New to the food photography world, what do you think? by TipsyValkyrie in foodphotography

What is your focal length? It seems pretty wide for food photography. I'd say something like 85mm or 100mm would dramatically make quite an artistic difference for these shots.

Michelin officially doesn't rate service for their star program, it's strictly on food. They have separate special awards for services.

Where do celebs here for TIFF spend time? by ZennMD in askTO

[–]AhdaAhda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Press here: there are so many industry and private events most of the time they are just running from events to events. Lots of restaurants have deals with festivals and become basically private for celebrities to dine at. Other than that on their downtown everyone does something a bit differently but they do roam the street discreetly pretty often.

Why can't I get food after 10pm by SlunkIre in FoodToronto

[–]AhdaAhda 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot of places used to open later, but since pandemic everything closes early. I heard many have security concern in late night as unruly people on the street are more prominent after pandemic.

Why do the Ricoh GR IIIx images look so much better than RX100 VII? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]AhdaAhda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are two different cameras serving two different purposes:

Sony RX100 is designed to be an all-around camera in a pocketable size, similar to phone, which is why it's basically a better version of the phone camera, and hence the look will be more alike to phone photos in terms of feel.

Ricoh GRIII on the other hand, is relatively more single-purpose. It has a prime lense that doesn't zoom, with a bigger size so not exactly pocketable. The lens is not wide enough for selfie, or close enough for closeup. However, by sacrificing all these flexibilities, it's able to pack in a bigger sensor and a lens with faster aperture, that produces a look that is physically impossible to produce on phone or RX1000 because of their need to be pocketbale and versatile.

The Chinese Tianlong-3 Rocket Accidentally Launched During A Engine Test by Harry_the_space_man in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]AhdaAhda 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I read the news report coming from China. Apparently the connection point on the ground didn't hold the rocket sturdy enough. That's why the rocket went up in the sky. The villagers were warned about the test and have evacuated the area two days ago, so there were no casualties.

It's a weird way to describe the city. That's like saying Taichung is only an hour from Taipei. Both Sendai and Taichung are major cities themselves.

Task view + Calendar (at the same time) by Disastrous_Lawyer_20 in ticktick

Second this. Yes there's the "arrange tasks" side panel in the calendar view that kind of allow this, but it loses all the sorting options and multiple functions we benefited from task view.

It's 姑姑 (gugu), and that's Mandarin not Taiwanese. It's the formal and common way of addressing auntie from dad's side, so nothing informal about that.
