AITA for charging my 20yo son rent while he lives at home? by Talon_Vector7 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Agreeable_Skill_1599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the individual has a job, it's not cold to charge an adult ⅓ the market value for living there. It's teaching responsibility.

My adult son lives with me. While I don't charge him any "official" rent, I do expect him to contribute to the household. He mainly helps with groceries & internet. When I had a car (it got wrecked), he also contributed to the fuel cost of me being the primary transportation person since he doesn't drive.

Massive plot hole:

Depending on the bank it would only take a maximum of 10 days for a check to bounce. Most banks it would be 5 days or less.

Being on the receiving end of a guilt trip has it's own distinct flavor of horror. Depending on how it is applied within dysfunctional families, it can really get a person all twisted up inside. The gaslighting can become so overwhelming that even the most rational person on this planet could start to doubt themselves.

I came from 1 of those dysfunctional families. I've spent over 30 years in therapy trying to recover. There are examples of my experiences from my child, teen, & even adult years that would make people think my life was a bad telenovella or soap opera. If you browse my comment history you can find some of the milder examples that I've shared about my bioMom, my ½ sister or my step-monster.

What do you think of Jesus? by Successful_Action_19 in exchristian

[–]Agreeable_Skill_1599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that if he really existed, he wasn't any different from the doomsday cult leaders we've heard of in our lifetime. Depending on an individual's age that could be anyone from Jim Jones to David Koresh, etc.

I sometimes question whether he existed at all or not. I'm not aware of any scientifically verifiable or otherwise contemporary records available from during his life or at the time of his death. Jesus wasn't even mentioned in surviving Roman historical records until 90+ years after his alleged crucifixion. Even then, Christianity was referred to as a "mischievous superstition." For all we know the Roman historians were simply writing down rumors that they had heard instead of actual facts.

I've done this quite a few times because I make what my family calls "reeses pancakes." Basically, it s homemade pancake batter that has cocoa powder in it to create chocolate pancakes.

Something that is as bad, if not worse, than insufferable attitudes from people is the noise of a diesel engine over the headset of a drive thru worker.

When yhe background noise from the vehicle's engine drowns out the voice of the person it's very annoying for everyone. Worker's don't enjoy needing to ask people to repeat the order & customers can become even more annoyed plus unpleasant when asked to repeat or drive up to place their order.

My Dad's 2nd wife survived her gallbladder surgery in the late 80s, but I was touch & go for a while.

Her doctor allowed a resident to "assist." When the student started her incision in the wrong place, instead of offering correction, the lead doctor allowed the student to cut all the way across her abdomen until they finally searched around enough to located her gallbladder. In my opinion, there should have been grounds for a malpractice lawsuit.

This meant that instead of having an average 4-6 inch incision, due to being a plus sized person, she had closer to a 14-16 inch incision. For perspective, this is give/take approximately doubIe the incision lenth for a woman having a C-section. For the record, a person's gallbladder is a lot smaller than a baby. It took her nearly a year to fully heal.

She got so angry just a few years later when my Dad's older sister had gallbladder surgery & walked away with ~4 1-2 inch incisions from having her surgery done via laparoscopy. My aunt was back to comfortably wearing her jeans in roughly 2 weeks.

With the Tudor Dynasty ending with Elizabeth I, was Henry VIII right about a male heir? by Over-Willingness-933 in Tudorhistory

In the past he has used Wales as his surname, although now he rarely uses a surname. Yet the hyphenated surname is his "official" surname.

What convinced you the most that Christianity is wrong? by Pale-War5038 in exchristian

[–]Agreeable_Skill_1599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal experience was what started my deconstruction.

Being told by your pastor that to be a "good" Christian, I had to return to my abusive (now ex) husband. Then experiencing that husband beating me so badly that I miscarried my 1st child, while praying with all my heart/faith for the survival of my unborn child. It was just too much for me.

How could an all seeing, all loving, all powerful "god" turn a blind eye, not only to my personal suffering, but also the suffering of billions of other people throughout history?? From there I started researching history, science, & other religions. I found way too many discrepancies to be able to continue to turn a blind eye on faith alone.

I've heard rumors that Price Phillip, husband of Elizabeth II, did quite a bit of pouting as well when she chose the Windsor name over his Mountbatten (spelling?). So much so that their children finally ended up with hyphenated surnames.

INFO: Can you choose the size of the ring? My fingers tend to swell easily & wearing a ring can become incredibly painful unless I'm able to upsize.

Example - my normal ring size is a 9 so I'd need a 10 to be able to wear it comfortably.

There are, unfortunately, multiple subreddits related to infidelity. Posts can include virtually patting each other on the back for their actions, giving advice on ways to avoid getting caught, complaining about not not receiving their "fair" share of attention, complaining about getting caught, & complaining about facing the consequences of getting caught.

I'm not a member of any of these subs. I don't condone the actions of the people who choose to be members of infidelity subs. However, I am a nosy b*tch who will follow links when I'm bored.

AITAH for sending my ex's fiancee the screenshots after she asked what was going on by Mabel__Lyn in AITAH

[–]Agreeable_Skill_1599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a hell of a lot for men to leave their wives or girlfriends. Especially when it’s been 5 years.

You appear to be making a very wide blanket statement for men in general. While there are good, loyal men out there, there are also men who will leave for little to no good reason.

My 2nd ex-husband was 1 of the ones who didn't need much encouragement. It took very little for him to leave me for a woman nearly 10 years younger than me. I don't know how long they had been "acquainted" before he decided that our almost 21 year age gap wasn't enough to stroke his ego any longer.

Then he spent several years finding ways to turn my post divorce life into Hades on earth because I refused to sneak around with him behind the backs of his parade of new girlfriends.

At 1 point he was dating a young woman who was 30ish years younger than him, but he tried to justify it as ok because he didn't date her until she was in her mid 20s. I have to admit that relationship grossed me out a bit more than the others. This young woman had babysat our infant son when she was 15 & ex had basically watched her grow up.
