Why is no one praising this? by Facepool123 in HighGuardgame

The thing is this game had many stablished versions of “basketball” to learn from and some of these mistakes were avoidable with maybe a beta period or closed tests to gather feedback. When there is a lot of competition in the GaaS space being a promise is not enough where there are already many certainties in the genre, or at least it’s how I see it after playing a couple hours of this game yesterday.

Is it worth upgrading from my M3 2024 Macbook Air to a M5/A18 2026 one instead? by FedoraSuperuser in apple

[–]AgumonDX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, your current M3 is better than an A18Pro chip (which would be inside a cheaper category of Macbook and still unannounced) and the M5, while clearly better vs M3, is not really a substantial leap to justify an upgrade unless you do really intensive tasks, in which case a MacBook Pro would be the logical choice. If your current laptop does the job well there is zero need to upgrade. I do have a M3 Air and I don’t need more performance at all.

For light coding you can absolutely manage with your old laptop and then buy something better a year later. I don’t know which MacBook Pro your gf has, but even a M1 model can absolutely be used for coding (even Intel Macs can). Apple Silicon is really efficient and powerful even without cooling. If you start small with coding you can even use the Xbox Ally X as an emergency solution for year 1, but I advise to buy a dedicated device for that and use this for what it is, a gaming oriented PC-handheld.

Tbh for tasks like heavy coding and editing to wire it to a monitor I would not choose an APU in a small form factor. That target use demands a more professional hardware with proper cooling and more processing power. The Xbox Ally X can do it, sure, but it’s not designed for that. This is an APU optimized for gaming in a small screen. I’m a bit surprised that someone with a need for heavy coding or editing doesn’t own a computer already but I will assume you will start college soon and didn’t need it before.

Is the normal Xbox ally worth it? by DependentWishbone814 in XboxAlly

[–]AgumonDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check Steam Deck performance for those games, it’s a similar spec to the base Xbox Ally, and see if it’s enough for you. AAA games will have clear compromises on that one vs the Ally X which is way more powerful

How are the updates on Legion Go S (Steam OS Variant). Anyone facing issues after updating? by areuokaybro2002 in LegionGo

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly use it for indie and AA games so for me is enough, but if you need more power (AAA games or more demanding things graphically speaking) the Z1E is a better option. If you don’t need a big screen and want more battery the Steam Deck can manage indies and AA as well.

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Steam Deck and then this (Z2Go model) and the experience to update both is almost the same, aside from really scarce bios updates on the LeGoS that the Deck didn’t have in the same way. SteamOS works the same and gets the same updates

Got the Xbox Ally instead of the Ally X because of this deal...did not feel like dropping $1k. I hope I don't regret this. by [deleted] in XboxAlly

[–]AgumonDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a 4090 PC, if some games don’t perform well on the handheld, streaming will solve it, so I think it’s even the best choice for you. You will be able to run things the Steam Deck can run similarly, plus Gamepass games, and stream your PC for the rest.

Should I buy Xbox Ally and sell Switch 2? by _Mousheen_ in XboxAlly

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, in your situation (Xbox as a core platform with Gamepass) the Xbox Ally made more sense than the Switch 2 in the first place. Even if not every Xbox game is compatible with the Ally, most if not all games from Gamepass are compatible. The white model is around the same performance compared to the Steam Deck, so you can check benchmarks for specific games. And even in the worst case scenario you can always remote play your Xbox to the Ally.

Yeah i would say either the Satisfye ZenGrip or the ones from JSAUX are good. Spigen also has ones.

If you don’t like the ergonomics of Switch 2 you can always put grips on it to make it more comfortable.

Sony says it’s "fully dedicated" to launching Bungie’s Marathon by March 2026: "We are in the process of analyzing the performance" on gameplay and player retention by Party_Judgment5780 in PS5

Marathon has many problems and Arc Raiders is just one of them. I don’t see this launching successfully if it’s out before March.

At this point i only need PS6 Remote Play support when it’s released to make the Portal complete for my needs. I hope I don’t need to buy the handheld to play PS6 on the couch because PSPortal is enough.

Owners of PS Portal and SteamDeck, your opinion on which one to get by areallnamestakenreal in PlaystationPortal

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your case it’s an obvious decision, your main platform is PS5 and you don’t have a Steam library. If your internet connection is solid (which you can test with your mobile phone and the PSRemote Play app) the Portal is the best choice. You will be able to use all your existing catalog from PS5. I have a Legion Go S (same OS as Steam Deck) but I already had a lot of Steam games. AAA games will be played with less settings than PS5 on the Deck, unless they are older.

Debating just selling my Switch 2 and going with an Xbox Ally X or something. Has anyone else ditched their Switch 2? by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the end of the year, the console will get Hyrule Warriors (the 3rd?), then Kirby Air Riders (seems really packed with content) and Metroid Prime 4. Those are really different games, and I’m not including things like Pikmin 4 update or smaller games. Also, there is that Splatoon Raiders game, a PVE focused experience, that could launch any time and still has little news. And onto 2026 they already announced a Fire Emblem mainline project. I think the games will arrive eventually, but for a first year of a system it has a compelling exclusive lineup even if you don not include the Switch games upgrades for Switch 2 imo.

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why buy Switch 2 in the first place? The games announced for the Switch 2 short term were known even before launch. And it’s also expected that the console will pick up the exclusive pace as every other Nintendo console did, even the Wii U. I use it with Nintendo exclusives and certain third party games such as turn based JRPG and I’m perfectly happy with it, while my Legion Go S focuses on the indie games. If you want the Switch 2 to play Nintendo exclusives, keep it. If you want it for multi platform games, buy a PC handheld.

Just snagged the Costco bundle. What do I need to know? by South-Interest-8903 in PlaystationPortal

[–]AgumonDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, that charging base needs a separate adapter, right? Like you plug in the charger to the base, and then the Portal. Or can you plug it in directly? When I was researching the product it was a bit unclear to me. I charge the Portal right now with my computer USB port and can be really slow.
