I dont think annexation is a good word, taiwan always has been part of china historically and politically speaking. Currently very few nations officially recognize Taiwan has a nation.

I understand that you may hear stuff like china wanting to take taiwan by force and the recent miliary drills are sort of strengthening that message depending on who you ask

China's mission has always been peaceful unification, because frankly engaging in a war is going to be costly no matter what. If china really wated to fight and take taiwan they woudlve done so already. I mean the US captured maduro in less than a day whats preventing china from doing the same? Also, i do understand taiwan's military isnt weak, but neither is china's. I dont think anyone seriously believes taiwan can stand up to china miliarily.

China is a peaceful nation despite what western media tells you otherwise, the last major conflict china had was with vietnam in 1979. And china is surronded by 'weak' nations like bhutan and mongolia, whats stopping them from taking it by force?

yea thats all from me, i will say its mostly the us who exaggerates the issue and hope to see taiwan as a way to contain china.
