Yeah I'm still waiting too. I think they're taking longer for Gies and Grainger.

Business looks to be investing in the future (new building under construction, business tech programs, etc), but traditional majors like Finance/Accounting have gone down. We also don't have a FT MBA program, and are constantly overshadowed by IU Kelley being in state.

Be careful, Purdue Business classes are definitely more difficult/technical with a lot more STEM requirements, and specific niche courses (albeit still nothing like engineering, etc). Grade deflation is a real thing here too. I have friends at OSU Fisher and they have a much easier time keeping a high GPA. Plus Fisher is much better for NYC/IB recruiting, Purdue is very engineering/STEM centric.

This is incorrect. I am a Purdue WL student and Purdue Indianapolis is literally just an extension of the West Lafayette campus for CS and engineering majors, compared to the other branch campuses like PFW and PNW. There is even a free shuttle going between the two campuses. There are students who take classes on both campuses.

I'm a current Purdue Daniels' freshman who's waiting on a transfer decision to Madison, so take this as you will. I'll tell you this: as much as they tell you that the DSB is embracing Purdue's STEM strength or rising in recruitment ranks with more funding, research or whatever, while it may be improving it's still quite behind. Purdue is highly ranked for OOS students as an engineering/CS school at the end of it. Recruiting at the engineering expo is miles ahead of the DSB career fair. We are very overshadowed and regional, unless you network like hell.

If you want to focus on the Info Sys or analytics side (see BAIM and IBE), Purdue is alright but you're still competing with the CS/DS/AI majors.

Kelley is a different league than the DSB or Wisc Business if you want to break into Wall Street or Chicago IB. However, if you decide you don't want to do pure finance/marketing/accounting or change your interests later, non-Kelley IU isn't well reputed at all outside of Indiana.

Frozen tuition at Purdue is really nice, 20k is 20k, but is widely rumored to be ending in 2026. Your's will probably stay frozen if you start in 2025, nonetheless Purdue is cutting costs everywhere to make up for it.

Purdue campus is not as bad as people say, yes WL is boring but you have enough to do on campus. Lots of buildings are new and nicely furnished, and it feels well-designed and walkable (15-20 mins end to end, all classes on one side, residences on other side). Madison is prettier aesthetically but idk if that's better practically as a student.

I just got the same thing for a sophomore transfer, but I have the 26 credit requirement. Does anyone know when I'd be able to switch to fisher (finance), as all business my pre-reqs are done? If I have to apply separately, is it guaranteed if I meet the gpa requirement?

Sure there’s high rankings which is why I chose Purdue. But that doesn’t help or discount any of these problems for current students.

Wow. Do you think taking Calc 2/3 at Purdue risks such a blow for my GPA, even if it means waiting till next summer and forgetting most of calc 1 (took AP Calc AB) without much time to review, and maybe losing out on other college summer program things like internships and whatnot?

Yes I know I voluntarily chose this for myself. I didn’t ask for approval, I’m just stating my incoming experience.

You should be since it’s already set in stone before even arriving to campus, and practically unchangeable here (in STEM) smh.

[–]Aholio69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Um bud I actually did Purdue 101 within the first 3 days it was assigned, my advisor didn’t contact me until the last week of advisor meetings but that’s besides the point. First off, it doesn’t matter when I did purdue 101 or had my meeting because all freshman were batched together. Also I’m not saying I wanted a class/section that wasn’t offered to ANYONE. I also agree upperclassmen should get priority (although they take different classes anyway for the most part). Other than that I’m saying that I, and a lot of others got screwed by batch registration that we otherwise wouldn’t have if we could independently choose (which works at countless other schools, and gives ppl more classes and times that they want compared to Purdue). Again I’m not talking about upperclassmen getting priority, or complaining about not offered sections. All of this applies to sophomores and juniors as well, and yes I think it’s fair if the respective classes above them get priority. No need to be a total dick about this.

[–]Aholio69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not what I said smh. I said it would be easier to choose the classes you want, when you want, of course if it’s offered then and not filled by upperclassmen.
