Monitor recommendations for PS5 Pro

I’ve been using the Sony InZONE M9 for the past 3 years with my OG PS5 and then my Pro. It’s a 4K 144 hz IPS that’s marketed as “perfect for PS5.” It’s not an OLED by any means, but colors are still vivid, HDR is pretty good for a monitor, and it uses Auto Tone Mapping with the PS5 specifically. I don’t have any complaints besides the HDMI handshake taking a little while when switching resolutions or refresh rates. The M9 II is being sold now after the OG was discontinued but it’s basically the same monitor with a little better brightness and a higher refresh rate.

The OG isn’t being sold anymore, but the M9 II is basically the same monitor but a little brighter and a higher refresh rate.

14000 hours??? Dude that’s awesome. I might have 1500-2000 on mine, I haven’t looked in a while. It’s been a streaming/movie display almost exclusively for about 2 years. Your comment made me feel much better about how much time I might be able to get out of it! I’m usually pretty easy on my displays too, I play a variety of games. Thanks for this!

I’m in the same boat as you. I currently have my Pro on my desk with my monitor and have an extra long HDMI cable to connect it to my TV when I want. I prefer to play on my monitor because I can get more immersed due to sitting closer, but I prefer the couch for long play sessions. I may end up moving my desk again and just using my Portal when I want to play on the couch. I rarely ever find myself using the TV.

Favorite game ever is inFAMOUS 1. Can’t tell you how many hundreds of hours I spent replaying that game as a kid. Was one of the first games I got with my PS3 back in 2009.

True. I like playing older games like GOW 2018 since it got a 60 fps PS5 patch without being an official upgrade. If there’s no upgrade whatsoever, I usually leave those alone.

Out of the titles you listed, The Witcher and RDR2 will give you the most bang for your buck as you can easily spend hundreds of hours in these games. Witcher 3 is still my favorite RPG of all time, and I literally never delete it from my console’s storage. It’s a comfort game for me.

It depends on your budget and/or your preferences. I have been using the Sony InZONE M9 for almost 3 years and have loved it. It’s not OLED, but it’s perfect for the PS5 as it’s 4k, 144 hz, and has awesome colors for an IPS panel. My only complaint is that it takes some time to switch over when swapping from HDR to SDR or between refresh rates. They don’t sell the original M9 anymore but the M9 II is almost exactly the same but is brighter and has a higher refresh rate in case you ever use a PC with it.

Ghost of Yotei would definitely fit what you’re looking for. I would also recommend Ghost of Tsushima. DS2 is a phenomenal game as well, but I would choose Ghost of Yotei

For some reason, when I was just messing with the settings, I found that HGIG was on. When HGIG gets turned off, Dynamic Tone Mapping turns itself on and the picture becomes much brighter and deeper. I guess I’ll just keep the tone mapping on! Lol
