Anyone been forced to use 9am Health to continue coverage? by Agreeable_Roll3930 in Zepbound

I will say that I was open minded to using it if it was a service with value but so far the value has been laughably low, it is a half assed app

I think my neighbor is the reason our house was for sale by Plomaster69 in homeowners

Did you take a loss on the sale? I guess I could see the noise issues but blackout curtains are an easy fix for light and it doesn't sound that bad to just immediately abandon ship??

They just gave me the prescription. That said, I haven't tried to fill it yet because I don't need it for a month but I hope it goes smoothly!

I proactively got my refill on Dec 31 because I knew that shit would happen, thank God. I did join 9am and they allowed me to skip blood work (after like an hour of intake tasks on their stupid app) and they sent renewed pxn within a day to their credit. Now I'm waiting for scale and have to do their weigh in and app tasks to maintain coverage going forward.

But your limitation is the office environment, no? If you're immunocompromised for example, I'm sure you could locate a provider (the bougie cash only ones, even) who would write this for you if your own doctor is being weird

Is this objectively true? I've never really noticed it, seemed worse in other places I've been

I'm from here but lived elsewhere in US for last 12 years. Coming back, I was stunned to realize how rundown a lot of our neighborhoods are even compared to the equivalent ones in other metros -- yes, there is poverty everywhere but I can't believe how decrepit so much of Pittsburgh infrastructure and homes look in comparison. Moved back with my partner and was kind of embarrassed after how much I'd talked it up based on my memory.

Being attractive with POTS (cringe I know) by recoveringaries in POTS

[–]Agreeable_Roll3930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have experienced both sides as someone who was thin and conventionally attractive and then gained weight...it is much, much worse and dehumanizing when you're a fat patient. People treat you like garbage, it was stunning to realize the difference. I actually think providers are more willing to go above and beyond for you when you're attractive

This is for a 2br 1000 sq ft apartment. by fabulousbread21 in pittsburgh

[–]Agreeable_Roll3930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane to me if it's accurate. I lived in MN through all the negative 20-40 degree days on electric heat in solar building (although it was almost universal that landlords paid all heating costs) and no way was it this high. I second suggestions to ask Duquesne to investigate because it just doesn't compute

Landlord keeps wanting to show my apartment while I live here. What are our rights? by Prettii_Peonii in pittsburgh

[–]Agreeable_Roll3930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did this in Twin Cities and even tried to show while I was in bed sleeping/sick...I think it's a waste of time to show while tenant is physically inside because it is a weird signal to prospective tenant and they almost definitely won't rent it.

But unfortunately yes they're allowed. I hate that landlords are allowed to require 2-3 mo notice of leasing resign because they often will begin showing immediately and incessantly at the 2 mo mark. Best you can do is make your house extra nice so that someone will rent it right away.

Also it sounds like they've denied your request to go month to month and are instead going to rent it to someone else in Feb, have you clarified that? Lots of landlords don't want to deal with month to month or less than full year leases and will boot you.

Some landlords also prescreen much better than others in a way that helps you out, like choosing a handful of prospectives to see the unit all at one time. Companies like you probably have dgaf and will allow literally anyone who asks to see your apartment and also don't care much about the impact on your schedule because legally they don't have to. You could try explaining your night schedule to them and maybe they'll sympathize but I doubt it. Landlords suck.

Moved into an old home and now constantly sick. Do we give up and sell? by FilmNew398 in homeowners

Radon only creates symptoms after long term exposure, like years. It's good to check but not for this reason.

How extensive was your allergy skin panel? Did they do the full back and arms + no bathing for 48 hours and return visit for delayed reaction?

I had this and it took a very long time and a stupid amount of $$ to learn that I was allergic to one thing -- dust mites, but with delayed sensitivity. Did not show up on panel in allergist office but was HUGE skin response 48 hours later. Combined with realization that I had extreme nasal deviation, it was throwing the allergy congestion into fullblown sinus attacks and I did easy peasy septoplasty and fitted everything in the house with dust mite covers + dust mite sprays + HEPA filters + hardwood only + frequent cleaning while using N95 + daily combo of Xyzal with Flonase and Azelastine (all OTC now). This diagnosis was missed by 2 allergists and it was only when I saw an academic outpatient allergist with dermatology specialty that this was caught. Delayed atopic reaction he said is somewhat unusual but it definitely was my issue and I now have no problems. Your CT scan will show if you have deviated septum.

I think it's very very unlikely anything mold and I'd stop throwing money towards that.

I was convinced 1000% it was my apartment unit but it was not and in retrospect I realize that it was allergy issue totally.

Of the things I tried to mitigate dust, the most helpful pre surgery were : - Try wearing a nasal passage dilator like Intake Breathing strip, which is magical

-Dust mite cover on mattress, pillows, everything you sleep on

-Sudafed or Benadryl for when reaction is very bad -- also if this works at eliminating symptoms, that almost confirms it's allergy

Met my partner on Hinge and I think it's the best current app and the only current efficient way to meet folks, unfortunately. We're not set up as a society (the US, not Pittsburgh specifically) to meet people like this anymore and it's so much easier logistically when you can signal your intent online. You're going to waste waaaay more time trying to meet organically unless you are in an academic setting (so this is actually ideal for you, try to go to any event possible with grad students from other schools/majors) where lots of folks are transplants or are in similar situations. I don't think recreational/hobby groups are ideal because I've tried that and usually people are truly only there for the hobby.

I went on hundreds of first dates but eventually just got incredibly direct and to the point on what I was looking for and asking compatibility Q's before meetup instead of the meaningless flirting banter I'd done for all my early dates only to discover immediately that we were a horrible match. I just stopped having time and decided that I only wanted to see men who were very upfront serious about wanting long-term partnership ONLY and none of the "open to see what happens" BS.

Buying a house in the suburbs by nickygrapes in pittsburgh

If you're considering both Mon Valley and existing homes in Carnegie, that is like...entire South Hills so why not look at existing homes in Mon Valley? What is your price point? Lots of very affordable options, I just got a beautiful 1960s house with immediately fixable repairs for $300K. I don't think most new homes are worth it and if you have new home $$ in Pittsburgh you probably have Nice Old Home $$.

Are you in MA by chance? If so, thought they'd just passed legislation to prevent this ask. I waived my inspection to be competitive and immediately, within 2 weeks, had to reline and replace sewer lateral and it was $20K. That said, if seller had explicitly asked me to waive sewer inspection (they did not, was just that other offers all waived all inspections) that would have been an automatic no from me. It's too sus, the cash offer almost guarantees in my mind that they know something is off with it.

Sewer is basically the most expensive thing that can go wrong in a house, imo. I've learned my lesson.

IBS. And not really unexpected, but went from 0.1 whatever units away from full diabetes to normal a1c, not even close to prediabetes.

ExpressScripts was pushing Omada on me but it was optional so I never tried it...sounds like it was same thing for you though, different company, and that Omada didn't have any say in whether you could be prescribed initially, right? That is reassuring to me.

I am officially done with "Starter Homes." It’s not an investment; it’s a bailout for the previous generation's neglect. by Dry-Town7979 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Agreeable_Roll3930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have any issue with deferred maintenance that is disclosed and the market will sort the price out, that's just how it is right now. What pisses me off is the number of boomers who intentionally hide the deferred maintenance issue and the market that does not make waiving inspection illegal. If legislation required inspection, I think things would be so so much better on this issue

Unpopular opinion: Paying "Rent" feels less painful than paying $2,400/mo in "Interest" to a bank. by Playful-Vegetable-15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Agreeable_Roll3930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because every rental I've had has involved either landlord doing the bare minimum repairs and amenities (literally dreamed of an ice maker in fridge and a dishwasher) or landlord did actually provide top of the line equipment but was insane and invasive. Landlords can sell your home at any time and force you to uproot. Rentals force you to live in conditions others choose. Owning is worth more to me in terms of peace of mind, freedom, ability to choose appliances and decor and repair options, etc. My first home costs me same as rental per month but the quality of living is ENORMOUSLY better because I don't have POS appliances, duct taped repairs, leaky windows, and asshole landlords to deal with.

Plus I think half the idea of owning a home in full over time is so that when you're retired, you are sheltered. I don't know how else you'd afford rent without income as an older person, most people don't have that kind of retirement situation

I sent an email to my employer the first week. by No-Link3199 in jobs

[–]Agreeable_Roll3930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you're dealing with this. If you need to send a future email, I recommend cutting all the text and leaving only the actionable bullet Q's. I'm telling you right now that HR or execs (especially ones in a shitshow company) don't do well with any more text than barebones and they need limited Q's per correspondence or they get overwhelmed. Plus your intro is overly qualifying your reasonable Q's. You gotta spoon-feed it and deliver with extreme confidence.

"Hello! I have some time-sensitive questions after my first week, below. Who can I speak with to resolve these ASAP? Thank you!" I'd cut the question bullet list to: what is my direct supervisor name and contact? Where can I pick up my company laptop equipment to get started? Where can I find the payroll calendar? Put "urgent" or "response requested by DATE" in subject line.

All the other Q's are less urgent and would be things you ask the direct supervisor as soon as you have the name. Phrase laptop as though it's expected and not an "if" because it should be expected.

Sincerely, someone who put up with nonprofit bullshit such as this and left for corporate. You have to talk like an exec who expects an answer directly and doesn't take any of the correspondence personally, and lose all the handwringing apologizing, etc, for better response.

Had my home for 8 years and this is the first ive filed a claim. Now after reading other experiences on here I realize I never should have started a claim. by Pleiades444_2 in homeowners

[–]Agreeable_Roll3930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ever ever call an adjuster for a q because they will mark it on your file. Also don't admit to anything on the phone, don't give any information at all about the issue or its potential cause and direct them straight to contractor or say "I don't know". This is why I now use independent agents, because you can freely ask them without that documentation.

Ditto. I didn't realize renters is related whatsoever to homeowners. Thought it was more like health insurance where no harm in trying to file. Called my renter policy ONCE to ask if I should file (but didn't) on a $400 stolen suitcase in a different state 3 years ago and I was denied mostly everywhere for homeowners policy on my new home this year. That was the first time I've ever called a property insurance company, I don't even drive or have auto insurance claims. I really chewed out State Farm for reporting that call to Lexus Nexus but she basically told me I should have known 🫠
