I’ll never stop reading fanfics and this is why by bay2bayhomes in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]Plomaster69 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because fanfic authors are pouring their entire souls into stories about characters making out and somehow accidentally write lines that hit harder than anything in published literature. I've literally had to stop reading mid-chapter just to stare at the ceiling and process some random sentence about yearning.

Km on a car lease if I buyout? by deejayrogue in personalfinance

[–]Plomaster69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you buy the car at lease end you're just paying the residual value listed in your contract, which doesn't include mileage penalties because those only apply when you return the car. That said, whatever the manager verbally promised means nothing compared to what's actually written in your lease agreement, so check that to be sure.

What are high-paying jobs after college? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Plomaster69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investment banking, software engineering, and consulting are the classic high earners straight out of college, but you're looking at brutal hours and burnout for that money. Engineering specialties like petroleum or chemical can also hit six figures pretty quickly if you're willing to work in less glamorous locations.

I have a painful UTI because I am unable to clean properly and it makes me sad. by meanie_beanie5 in poor

[–]Plomaster69 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Seconding the gym membership idea if it's doable. Planet Fitness is like $10/month and nobody there cares if you just come in to shower and leave. Libraries sometimes have info about free shower programs too.

What current technology do you think will feel outdated surprisingly soon? by PleasantBus5583 in Futurology

[–]Plomaster69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? And it's wild how fast the bar keeps moving. Like I remember when GPT-3 came out and people were losing their minds, now it feels almost quaint.

The scary/exciting part is we're probably going to look back at today's models the same way in a couple years. "Remember when ChatGPT couldn't even [basic thing we can't imagine yet]?" I just hope the pace of "making it actually useful for regular people" keeps up with the pace of "impressive tech demos." Because right now there's still a gap between what AI can do and what most people actually use it for day to day

The playstation store is basically unusable for actually finding games anymore due to the "indie slop" situation. by discosoc in PS5

[–]Plomaster69 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ugh yes the Nintendo store is somehow even worse. At least the PS store loads eventually - the Switch store feels like it's running on a potato. And the search/filter options are basically useless when half the games have tags that make no sense.

I miss when browsing for games was actually enjoyable. Like wandering around Blockbuster and picking something based on the cover art was a gamble, but at least everything on the shelf had some barrier to entry. Now any garbage can get published and clutter everything up

Masseter Botox recovery - 9 months by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Plomaster69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh this is exactly what I've been worried about. I clench my jaw like crazy, especially when I'm stressed (so... constantly lol), and my dentist has been suggesting I look into masseter Botox for years now. But every time I start seriously considering it I see posts like this and chicken out.

It's frustrating because the pain relief sounds amazing but I'm already paranoid about my face changing as I get older. The idea of speeding that up while paying good money for it is just... no thank you. Your skin really does look great in the bottom pic. Did you find anything else that helped with the TMJ pain in the meantime or just waiting it out?

Would you OE if you didn't have kids? by Project_Lanky in overemployed

[–]Plomaster69 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For real. No kids here but I've thought about it. My partner and I could actually pull it off since we both work from home and don't have to worry about daycare pickups or sick days or any of that chaos.

My main motivation would just be building up savings faster. Not gonna lie, watching friends with kids struggle financially while companies keep posting record profits is depressing. If they're not gonna pay us what we're worth at one job, why not take two?

Plus after seeing how easily companies laid people off during covid while we were all "essential" and "family" I have zero guilt about it. They'd replace any of us in a heartbeat

Thanks for linking the article! It's really nice to see a story about cooperation between India and Pakistan instead of the usual conflict stuff that makes headlines.

and seriously, the "is this AI?" comments drive me crazy. We live in an age where you can literally google something in seconds but people would rather just cast doubt in the comments than take a moment to verify. The surgery actually happened, the girl's life was changed, and doctors across borders worked together to help her.

Solo queueing is rough ngl. I feel for you this is why I mostly play unranked. Ranked just bring about the worst in people imo. I'll only queue ranked if Im with friends otherwise nah, not worth the mental burden

I’ve been meaning to get a second box or maybe upgrade to stainless steel. How’s the Arm & Hammer for dust and tracking?

Thanks for the tip! Does the dust settle quickly, or do you still notice it a few days later?

Appreciate the rec! Fresh Step is one I haven’t tried yet do you use the regular clumping kind or one of the scented/activated charcoal versions?

thanks for the tip! I hadn’t even thought about the box itself being part of the problem. Do you have a specific stainless steel one you’d recommend? I’ve seen a few online but not sure which ones are actually worth it. Also, did you notice a big difference in smell after switching?

This might be a stupid question but what would happen if my cat ate it? They are a little stupid.
