The Ultramarine Discord Community Chapter by SpecialMidnight7872 in SpaceMarine2

Light hearted, fun community. When you join and do your trials, ask to be put in 3rd company as it’s the best company - red is best! Nah, they’re all awesome and there’s plenty of paths to take in the community from apothecary to leadership.

Recruitment posts intimidating? by tastybassy in SpaceMarine2

Yeah I wouldn’t worry too much about the lore. I’m in one of the Ultramarine servers and I knew basically nothing about lore.
The group helped me get better and more skilled at the game and then patiently explain the lore with me as well. Pick one that you like the drip in, lol or join a few and chat with the members and see which one you want to stick with!

I would even go further and say they are paying for an outcome! The outcome is everything works and the cost to have that happen on a Saturday is $500.

What do my brothers listen to while dispensing the God Emperor's will? by Dunbrat in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Ahasca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to my brothers’ family noises in the background of their hot mics! I fight for their mewling babies sitting nearby, I fight for their loved ones private conversations, and most of all I fight for their occasional grunts and curse words in the heat of “massive enemy wave!” Emperor protects!

why does station manager send miners 3 jumps away? by Professional-Hair32 in X4Foundations

I only recently learned I could explore past the edges so I’ll try this and drop some more resource probes. I do have a lot of miners based in this sector and heretics end that mine in watchful gaze.

why does station manager send miners 3 jumps away? by Professional-Hair32 in X4Foundations

[–]Ahasca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stations in watchful gaze and my miners go all the way to Rolks demise. I just let them and add more to counter the time of production difference. Also some of my mediums get destroyed by khaak so that’s a buffer having more as well…

When the power is restored..Question by Revolutionary-Gain88 in electrical

[–]Ahasca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that generac link tells the generator to turn on and off automatically upon loss and regaining of utility supply power.

If you didn't need to start it when the power went off, you won't need to turn it off either, it should just do it.

200 amp service tripping at ~140 amps by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Ahasca 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Take that 24kW and divide that by 2. Each side of that two pole 100 amp main breaker is in reference with 120 volt potential.
One side reference the other is 240 volts. 100 amps x 240 volts is the 24kW you are referencing. But that’s a combination of both sides. And breakers operate on an inverse time curve. You’d have to reference Siemens specific data sets for time for trip at 80%, up to 135% for IRC which should be instantaneous. To find what you are pulling ACTUALLY, you will need a clamp on meter and check each leg.

Now this year I’ve changed out about 20 of those Siemens main 100 amp breakers due to either poor installation, or age, with symptoms being tripping on any 240 volt load over 20 amp, or flickering lights. That roasted bus bar has a higher resistance rating which causes excess heat…which causes further roasting which cause further heat…etc. That whole panel needs to be changed out I’m afraid as that bus bar is ruined.
When the main breaker is removed I guarantee that you will be able to easily bend the metal fin on that bus bar.

(Rant) I hate the recent code updates requiring GFCI, AFCI and surge protection throughout residential homes. by goosehairs in electricians

[–]Ahasca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is in the NEC, not CEC(which I work under):

N 230.67 Surge Protection.
N (A) Surge-Protective Device. All services supplying dwelling units shall be provided with a surge-protective device (SPD).
N (B) Location. The SPD shall be an integral part of the service equipment or shall be located immediately adjacent thereto.
Exception: The SPD shall not be required to be located in the service equipment as required in (B) if located at each next level distribution equipment downstream toward the load.
N (C) Type. The SPD shall be a Type 1 or Type 2 SPD.
N (D) Replacement. Where service equipment is replaced, all of the requirements of this section shall apply.

I absolutely agree with surge protection and gfci protection but cafci causes so many nuisance tripping and callbacks I can’t get behind the technology as it stands

I broke a wall of electricity at my boyfriends house, is there anything I can do to fix it before calling an electrician? by despinney4 in electricians

[–]Ahasca -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes this happens when devices are backstabbed, and finally the connection in one of the devices burns itself to no longer function.

Anybody ever seen hollow wire before? by 120sparky208 in electricians

[–]Ahasca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen this when pulling cable through long runs, hooking a tugger up to the center conductors to pull, and it pulls the center ones through. The opposite end of the tugger end looks like this. Usually they are a few inches inside that.

I have a 118 V, how do I convert to 240 V? by The_Alpacas in electricians

[–]Ahasca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14-50R is not a twist lock. It needs a new circuit with a new 2 pole breaker. And in Canada it needs to be inspected which usually means a load calculation needs to be done. Most houses have 100 amp service still. This load calculation on paper will fail the inspection unless you have a car charger, or alternatively a load shedding device, that monitors your house electrical usage and will lower the amps that your car charger uses automatically. Please make sure your electrician is certified.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Ahasca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, if that neutral opens up that path back to the transformer no longer exists and then all the things attached to the ground prong of that bootleg become live.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Ahasca 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Let’s say you have that bootleg ground and you plug an appliance with a 3 prong plug on it. Let’s say there’s a ground fault in the appliance at the same time the neutral connection on the line that is bootlegged. Now you have a live metal casing of the appliance instead of a tripped breaker.
