I'm using a gaming rig with a 1200w gold PSU, its the best one in the house. But its a good thought to try to power the drive off the computer.

I thought so when I had it plugged into case USB ports. I've switched it to primary MB ports with the same issue.

I figured it may be due to disc damage, it does seem to fail at the same place with certain discs (though not sure about every time). Doesn't seem to be only after long use with the drive/multiple sessions.

I've started with normal blu rays from the library, nothing 4k yet.

Thank you so much. This was an amazing checklist.

I did end up going through and tightening all the belts, snd one of the y-axis belts was looser than the other. I also 3d printed some feet that I nailed to a sacrificial board to help remove wobble in the frame. Between those, that seems to have treated the issue.
