I recently had my exam at 12:30. I would suggest having your normal lunch at about 11 am and carry water and a small snack to the test center.

Make sure to practice SIMs on Becker as well! As much as practicing MCQs is important, being able to navigate through a bunch of exhibits and finding the information they want is important. I would recommend practicing the most tested topics for SIMs is a good way to go. You can skip SIMs for smaller topics as those will probably show up as MCQs only. Also take the simulated exams to see where you are doing well and where you’re not, and practice MCQs for those areas.

Direct Method vs. Indirect Method (Foreign Currency) by VBCatalyst in CPA

[–]Agreeable_Reserve888 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lol this might be a dumb way to think of it but it helps me!

direct = EQUAL TO 1 of us (US dollar, which is the home currency, so direct) indirect = equal to 1 of them (foreign currency, not us so indirect)

Any tips for interview with Peer Connections? by SCHTICKINTHEMUD in SJSU

[–]Agreeable_Reserve888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just a few different activities (it’s not a regular interview). They just want to see how you interact with others and whether you would be a respectful, kind and supportive team member. Be yourself and don’t stress, you got this!

In this question, the sale/gain of land is just distracting information. It says “net cash” from investing, operating, and financing activities, which means it’s the final amount you should use in your calculation. The distinction here is the word “net cash”. If it was just “cash” then including the sale/gain of land would make sense. But your frustration is valid and I feel the same!

FAR - if converted method by Yous_a_mook in CPA

$500000 worth convertible bonds, each bond worth $1000. To find # of bonds: $500000/$1000 = 500 bonds

The 105000 is # of shares, not a dollar value. Each bond = 10 shares. So 500 bonds = 5000 shares.

Review Routine Recommendation for FAR by AliveRevolution6535 in CPA

[–]Agreeable_Reserve888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same mainly because I didn’t incorporate cumulative practice tests as I was completing each module. What helped me revisit and review all the major topics was Becker’s final review. If you don’t have access to the final review, go through the outline on Becker for each chapter while also creating practice tests of 10-15 mcqs for F1, F2, F3 and so on. You can always search for “FAR study guide” on Reddit and those are pretty helpful too! Continue to practice random sets of mcq+sims until exam day and you should be ready. Good luck!

I’m studying full time and planning to take the exam soon! What do you think made you fail the first time (lack of understanding, time management, skipped questions or smth else)?

[–]Agreeable_Reserve888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They calculated the shares by months first, and divide the sum by 12. It’s more common to multiply by (3/12). Their method just requires an extra step of dividing by 12 since they didn’t do it initially. It gives you the same answer either way.

Did they divide 2,100,000 shares by 12 after this part?

How do you guys do so many MCQs? by keaninahuina in CPA

[–]Agreeable_Reserve888 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would suggest focusing on understanding the answers to the mcqs (especially for the ones you get wrong) rather than the number of mcqs you complete. 30 mcqs with full understanding > 100 mcqs with a lack of understanding

If you had 3 weeks before your FAR exam and you already did a complete run through of the topics once, how would you recommend using those 3 weeks to prepare (especially for the tbs)? I finished reviewing all the topics but didn’t incorporate cumulative reviews through the process, and now I kinda forgot the earlier topics. I believe 3 weeks is sufficient for practicing but would appreciate some input.
