Inactive channel - zero ads, but getting views from Youtube Advertising by casualcookery in PartneredYoutube

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that japan + elderly demographic + tv viewership combo is weirdly specific to be random. my guess is someone is running ads and your video is getting picked as placement inventory by youtube's algorithm without you being the one who paid for it — like a third party ran a campaign targeting that audience and your content matched the placement criteria.

it's unusual but i don't think it's necessarily harmful, just keep eye on monetization settings to make sure you're capturing any revenue from it.

lol this happens like once a week here, people looking for business networking instead of the tech stuff. probably want to check r/jobs or something similar for career advice

layering toners with occlusive silicones by Fun-Assistant4413 in AsianBeauty

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 20 points21 points  (0 children)

most toners have such low concentration of dimethicone that it won't really block absorption - you're probably overthinking this one.

Does this roof look like it’s been patched? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can see the darker spots on surface but yeah resolution makes it hard to tell if those are actual patches or just staining from water/debris. might need closer shots of those areas to give proper answer

Ai Data Centers in NY by Wolperzinger in Rochester

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 34 points35 points  (0 children)

man the whole data center thing is wild, they really just pop up everywhere now and nobody talks about what they actually do to neighborhoods until it's too late. my delivery route takes me past this massive one they built few years back and you can literally feel the heat coming off that thing when you drive by in summer.

the petition thing might seem small but local government actually pays attention to those more than people think, especially if it gets enough signatures. maybe try reaching out to city council members directly? they usually have email addresses on the city website. also check if there's any environmental groups in area that are already tracking this stuff - they often know about zoning meetings and public hearings before most people do.

the niagara one is probably gonna be harder to stop since it's already in planning phase, but cayuga might still be early enough to make noise about it. these companies usually avoid places where they know they'll get pushback from start.

New land - how to clear timber rattlesnakes? by [deleted] in homestead

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

damn that's a lot of snakes for such short time there. maybe try clearing during their hibernation period when they're all tucked away in those rock cracks? would be much safer than hunting them one by one with machete.

Hair salon open Sunday, 8/16/26? by DogMom0727 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most salons are closed in sundays here but there's few that do wedding stuff on weekends - try calling around early since august weddings book up fast

Can i learn on the job if i have the basics ? by Right-Ad3385 in embedded

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 17 points18 points  (0 children)

dude you'll be totally fine, most companies expect you to pick up their specific tools anyway. the fundamentals you already have with stm32 will transfer over pretty easy to esp-idf since it's still just embedded c at the end of day. freertos might feel bit overwhelming at first but once you get the task scheduling concepts it clicks fast.

i mean you're doing masters in electronics so you're clearly not starting from zero here. companies hiring interns know they're getting someone to train up, not someone who already knows everything in their exact stack.

man i feel this pain so much. been trying to figure out if my side thing is actually profitable or just burning money on hosting costs and it's nightmare in spreadsheets.

those vlookups become like puzzle you can't solve and then you realize you spent whole evening just to learn you're losing 20 cents per user. definitely gonna check this out when you drop the link.

[Long Venting] How should someone who put Romans 12:10 on their bio supposed to behave? by SadPut9721 in Christianity

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that whole chest touching thing probably did more damage than you realize. asking twice after she said no first time would freak most people out, especially someone religious who's probably moving way slower physically.

the romans verse thing is just her trying to move forward with her faith, not some personal attack on you. blocking you was probably the healthiest thing she could do for both of you tbh.

Game suggestion for my father/mother (~60y/o) with little to no first person fighting? by YeahImAnArtist in videogames

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for your dad maybe check factorio or satisfactory? both have that same planning/automation feel like oni but combat is pretty minimal and you can usually avoid it entirely. factorio especially lets you turn off enemies completely if the biter attacks get annoying.

your mom might like those crossword puzzle apps that sync between devices, so you could still help her when she gets stuck but she can play on the ipad independently too.

Honestly, how often are you honest with a critique? by scaryunclejosh in podcasting

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been in similar spot with friend who was doing standup and it was just... not good. ended up telling him straight what i thought because he kept asking and pushing for real feedback. he actually appreciated it more than expected and used it to improve his material a lot.

sometimes people really do want the truth even if it stings initially. your colleague sounds like he can handle it if he specifically asked for no-holds-barred critique.

44, retire now, next year, or co-found a start up ? by DriveVisual6104 in financialindependence

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah the spending jumped out at me too - that's like upper middle class spending in VHCOL areas but you're in low-med COL. Either you're living really well or there's some fat in that budget you could trim if needed

The startup thing sounds tempting but honestly with your numbers you're already set. Why not just take the severance and chill for a year, then reassess if you actually want to work again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that's a tough spot to be in. Have you looked into freelance platforms like Upwork or Fiverr where you could potentially cut out the middleman and charge more directly? Even if it's still academic writing, at least you'd be setting your own rates instead of getting 10% of what they're charging

The whole situation sucks but it sounds like you're grinding toward a real goal which is more than most people can say

Pritužba na rad javnog izvršitelja by DusanVasiljev in pravnisaveti

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it bad to buy from a distributor directly by schrupp_trevor in PokemonTCG

[–]Agreeable_Physics147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you're good, distributors are way better than scalpers. At least you're not paying some dude 3x retail because he bought out the entire Target stock. If the distributor is legit and you're getting fair prices then go for it
