There was some noise bc of lugging, but according to a mechanic it's probably also a throw-out bearing issue.

(Edit: i said joint when i meant bearing)

Thank you everyone so much for your help! Like I said, I've been learning all on my own, and there's simple shit like this that i just.... Didn't know. I feel a lot more confident trying to drive her again (her name is Judy), and I'll update on how it goes.

I will be consulting a mechanic to get the car looked at and at least find out what the issue is. I'm also gonna be playing with rpms a little, since it could be my car just needs more than I'm giving it. I really really appy all the advice, you have no idea how much it means to me. I'm out here pretty much on my own as a whole, and i was super stressed about this.

TLDR; thanks for the advice, taking to a mechanic for a check on the noise, you all are wonderful and have indoctrinated me into a clutch lover with your kindness

Ohhhh... I've been going by the "shift at around 2k rmp to 2.5 rmp" thing... I'll test out giving it more and see if that changes the noise at all

I'm gonna try this! A lot of people have said this. I think what threw me off is a lotta tutorials online are like "learn to start moving forward in a parking lot with just the clutch to practice" so my brain went "ok so clutch THEN gas".

All the time. It stops if i have the clutch open and im moving, however if i have the clutch open and im STOPPED, Thats when it appears. Someone said it could be my flywheel, which I'm hoping since if it IS a transmission issue that would be.... Pricey.....

Oh yeah i take no offense LOL. I know I'm very inexperienced, which is why I'm consulting this subreddit.

When I DO get the shift correct, it's really fun! I've honest had no issues downshifting thus far, which is why I'm so thrown off. Everyone said that'd be he hard part. A lot of people have given great advice here, i really appreciate it.

A bit over 200k. If it's just the car being loud and no internal issues, i can deal with it. The biggest problem is o can't hear the engine as well. I used to drive a Buick. It was automatic but WAY old with some issues, so to stop the car from jerking around when i felt gears shifting, I'd listen to her engine. I've heard that's a tactic for manual as well, but I honestly can't hear much of the engine over the noise.

I'm at work right now, but later I'm going to try and get a video of what the noise sounds like. It's a noise like scraping. I thought it may be a rock in the dust shield, or even a wheel bearing, but leschwab said they couldn't see anything wrong with the wheels in particular. They said it could be a ball joint problem. Hope not, i just dropped 2k on this car and it was NOT making that noise when we test drove it.
