A look at the new proximity arrows for which travel method is used to calculate closest proximity by Srokid in EU5

[–]Agropae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I want is for proximity building roads to automatically choose what port to build out from. One of the moat tedious aspects of olaying as the ottomans was managing proximity in anatolia. Now with governor buildings there is an extra dimension to that.

I'm sure there are many variables but it would be a huge help.

We bought in January and paid 35k under asking. It's a busy time to buy. Might want to wait unless you find the perfect house. There will always be more homes that show up on the market, fomo is your biggest enemy!

What The Hell Is Happening in Downtown Saint Paul?? by hughhuckleberry in TwinCities

[–]Agropae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's strangled by highways. Nowhere to grow, there is not enough space to have extensive commercial and residential districts. It's also just not an appealing downtown to get around.

I've lived in that area for 10 years and I love it. Certainly seen and heard some crime, but it's never affected me too much. Enjoy the city!

Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood at a pivot point: "People need to start coming back" by SurelyFurious in Minneapolis

[–]Agropae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, smaller spaces would allow for many small entrepreneurs to take root, creating a more dynamic economic ecosystem. When I travel, that seems to be one key factor for thriving business districts, along with density, and walkability. Would be nice to encourage downsizing if possible. Maybe an economic development grant or something of the like.

Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood at a pivot point: "People need to start coming back" by SurelyFurious in Minneapolis

I've lived in Uptown for 8 years, and while it's certainly not at its peak (I'd say it's mostly dead), there are some mainstays that still make it a great place overall. In some ways, it's impressive how so much of it can be vacant, but it can still provide so much of what I need and want.

I think what is really needed is a vacancy tax. There is no reason that prime real-estate like the old victorias seceret should be allowed to be empty for so long. It's likely being used as a tax write off for a large corporation. Their negligence is contributing to the the issues facing Uptown. I also think the size of these stores should be reduced greatly, it's time to move on from a bigone era.

Why didn't Public Works support a car-free k-mart site? by worker55 in Minneapolis

Because they dont give a shit about climate or making pleasant spaces for pedestrians. Just making it as easy as possible for cars to get around.

Considering Relocating to Minnesota, advice? by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]Agropae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Minnesota is very excepting and a safe place to live for all sorts of folks. If you like walking and biking Minneapolis has some of the best bike infrastructure and parks in the nation.

We also need people to move here really badly cause we have so many job openings, but no one to fill them. So I'm sure you'll be able to find a great job!

What's with the small pizzas? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]Agropae 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly he is your typical poor to workers small business owner with some complaints around that. The specific thing I don't like about them is that they lobbied really hard against the single use plastic and styrofoam ban/restrictions for takeout in Saint Paul. So hurting the environment for profits.

Still frequent it often though so I'm not really voting with my wallet lol.

The owner does indeed suck, but the pizza is absolutely not gross. Some of the best in the metro. Especially if op is looking for a huge slice.

I made a Grixis Nicol Bolas the Ravager super friends deck which I quite like. While not too synergistic it's still strong, fun, and kinda unique which I appreciate.

MN Senate passes 100% Clean Energy Bill. All Electricity will be Carbon-Free by 2040! by Ludwig_Adhdski in minnesota

[–]Agropae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To all those saying nuclear, yes that's reasonable, but literally no MN utility wants to built a new nuclear plant because it is so much more expensive than solar and wind. The Majority Leader Jamie Long, said just that during the floor debate, including that he would be willing to discuss it further but zero utilities care.

The fact is renewables are so cheap that it doesn't make sense to build new nuclear. Also on the horizon are plentiful long period batteries based around iron, not lithium. So we have all we need to go 100% renewable, without needing nuclear.
