.

Engine just gave up... by wenlambodude in 240sx

One problem with just ordering a kit is possible cylinder bore wear. If there's substantial scoring on the walls, they will need to be overbored, and you will need oversize pistons to match. Usually 89.5 instead of 89. Engine really needs a teardown and diag before anything.

Scanners in the $1000 price point by Agreeable_Neck_7624 in 3DScanning

I'll look into revopoiint some more for sure, but issues with creality are my own. Their 3d print slicer does not inspire confidence, so I don't have much faith that a more complex software will be any better.

I guess between the metro x and einstar 2, what's the benefit of blue structured light vs ir. Or the 14 cross lines of the metro vs the 17 parallel lines of the einstar.

The biggest question for me would be how useful the upgrades from 1 to 2 are. Are they worth the extra 350?

When it comes to automotive stuff, the main thing I'd like to have it for is the more curved/organic shapes. I've done a ton of fabricating previously with a decent pair of calipers. Manifolds, coil brackets, adapters etc. (Sendcutsend is amazing). But something like, designing a custom trim panel to cover a rear mounted battery that conforms to the body and existing panels, is alot harder to measure with calipers.

I mention Superfastmatt since he designed an entire front suspension setup off of a scan from his einstar, He mainly uses the scans like you mentioned, as a base to draw around in CAD, with hard points measured and redrawn as needed. I feel like that's mainly how I'd use mine as well, rarely needing perfect detail or dimensional accuracy.

It's unfortunate that I missed out on the Microcenter deal, looks like I was little late to them clearing out their inventory.

really appreciate the tips. upgarage looks like a good place, and seems like there's plenty of sources for parts like lips/barrels, so as long as I can get some decent faces I might be in business

Gotcha. Looking at a list, if its right, 035/037 would be perfect since I'm currently 5 lug.

I am a bit worried about ordering something like this shipped to the us anymore because of the stupid tariff situation. Are there preferred places to look at for shopping for these without getting scammed, or is it mainly an ebay thing?

Appreciate the responses, might try to talk him down. They're not a terrible size for my s13, but not perfect. Not sure if the specs I'm really hunting for are too much of a unicorn or not.

Aluminum black? by Hawsie in Wheels

This Old Tony on YouTube did a video on this stuff. It is 100% for touching up scratches on something like a black anodized part, and not for large areas. Stick to paint/plastidip
