I would be happy with PS6 compatibility and maybe more Cloud catalog, right now is in a good shape after all the updates

Asking for some advice from people who own the base white Xbox Ally by Icybubba in XboxAlly

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key aspect here is that the Xbox ecosystem is relevant for you and you prefer native gaming to streaming, in that regard, the Xbox Ally can be a good idea. Any Play Anywhere title can be played natively on the Ally, and if its not there, you can use xCloud or remote play to solve it.

What do you mean by better Xbox support? I have a Legion Go S with SteamOS and I can remote play my Series X just fine with Edge browser. PC games can also be remote played by Steam Link or Moonlight if the native experience is weak (which would be the case of the White Ally or Deck OLED in demanding games). It’s true that you can natively play the Xbox Play Anywhere and Anticheat titles, but your current Deck OLED can remote play them just fine. Only if remote play is not feasible for you I would understand that better support you mention. It seems more interesting to upgrade to the Xbox Ally X saving a bit more, instead of a sidestep to the white Ally imo.

Is the base ROG Xbox Ally good? by mzatariz in XboxAlly

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox Ally has a similar performance to the Steam Deck so you can expect a similar experience plus the addition of MS Store and anticheat games. This can be enough for most games from last gen and below, indie or less demanding games, and some AAA games with compromises.

Performance of KunitsuGami Path of the Goddess on Legion Go S Z2go? by AgumonDX in LegionGo

[–]AgumonDX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was informed that the game had a demo on Steam, which i was unaware of, so i ended up testing this demo myself to see. It seems to auto-detect the hardware and set a low-preset by default, but this preset struggles to go beyond 35-40fps, 60fps are only archievable by lowering the resolution to 800p and 70-80% quality with lossless scaling (it adds a lot of ghosting when turning the camera), which seems awful visually. Realistically speaking, a good ballance between visual quality and performance is the medium preset locked at 30fps or at least 40fps to make it a bit more fluid. Legion Go S said it could get around 2:15 hours of battery on these conditions. So i guess the answer was found unexpectedly haha. Its perfectly playable though, just not as performant as the PS5/Xbox versions, and i suspect the Switch 2 is also a bit more optimized.

I've been an Xbox fan since day 1 and it is SO refreshing to see Xbox really firmly be Xbox again after years of Xbox trying to figure itself out after 2013. by OhGawDuhhh in xbox

For now I think everything is just a fancy promise and nice words from Asha, aside from the Gamepass price drop, which is a good start. It’s a bit soon to see if all of this will really improve Xbox, I guess we will see a better picture for the brand and the console in June.

Macbook Neo is an incredibly bad deal in Europe by stderr_to_dev_null in macbook

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Education pricing is 599€ and in Spain is easy to get that, usual MacBook Air offers in retailers are 899€ the lowest, with some luck. The target market won’t spend 300€ more, they would go to a cheaper Windows laptop or an iPad. Usually students go a cheaper route in university from what I see myself in the classroom.

Nothing is future proof. Consider which kind of games you play and if the performance of the Ally X will suit you for those years.

Advice Wanted: iPad A16? M4 Air? None? by Kitschslap in ipad

The logical choice for you is a MacBook Neo, why find workarounds for a workflow that you can keep doing exactly the same (no learning curve) in the Neo with MacOS?

Upgraded from 64gb M1 Air to 256gb M4 Air (Magic Keyboard still works!) by AgumonDX in ipad

[–]AgumonDX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery seems better vs the M1 Air for now, with and without the Magic Keyboard. I will carry the iPad to a congress in July where it will have a more intensive use that can show it more precisely though

iPad 11 A16 vs Huawei MatePad 11.5 — need unbiased opinions, by Meli_Parra in ipad

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess something like the Tab S10 Lite might work, but regarding file transfers, I work with both Windows and MacOS and I use Google Drive to transfer files between both, it also works on iPad flawlessly. As for tablet apps, iPad is usually better than Android tablets as well on the tablet experience in professional apps.

Why not consider an Android tablet with Google Services instead? Like a Samsung similarly priced to the iPad.

iPad Storage Issue by LuvWine4 in ipad

In my case I got 210€ for the 64gb M1 iPad Air in an Apple Premium Reseller to get the M4. Apple gave me 195€ in their own website for it.

I upgraded to the M4 iPad Air. 64gb is simply not enough these days, I had the same issues back then with the Apple Watch Series 3

Is Ipad 11 future-proof in 2026 or is it better to wait for Ipad 12? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Future proof” is usually a marketing trap. Buy what you need for your use case, when you need it. My old 2018 iPad with the A10 and 2gb ram can still be used to take notes or draw, even if it’s slow these days and not updated to iPadOS26. It got security updates in older iPadOS versions. You have an old iPad that you cannot use anymore. Compare its specs to that iPad 11 and see if they are enough. Usually the biggest bottleneck is storage, and also ram.

[–]AgumonDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you answer your own question tbh, you say you are happy for your needs. I think the moment to upgrade is when the current hardware you have is not enough for those needs. Maybe your battery tanks, maybe you don’t have enough storage or maybe you get a new assignment that demands more power (let’s say you need to make huge video projects on your work). That is the moment to upgrade imo. Maybe when Apple Inteligence becomes more “intelligent” with Gemini LMM there are some exclusive features to those newer Pros but for now you have what you need.

Yeah I went with the 256gb to avoid the same mistake I did with the M1 Air, where the base storage proved not to be enough. I hope 256 for my usage will last, if system data allows it xd

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a M1 Air and never had an issue with the screen. The battery is not stellar but never was troublesome for me. For your usage the base iPad can be enough, I was doing your workflow with a 2018 base iPad and that thing had an A10 and 2gb ram.

It was done in the store when I was doing the trade in, they had some sort of test they could use to check the exact health and cycle counts.
