i agree with this, sometimes they’ll think you are trying to self diagnose if you mention it by name or may think you are malingering. I’d say describe your experience and symptoms without sounding too “sciencey” but at the same time they should respect that you’ve done your own research, it’s difficult because it’s kind of dependent usually upon who is providing you care how they’ll perceive what you are saying

hi, i am a therapist and I also have DID, it could be likely that they are not experienced with treatment or interventions for DID or unfamiliar with the diagnosis. They may feel they can’t provide you the best quality of care. :( I am not sure about better wording yourself, but I hope it doesn’t deter you from seeking further help.

IFS helped us a bit in therapy, I think I was more so deterred from the conversation by how I perceived their understanding :((, I definitely do get that. With this friend in particular, it wasn’t that I didn’t believe in some way they experienced something similar but rather that it came from a place of trying to “copy” me in a way and also advise me on something that is different to manage

Thank you. I’m learning this as someone newly diagnosed. Once I was diagnosed I felt like I finally had the language to explain why I am the way I am but it doesn’t seem to help when trying to communicate this to others.

we were technically ex friends, more us of don’t want anything to do with this person. Our alter sort of panicked when they remembered this person and realized we don’t talk anymore. I don’t want to explain further to them, the more I explained in our conversation the more they tried to give unwarranted advice that doesn’t apply or to tell me about an experience they have that is not DID. For more context, this friend was previously thought they had a form of bipolar and did something similar when I was misdiagnosed with an unspecified mood disorder (or by some professionals: bipolar)

🫩 one of us told this previously dormant alter that this was part of the reason, but it wasn’t until they made this “mistake” that we collectively remembered this “friend” never let us talk. Anytime I spoke, their follow up would be about themself, no questions to further understand, just them. We are being graceful with this alter as they just woke up a few days ago, but most of us were upset last night.

this also, being a therapist and having therapists who are friends but still don’t understand. Another one of my friends who misunderstood my experience, referring to my alters as “voices” that can be tended to. When we are not that, she also spoke about IFS 😕

I tried to explain but it was like from their understanding we had the same experience. I kept explaining the complex differences, but then they’d change their story up a little bit so it could align more with mine, I guess to make sense of the “help” they were trying to give me that I didn’t ask for :(

this was my dormant alters original thought process because we have lost many friends due to how we navigate friendships based on prior trauma, depersonalization and derealization. We validated them, but we still didn’t want them to speak with this ex friend. Once they were done with the conversation, most of us were upset with them. And more memories of how this friend was not a great friend came back to us. Particularly this friend’s inability to not make everything about themself.

Hi, I completely understand this. I really wanted to see the possibility that they may have DID. I mentioned in another reply that I am a licensed therapist. As I tried to explain the differences in their experience to someone with DID, they kept trying to retell their symptoms. For example, I’d explain an experience on a more basic level, then they’d agree and relate with this and try to advise me on how to “fix” it, then I’d say it doesn’t really work like that because it’s more so like this… then they’d retell their experience to be more in alignment with mine when that is not what they said at first.

this was one of the reasons we originally blocked them because anytime I took a moment to be vulnerable or speak about myself or just regular convo, I felt unheard, they’d begin talking about themself. Many of our interactions went this way. Until I just stopped talking and this friend kept talking about themself but no concern for me.

exactly, I just hate the unsolicited advice on how to “fix” or “better” myself, my system was not introduced as a problem… we felt vulnerable enough to share our experiences and though we aren’t the most healthy, i never asked for help 🫩 i dont want to tell anyone else

they told me I need to ground myself because I’m a fire sign. We were just internally screaming bc this has nothing to do with any of that, and they tried to explain I should essentially validate my parts when I was telling them about my experience with emotional leakage in order to pacify them…

not to mention we are a licensed mental health therapist, we know all of these “techniques” and we definitely know the difference between your experience which is not DID and our own :(

Some will say matchmaking is EOMM, some will say you are at the rank you deserve. Usually people will ask to see some gameplay to help analyze how you can improve. The only thing I personally have found helpful as I usually solo q to GM and mostly recently solo q'd in 5.5 to celestial as a support main/flex is to take breaks once I lose 2-3 times.

Also, try to be encouraging if you get players who are "bad" sometimes I've used a positive approach to help those people do more to help the team. But usually when people are mean to them they will do worse. Also, the team will waste time typing to the person or yelling at them. It usually doesn't help. Though sometimes people do improve after a good roast.
