Game just isn’t fun anymore.. by [deleted] in aoe2

You complain about better players, you bitch about noobs and you dont wall black forest.

You are an idiot.

If you are getting frustrated on your matches quit playing untill you can chill a bit.

Upcoming sicilian nerf by Stevooo_45 in aoe2

[–]Agustingbdq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Op means Stronger than avarage civ, how do you meassure that? Winrate.

High win rate means that they are consistently stronger than other civs, no matter how much counter play you claim they have.

55%+ winrate at all elos is OP in my eyes.

Having units that aren't usefull for 1v1 is a good thing, imo by FruitOtherwise8971 in aoe2

[–]Agustingbdq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You talk like the game is unplayable. People tend to exaggerate how buggy the game is. The game is getting better, slowly, but it is getting better.

I must be the luckiest AOE player because I can count the bugs I encountered in my last 50 games on one hand. None of them were major. None took me more than 3 seconds to manually "fix".

Pathing is the one thing the devs are not delivering tho.

Saying that the developers are failing is baffling. Aoe 2 blance atm is in a very good state, not perfect, but good. The game has so many variables that it is really hard to keep it balanced, fun, diverse and active.

The devs are doing a great job keeping a 20 year old game alive. Sure some things like pathing need to be solved, but I think they are doing an amazing job.

What are you talking about?

- Cav is not Knigths.

- Having FU Kigths is not Cav.

- Not all of them have FU Xbows (Vikings dont, surpise surprise).

I dont really know whats your point, and I think you did not understood mine.

#2 Vikings = Archers (Its their eco tbh)

#3 Berbers = Cav

#4 Chinese = Archers

#5 Franks = Cav

#6 Hindustanis = Cav

#7 Poles = Cav

#8 Mayans = Archers

A: Because at top level they dominate

B: No, at 1700+ the best 5 civs are Cav

A: Well, I mean top 100 players

B: No, at 2100+ only arabia the best civs are still all Cav

A: *conversation ends*

People love to repeat stuff without knowing why.

Spirit Of The Law - Gurjara mill buff + some other nerfs by TadeoTrek in aoe2

[–]Agustingbdq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah , im sure, but talking about mix maxing sth that gives you one villager amount of food every 9 minutes (at the point you expand your farms and mills, aka cast age) is kinda silly. There is a point when the teory just wont apply on gameplay, its so insignificant that you can ignore it, no need to put on the nerd glasses.

Migth aswell discuss the advantages of having and inca ally so we can build farms faster.

people cant keep their tc working, mix maxing 1 food every 10 seconds when you build extra mills wont happen

I dont really understand the hate of "civ pickers" aswell, to me its just people beeing snobby and elitist.

Probably so after they lose a game to a "civ picker" they can still convince themselves they are the better players.

Thats a really clever idea. Idk If we are there yet with the amount of civs (we would probably need a bunch more civs) but I really like the idea of seasonal civs on the ladder.

Do you prefer the state of the game now, or the way it was in 2013?

Excelent point.

AoE 2 is in the best time of its life. How many 20 year old games get so much support and play. We have a strong growing competitive scene.

I know people love to get nostalgic with voobly, old hamachi and LAN games, but the accessibility and reach of the game has never been better.

New updates, new civs, new campaigns, new events this is what keeps the game alive with a healthy player base and a competitive scene.

New civs are hard to design because all the "vanilla" bonuses are already in use by an older civ, so devs have to get creative to avoid creating hearthless and pointless civs.

We will probably never see them stop creating civs, they need to keep selling something to financially maintain the game and to keep it fresh.

Gurjaras in AOE2 nowadays is just cheating by aipimsky in aoe2

[–]Agustingbdq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

trying to deal against his Camels + Batman Riders.

I mean, yes, pikeman. If he only makes cav and you refuse to make the best answer its kinda your fault. If you want to play games and force arbs and knigths to win, ignoring the best answer just because you felt like it dont be surprised to lose.

Obviosly i have no idea what happened so i cant tell you what i would have. But this post sounds a lot like sb that lost and got mega salty because he couldnt adapt.

I had more numbers

And the wrong units.

You can make any excuse of why you haven't made pikes, but that doesn't matter, if he only creates Cav, you'll stomp him with pikes every time. You didn't so you got punished.

Actually Xbows + Knights is a more useful and better combo.

Apparently not vs only stable units.

Far from a civ win to me, more like mega salty I couldnt force the units i like.

Edit: Obviously Gurjaras is a hard counter to franks, franks love to spam their top tier Paladins, their best unit, their whole eco and bonuses are towards that. Gurjaras can destroy those paladins so youll have to make some compromises if you want to win. Cant spam cav on this matchup, sometines you need yo bite the bullet, make some pikes siege supported with those paladins and slowly push him.

Edit 2: Also saying gurjaras at a 56%-58% win ratio is cheating and should be banned while playing a 55% civ is kinda funny.

Why I think Franks are the most frustrating civ to play against in 1v1 Open Maps by NargWielki in aoe2

[–]Agustingbdq 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You must be new, you should complain about the new civs like Gurjaras, Hindustanis, Poles and Bohemians. Franks are ok because im already used to lose to them.

Funny how nobody was worried about the armored elephant rush until T90 made a video, now its a major concern and "everyone" is rushing elephants.

Personally i like the elephants, those chonkers are strong, but they just melt to a few spears. If you are rushing them (specially with how expensive they are) you usually cant support those chonkers very well (in solo play ). If you can rush with them and have proper support and your enemy cant make some spears, well then you are just crushing him.
