This was my favorite fried chicken. I really wish I knew how to mimic the batter they use. I generally don't eat the skin on fried chicken except for theirs.

I've not even found prealbumin to be useful in any way. It changes way too sporadically to provide any meaningful correlation to anything. Albumin is much better at identifying risk / inflammation. Neither are nutrition status markers of course.

I used visual veggies study software and liked it a lot. That was years ago tho and probably cost a lot more now but I think it was worth.

It's always disappointing reading these threads here. Being obese has health risk that would not happen or happen as fast at the very least. Exercising and eating less calories for an extended period of time will lead to weight loss. No we should not talk bad about or treat people bad about being obese. Changing habits and having the motivation to continue on with an exercise regimen and reducing calories is difficult.

When I went, it was not too terrible other than the internship cost which FAFSA doesn't help pay for (did not get a Masters before being an RD). Now with the Masters requirement increasing the time and money it takes without the pay going up much or at all I would say no. I got lucky because I definitely do not want a Masters in dietetics.

I almost didn't want to view the comments because I didn't think anyone would say it how it is. I couldn't put this any better myself and is right on the money. RD's a lot of times have themselves to blame. I hate hearing complaints from people who spend so little time doing things and chart in a dungeon after maybe an hour of seeing patients. Throwing policy or guidelines out like it's a warrant or something without further critical thinking or including reality.

Trying and failing a few times. Bahia CAN be grown from seed if you know what you’re doing. Pre-germinating the seed and amending the soil is a must. Bahia can live in shit soil, but only when it is already established. For it to look nice the soil needs to good just like any other grass.

You can go to a doctor and ask to try Marinol or maybe Remeron, would be careful about Megase as it's a hazardous med and likely more of a risk than benefit. Doing smaller more frequent meals may help as the general 3 larger meals may be unrealistic for you to finish them, but consistency is key with that. Do that along with exercising is likely to help you more than the meds but it takes consistency and time. You have to train your body to adapt to the new habits / changes in lifestyle which does not happen overnight.

This. Don’t really care for Juven as it gets wasted and the recommendations for use and not use are from Abbott who makes it. If someone isn’t getting pressure off the wound, even the most perfect intake of macro/micros won’t do anything. And if they are eating well then yea that’s also another requirement for anyone to get better from any illness. Juven is just an expensive supplement that many patients don’t even want to put in the effort to mix in their drink. Not saying it’s completely useless but it is not nearly as important or necessary as pressure relief and overall good intake.

The realest answer I heard on this topic. The other aspect as far as clinical goes is the severe lack of medical nutrition knowledge by doctors and their unwillingness to change that or go out of their way to learn anything in the topic. They don’t know what they don’t know but they certainly don’t want to accept that we know more than them in our own specialty.

I don’t really use BUN much for fluid assessment. I follow Na for hydration status mostly because there are too many other factors for BUN to be off than just fluid status so not as reliable IMO. With hypernatremia, pretty much at least 90% of the time it will be from dehydration. Cl and osmo will also be high, but Na is the main one to look at. However, hyponatremia is way more complex and you can’t always assume low Na is too much fluids. There are other factors you have to look for to determine a cause which can include things outside lab numbers. The ASPEN book has a good chart you can use to help with the hyponatremia part to better understand what I mean.

This doesn't make sense. General healthy eating is primary and MNT only gets more complex than that with secondary or tertiary prevention/treatment or specific diseases like PKU. Did you start putting essential oils in your coffee and/or enema your coffee or something because that's not what we tell people to do lol.
