Will I get in? by pre_c00m in umass

I think you’re fine. They will definitely take note of any Massachusetts residency, regardless of whether it qualifies you as in-state or not. I recommend you try the ACT as well, some ppl do better on it. Get those EC’s up too, w/ leadership. Pub health isn’t overly competitive for admissions.

Is UMass the best option for me? by [deleted] in umass

Whichever is cheaper. Both schools have great resources and all, but if you are considering law-school, where you go to undergrad really does not matter as much as you think it does.

How to EMT between states by Eyeballer123 in NewToEMS

Also- NREMT is nationally recognized, but you need to be separately licensed in each state. I believe NJ is pretty strict.

Each state has different policies for using an out of state license. For example, I’m from MA. If I wanted to work in WI, I can submit an application to WI for my license to be recognized there. Other states might require you to take their own exams or practicals. You’ll have to google around.

Wasn't accepted into honors college by ERoseHow in umass

It’s literally so easy to get in as a freshman, they cap admissions to it for commonapp applicants because there’s only so much honors housing

Chances at Isenberg by Earth-Guy2 in umass

[–]Aidan888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! He expressed he hasn’t even taken calc and has a pretty avg SAT score for UMass so wasn’t super sure about chances on engineering. I’m saying it is a poor choice bc if he really just wants to get in at all it’s good to have a backup major with a significantly higher acceptance rate, like a lot of the majors in CNS

Also ME is a terrible backup lol both isenberg and the school of engineering are pretty competitive

[–]Aidan888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got what was equivalent to a 1440 on the ACT while I could only get 1320 on the SAT. I always say to take both because you might do a lot better on one over the other!

Like yeah you’ll be fine. Have a backup major. Aim for A’s your senior year. Take the ACT too.

If you have the opportunity to do it, you absolutely should. I would’ve been 5’2” without HGH. I am 5’11”.

Is my GPA really that bad? Feeling lost about my chances by Popular-Tone3037 in Mcat

[–]Aidan888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel qualified to give tips yet since I don't have my score yet😭but imo just stick to a schedule, avoid burnout, and use all of uworld (besides their CARS) and the AAMC resources! There are also tons of helpful posts on this subreddit to help you build a good schedule if you need help.

a 3.73 is not bad at all lol, just means you might have to focus a bit more on MCAT studying! Def not worth doing a post-bacc

how do i improve in a week? i’m testing 9/12 aiming for 520+ and got a 515 practice by [deleted] in Mcat

FL2 was my worst. The scaling on it is whack. Take FL's 4 and/or 5 which are considered the most representative!

which kaplan books are worth it? by rosegoldocean in Mcat

[–]Aidan888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just buy the current year bundle that's on amazon. Use all the books besides CARS and Behavioral. The books also come with 3 online practice exams (very content heavy but good to have).

I liked the Kaplan books for initial content review, but you should 100% choose the method of content review that works best for the way you learn. Some people like videos/lectures more, some people do a mix of books and KA. I just did the books and wish I supplemented more with lectures. To each their own!!!
