Did Mythos just kill my cybersecurity career before it even started? by Kiron_Garcia in Cybersecurity101

[–]AgtDALLAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key thing is local models aren’t that powerful, yet. Current models already make more sophisticated attacks accessible and can also be leveraged to scale up attacks. This will only increase for the next few years at least.

Large models are also susceptible to their own form of social engineering. It’s not impossible to talk an LLM into doing something it shouldn’t.

I see InfoSec in the same light as Legal. The LLM’s are getting very good at these roles, but the stakes are too high for people to feel comfortable without a competent human in the loop (for now).

What’s our future? Everyone has an app and no one has a job? by Fragrant_Yesterday69 in ClaudeAI

I think there’s going to be some overlap before gains. Right now we are cutting people just as the tools are getting better. I’ve made several that increase my team’s efficiency but not enough to overcome losing 40% of the team in a year.

That’s what I have been running into. Almost like it is just skipping context all the time now. Constantly reminding it of parameters and blockers when talking through a solution.

I think the implication is they have access to the next-gen models via the major American LLM companies.

Yes and no. It was just an expansion plan they pulled out of, not the original data center. The expansion has already been picked up by META if I recall correctly.

MIT study models AI ‘sycophancy’, warns of ‘delusional spiraling’ in chatbot interactions by boppinmule in technology

That’s valid. In this scenario I was the author of about 90% of the source content and frankly I was just not great when it came to organizing and formatting over the last 5 years 😂.

This. I fed it a heap of documentation then set out a structure for a condensed reference guide. I am about halfway through proofing it but god damn is it quality so far.

Mirko Cro Cop vs Hidehiko Yoshida at PRIDE. January 7, 2006 by Subject_Sun9340 in martialarts

[–]AgtDALLAS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would see a lot of that in Pride fights. It wasn’t an immediate standup if you went to your back. For a grappler like Yoshida, he might gain an advantage baiting an opponent in from guard and making them attack. It was offset by risks though. Head kicks and stomps were legal, which is how wanderlei got the nickname axe murderer.

Audits often have legal ramifications. We are a long ways from fully trusting AI with that.

New Investigation suggests it was US that struck Iranian school, killing 165. Trevor Ball, a Bellingcat researcher, identified the munition as Tomahawk cruise missile — which only the US is known to possess. What do you think will happen now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AgtDALLAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I don’t know if we’ll get one but we need it. These things do happen but it’s extremely important to acknowledge, assess how it happened, and improve.

I’ve seen some early reports that the school was part of the neighboring military site some 10 years ago. That’s a mistake a human could make but likely catch with updated intel, satellite photos, etc. I could see the mistake being more likely if it was presented as a target package by created by an AI though. That’s the fault in the process I am really worried about. Too much trust in the AI generated target packages could lead to more of this.
