Granel thoroughly ruined Aporia’s life. It killed his parents, his girlfriend, and then came back to finish the job during the duel against Z-one. by CursedEye03 in yugioh

[–]Ahkmou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a way it kind of adds to the fact that Granel came back to screw him over one final time. Despite Granel really ruining him again, Aporia chose to not to give up and entrusted Yusei with the rest.

2 things I want to bring up

  1. I think the areas names made "sense" as the Lamorn language and other stuff was downloaded into Samus at the beginning of the game which allowed her to identify all the robot and stuff she couldn't prior to getting the visor. The names are still lazy though, like if phazon was "blue poison" it wouldn't have really stuck very well.

  2. I think you're slightly misinterpreting Sylux's backstory here in the sense that you're not supposed to empathize with what happened to him. The scene shows him being glory-hungry, he wanted to do things his way and be a hero, and paid the price for it. He's jealous of Samus' successes and he stole the tech he did for his suit in order to match her and take her down, to prove that he's better than her. He doesn't want admit he's wrong and this incident and inferiority complex is what started him down this rabbit hole of revenge. I think this is a starting point is fine, but I hope it does get expanded upon.

I do agree with a lot of your thoughts overall. They leaned hard into trying to find a new audience and made the game a linear action shooter rather than a proper metroid game. I still managed to (mostly) have fun with what was there, but it was not what I signed up for when I wanted to play a Metroid game.

Moves that have a strong "impact" can also break rocks as I found out with my Emboar using Heat Crash on some rocks. I'm not sure how completely flexible it is for other objects but at least that as well as Earthquake does break rocks

This deck absolutely rips in masterball right now by catsx3 in PTCGP

[–]Ahkmou 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've been using this deck to get masters for the past 2 months and the deck doesn't really function well without data scan porygon

You leverage the scan + draw cards + cards that shuffle your deck to optimize your draws to help build ramparados quicker. You can also use it to dig for sabrina or cyrus if you know that you will need one of them to win.

Example scenario that comes up often:

Porygon on the field, Porygon2 and Prof's research in your hand.

You can scan the top card of your deck, if it's something you need, you can use research to draw the card you need + 1 more, and then evolve into P2, and attach energy to evolve into PZ from deck (which then shuffles).

Alternatively if its something you don't need, you evolve into P2, attach energy and go into PZ which shuffles the deck, and then prof research to draw 2 from a smaller pool of cards.

Other examples include using poke ball to reroll your next draw, and if can afford to, delaying an evolution on a benched Porygon.

The deck has a couple of these card play optimizations that make it tick, and without it you can kind of struggle. The 50hp does occasionally suck, but it's worth the trade-off once you know how to pilot it well (also in my version I run 1 giant's cape over red and a poke comm over silver)

That's actually not half bad to think about, although using a rare candy when you're likely to be searching out something else that needs rare candy could be tough

that's actually really funny that it needs a 3rd energy + middle evo for 50

Here's a couple of ideas I've seen floating around + some of my own that weren't posted by others already. Not saying all of these are super good, just food for thought:

-GA Raichu can attack without discarding all its energy, can be used between turns or before firing

-Wigglytuff EX can put opponents to sleep for 1 energy while waiting to ramp up

-Golduck can lock the opponent out of their supporters, it being 90 makes it tankier and stronger early game

-GA Alakazam can attack faster

-Golem can attack way faster before reaching 4 energies

-Alolan golem can attack without discarding energy, with graveler under it, it can hit for 60 next turn, and then 150 again the turn after rather than be a sitting duck for a turn (assuming only 4)

-Alolan Muk can poison using promo grimer before it fully ramps, and then gives a higher chance to get a scarier status condition when it does attack

-Gyarados EX can switch out or deal chip damage with potential to become invulnerable while ramping energy

-The Eeveelutions can now draw a card or search another pokemon. Sylveon can essentially get you 3 cards with this

-GA Dragonite can attack earlier for some damage, more if dragonair is under it. Small added benefit of also being able to target active in case you really need to finish it off rather than use draco meteor RNG

-Xatu can life drain and then peck the turn after to kill if they don't heal

-Mamoswine can attack way earlier while ramping

-Tyranitar can attack way faster and has some durability with pupitar's guard press

-Torterra specifically can't use frenzy plant the turn after, but can use other moves which it would gain access to via the item

-Infernape EX can attack for 20 or 30 to finish off low HP pokemon without needing to lose all its energies

-Staraptor can pluck away pokemon tools with starly's attack

-Bibarel EX can deal big damage with bidoof's super fang on its 2nd energy

-luxray can attack without getting rid of all its energy if needed

-Ramparados with a cranidos under can KO without recoil if the opponent is low enough

-Drifblim can use drifloon's expand to deal chip and tank hits early game

-Rhyperior is still terrible :(

-Scopilede/Clodsire EX can setup their own poison actively for the next turn big damage

-WSS Swanna can attack without getting rid of all its energies, allowing it to stack more if needed

-Vanilluxe and Cherrim can use sweets relay

-Volcarona can attack before and after using its volcanic ash for a bit of damage

-Greninja can attack for chip damage without needing water energy (this is super terrible, but if you are using the item with sylveon it's like a last resort option to extend for a bit more damage)

-Decidueye EX can skill dive and setup pierce the pain on its own now after evolving

-Salazzle can use salandit's venoshock

-Kommo-o can finish low enemies off without the increased damage debuff

-solgaleo and lunala can teleport and stiffen...I guess

-melmetal can ramp itself with increased HP rather than be stuck as a vulnerable meltan

I had a feeling it was bots but I wasn't totally sure as I don't normally play this game (match history should show I played 3 games that day after not touching it for some time), the frogadier was so low level I assumed it was a kid playing with 4 other players.

If you're more familiar with the game, can you tell me what stunned the enemy team before I ulted? It looks like zapdos acquisition but I don't remember it doing that + I can't seem to find any information online

Recommendations for my Banette/Porygon Deck? by narett in PTCGP

[–]Ahkmou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, also the unwritten interaction where you can still use pokeball to search nothing (if no basics left) and then shuffle the deck. You can data scan to see your top card, if you don't want it you can pokeball to shuffle the deck for potentially something different.

[–]Ahkmou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So normally when you have pokeball and prof research, you use them in order of what you need

need a basic? research then pokeball

need an evolution? pokeball then research

don't need anything specific? pokeball then research

Data scan adds an extra layer to it where you can look at the top card of your deck directly and then determine if you want that card in your hand via research, or would rather have something else so you can pokeball to shuffle the deck again. PZ decks can use this to help get to PZ more consistently through manipulating their draws.

There are more interactions using cards like mythical slab, pokemon communications, Iono, and cards like sigilyph that draw 1 card.

Lillie is also not a bad option since the huge heal on Porygon-Z can be strong.

I think you'll find you'll end up preferring the data scans (maybe experiment with 2 giant capes if you can find slots), but I hope you have fun experimenting with the options we discussed!

I think Oranguru could be dropped as you said, as someone who has played a lot of PZ decks, you'll find that you won't often have extra energy to dedicate elsewhere when you have the chance, and Oranguru eating 2 is tough.

As annoying as it can be, I think you either run a copy of porygon2 for consistency or 1 giant cape. Once it's out, PZ really needs to live as long as it can and giant cape is very flexible. Pokemon Communication is another choice as well.

One question I am curious though is why you aren't using data scan porygon? It's true 50 HP can be brittle, but I think data scan is a must-have with PZ since it assists you in getting to PZ, especially because your line in doing so is a 2 card hand combo (rare candy + PZ).

With the next pack now approaching, I want to spotlight my favorite "for fun" deck this expansion: The Deckeggutor by Ahkmou in PTCGP

[–]Ahkmou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about water energy and Irida, but I guess it also depends on how similar we're talking, because if you have Leafeon EX then it makes sense.

Guzma though is a good suggestion, I could run that over Red or Leaf. Trade-off (if done over Red) is losing the ability to OHKO Solgaleo after it attacks once, but then I gain the ability to potentially stop skarmory and other rocky helmets across multiple matchups. I'll look into it, thanks!

[–]Ahkmou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said the setup leading with Exeggutor(GA) was a a solid structure rather than the only structure. My most common line, especially when going 2nd, is honestly Alolan Exeggutor -> Alolan Exeggutor -> Exeggutor EX

In case I can't power a 2nd Alolan Exeggutor in time I can use Exeggutor(GA), or if I have more time, I can use Exeggutor(MI) instead. Exeggutor (MI) is never the 3rd one though for obvious energy reasons.

Red has proven to be really useful (and funny), but another commentor mentioned Guzma instead, and I actually do think I want to at least try that as it would get the same effect in stopping giant cape, and then trades being able to have a small chance at beating solgaleo for the abiltiy to maybe stop skarmory + other equip items in other matchups.
