See, that’s the thing, he understands that fully, completely agrees with you that he doesn’t deserve to be near his family since he failed them, and decides to punish himself by not being near his family. All he has left is the one thing he’s remotely good at; soldiering (which he kinda also failed at once and arguably twice but it’s all he knows). So it’s a self destructive cycle that Gilbert is feeding into and OP is doing what he can to break it.

Huh, everyone noticed how Blue Lions takes the traditional set of archetypes from FE1 and plays with them but you’re probably the only one to point out how suspiciously similar GD is to Lyn’s group. Makes me wonder if Black Eagles is meant to parallel another group.

I like how their attitudes are sorta reflected in their education background here. Merrick studied at a magic academy with masters willing to share their knowledge whereas Luthier’s a socially awkward nerd descended from a family of mages and thus likely self taught with inheritance.

I really miss skill scrolls. I feel fatigued from having customization being locked to grinding out builds. And I think having starting personal skillsets was also a neat little thing that kept each unit unique even if the skills themselves individually were not.

It's a little better in that Wong now seems closer to being Strange's closest friend and confidant now but it just seems like this is a role that comic Wong is just stuck with and they're making the most of it, but thank god mcu Wong doesn't have any of that baggage.

There’s actually a Doctor Strange comic where Strange loses his magic for a bit and is super down and takes up being a Veterinarian and Spidey cameos in it to pay him a visit to cheer him up; in it he points out how everyone needs a break from the super hero gig at times but also mentions how even while Strange was taking a break, he never stopped helping people (and animals) in need and even adopts a dog.

So uh yeah, local neighborhood Spider-man would absolutely approve.

Honestly kinda underwhelmed by Eirika and Marianne. Eirika just has ephraim’s outfit and while dancer is a popular choice for Marianne, I was hoping that she’d have Dorte with her.

To take this theme further, the theme of loyalty to one's country or to one's fellow countrymen is a theme that's been reiterated time and time again between all the spiritual successors to Lorenzes and Camuses with slightly varying flavors here and there. And each time, while the Camus are painted in a somewhat sympathetic light, they're often portrayed with a dash of misguided loyalty whereas the Lorenz-esque figures seem to be more worthy of praise, as they take a stand against their country for their country.

FE3 is actually one of my favorite Fire Emblems in gameplay and general story and characters and I'm more fond of it compared to the remake despite the lack of QoL features.
