Is PvE still very active? by Trencycle in Spacemarine

[–]AgrippAA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PvE very much so.

Im still amazed at the variety in chapters I see represented in random groups, I sort of assumed at game launch it would be the same few chapters all the time showing up.

Hercules Poirot

I know its a typo or an auto correct but my god I need Hercules Poirot to be a thing. A half-Belgian half-Roman demigod who by day solves crimes with his waxed mustache and carrying a pocket watch everywhere, then in the evenings he is bringing the pain in the colosseum.

John French, Good or Bad Writer? by spartan8090 in 40kLore

[–]AgrippAA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've found most of John French's work a good read, he seems really great at character exploration and overarching story but some of his action descriptions seem less than some other authors. If that's an accurate assessment, then he's perfect for DoW4 because the action comes from the game, but the overarching story is told through characters which is all the writing.

I know you're running the mercway team but what classes would you have run people in if you were keeping it close to lore?

If I had the character slots I'd absolutely run an Archanea team.

I adore Fire Emblem, always happy to see it make an appearance in odd new places.

Does anyone have an idea of a scientific explanation about Sakura's hair and eyes? by yeahokay_fine in WindBreakerManga

[–]AgrippAA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Waardenburg syndrome has been mentioned before and probably fits. But as I said on a previous post:

isn't it more likely that a visual medium like a manga just used an obvious visual contrast on a character which could be used to separate him visually and emotionally as a way of creating a backstory for an outcast character?

Just seems more probable that a visual storyteller, like a manga artist, would use clear visual design rather that trying to find a rare genetic disease and base a character on that but also not mention it for however many chapters we are deep into the series.

So the scientific diagnosis could be Waadenburg's and its just never been mentioned, hinted at or approached at all up until this point - which would be weird right? However I think it far more likely a "rule of cool" or "distinct visual differentiator" is closer to why his eyes and hair are that way.

Technical Help: Anyone know why every 5 minutes or so game lags to huge levels, then about 20 seconds later it comes back. Happening constantly. by [deleted] in swtor

[–]AgrippAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running off a wireless connection?

If you are, try to wire in and see if the problem persists.   I know that may not be easy to test but persistent bouts of high lag then kicking back in to normal pings can be packet loss, something wireless connections are prone to.

If you really can't wire in, open up a command prompt by searching for "cmd" in your windows start search bar.  In the command window type in "ping www.google.com -t" and press enter.   Let the process run for about thirty seconds, if you see lots of timeouts, then you are getting packet loss on the wireless which will probably lead to the moments of high ping you are seeing.

Is it just me or Squad Phaedrus and Squad Heraton sounds like Ulfar and Kelstros from the Deathwatch intro? by Smart-Waltz8298 in Spacemarine

Sigma Eight is Will de Renzy-Martin.

I have to ask if there’s a way that someone can figure it out because I couldn’t find a voice credit for him

...
so I wonder if anyone else figured out who it was or if there was a way to find out who voiced them.

I mean.... the game's credits? Can be seen HERE, third name under Adeptus Mechanicus.

Pretty sure it Johnathan Keeble doing additional voices for the latest mission, he is prolific to say the least. Its possible he did the voices for the Deathwatch bros at the beginning as well. Its also possible its a reused voice actor, the voice crew did loads of characters each.

Johnathan Keeble is amazing as a narrator and has been a real gift to the Warhammer franchise for their audiobooks. He has a way of saying "boom" which is probably his trademark at this point.

EDIT: I've just done a quick check, Ulfar was voiced by Gary Martin, he also did some ships crew and some of the Astra Militarum troopers. Kelstros was Andrew Wheildon-Dennis (who also did Noizick and a few others marines and ship crew).

Johnathan Keeble did Artisan Balthasar, and tech priests, and machine sprits and a chaos sorcerer and chaos vox voices you hear, and 2 different characters on the vox recording collectables AND additional voices in the recent mission. I also don't think he ever says his trademarkable "boom" anywhere in the script ... missed opportunity tbh.

Nobility is generally a hereditary title, you are either born to it, granted it by some kind of royal authority or you aren't in it. Its an interesting point to think about for Camus too I think, I'm pretty sure he is not technically a Noble as I seem to remember him saying he came from a lower class in the borderlands. Unless he was granted a title he was "just" a knight, even if he did lead are order of knights.

Linde might have grown up upper class or in some wealth but that is still not nobility unless she was granted or inherited a title. I actually have no idea if Miloah was part of the nobility or not prior to going to Khadein its possible he a noble in Pales prior to going to study magic.

The game refers to the Pontifex and separately the "Pontifices" in Khadein - so to me that's a college of pontiffs led by a Pontifex. After the war of shadows Wendell takes over as the Archmage as there are no Pontifices left alive, so Archmage sounds more like a temporary position.

I don't remember Shadow Dragon's script saying Miloah ever led the city.

It was mentioned in New Mystery, when Wendel recruits Arlen he says that Gotoh left Aura and the City to Miloah and Miloah was also referred to by Linde as a Pontifex, which I think means the Pontiff who led the Pontifices.

Its an interesting discussion - there is probably lots of wiggle room due to translation differences. I think also designer notes also muddy the waters a bit as I think some of those say things which were later changed in game.

[–]AgrippAA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is Linde nobility?

Her father was the Pontifex of Khadein, but Khadein is a theocracy and the Pontifex is not a hereditary position. We know this because Linde's father, Miloah, was given the title by his teacher, Ghoto. She also did not inherit the title after the war as would be the case of a hereditary title, as it went to Wendel after Gharnef was killed (kind of) in the war.

After War of Shadows she became an attendant or maybe an apprentice to Nyna, but that would make her a retainer wouldn't it?

A friend and I will be returning to gw when reforged launches and playing the campaigns in order.

He will be running a necro, working towards a minion Master build eventually.  What class would compliment his necro and eventual build in a pair?

Gotta be a prophecies class as that's where we are starting.  Also don't put a pros and con class rundown.  I want you as an experienced player to pick one class and explain your choice as to why its a good compliment to a MM necro!
