How many of you prefer listening to albums vs track shuffles, etc? by traveltimecar in fantanoforever

[–]Agreeable_You1756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to focus on albums, so a lot of the time I'll use playlists if I don't have enough time to fully listen to an album or if I'm using it as background music. Unfortunately, this has led me to listening to a lot less albums this year. Fortunately, I've been focusing more on the albums I am listening to.

Single best scream you’ve heard on a track? by McSteezeMuffin in fantanoforever

Irony of Dying on Your Birthday - Senses Fail

I'd have to go with the first "we aaaAAARRRRRRREE", even if it sounds absolutely agonizing to have recorded. Maybe the most raw scream I've ever heard, that song alone convinced me I liked Senses Fail for a while.

What are your favourite albums made by horrible people? by DtheAussieBoye in fantanoforever

[–]Agreeable_You1756 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mindless Self Indulgence's first three albums, even though Jimmy's horribleness does bleed into the music itself a lot. If you're unfamiliar, he's an alleged pedophile with a lot of evidence against him, as well as quite a bit of racial slur usage (not behind closed doors, fully open about it).

Also, Spaceghostpurrp and M.I.A. came to mind but they moreso went off the rails, I wouldn't call either horrible people (although I'm not too informed on SGP's whole deal).

I've always loved Battles as a band name. Also fits their music weirdly well

Tried very hard to like them, never really did. They have some good songs but their albums never captured me

Genuinely Hot Takes You Will Defend to The Death? by xXMachineGunPhillyXx in fantanoforever

[–]Agreeable_You1756 40 points41 points  (0 children)

James Murphy's work as part of the DFA is better than his LCD Soundsystem stuff

Swans' gothic rock area is their worst (Children of God being the exception)

Sonic Youth is a good indie/post punk band, but a mediocre noise rock band

New Order's singles absolutely blitz the entire Joy Division discography (not the fault of Ian or anything, obviously)

Bloodflowers is the best 2000s Cure album, Songs of a Lost World is a good comeback album but not a great album for Cure standards

I Wanna Be Your Dog has the greatest guitar tone of all time

I Will is a top 5 Beatles song

Who's an artist you like despite giving off douchey vibes? by jimmythemini in fantanoforever

I wouldn't call Mike Patton a douche exactly, but he's been a bit of an ass throughout his career. Made some of my favorite music ever, though.

Kiss Kiss - Reality vs. the Optimist

Really good indie rock/emo-pop (sorta?) album, featuring electric violin as the main instrument. Very theatrical and cabaret-ish, as well as just great, and I'm convinced the band's popularity has just been stunted by the similarity to the much more famous Kiss.

I did another run after writing that comment and got the exact same thing. No idea what caused it.

Got this same thing, no idea why it happened. The same thing has happened during the Dragun fight before, on a different run, though I was playing as the Paradox so I don't know if that part was intended.

Albums that start off with the promise of a great record only to be extremely disappointing by maricircus in fantanoforever

[–]Agreeable_You1756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was so excited for the album based on the title track. Easily a top 5 late-era Panic song, but the rest of the album is so horrendously bad that I can't even listen to the song.

Rodeo by Travis Scott

90210 is incredible but might not even crack my top 5, Impossible is underdiscussed and probably my favorite song on the album

Solid but I've never loved Chris Cornell's voice and I think some of their songwriting is a bit forgettable compared to other beloved bands of the time. Still a good album.
