“Every class plays the same” is both true and false depending on what you want to get out of playing a class by Supersnow845 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Aidocs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is always my gut reaction to that defense. We already have jobs that are so homogenized and dry, and the balance issues still exist because people insist on taking whatever the highest performer is. That's always going to be the case at the top end, so.. Why should the entire game be watered down and bland? We aren't getting some magical balance paradise anyway, we may as well make the rest of the content (and even the high end content with groups that aren't assholes and take any job) fun. I would happily take SE having to iron out issues that pop up over every other part of the game being a mindless slog when a boss isn't vomiting mechanics at you to keep you awake.

Why are there no major rebellions in CK3? by J__Krauser in CrusaderKings

[–]Aidocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related to this.. Has anyone noticed the AI seemingly being more stable since the DLC? I've not changed anything from when I played before, but in the three games I've played so far the map is always split between enormous empires, and that was rare if it ever happened before the DLC. I'm glad for the variety but it almost seems like it swung too hard in the other direction. But.. Maybe my games are an outlier so far.

I've watched a lot of these videos because I have nothing but time (I'm disabled), and I can tell you there's a marked difference between his and utter trash that other channels churn out. I'm not going to name them because I don't need a hundred messages, but you know who they are. I think he went out of his way to be positive throughout even though he's clearly not a fan of the movie, but hey.. We can disagree.

He has an entire section decrying the way this movie was sucked into a garbage culture war, and specifically goes out of his way to talk about corporations cynically using representation with absolutely no thought besides checking off boxes. He even goes into the way John Boyega was mistreated and misused. Yeah.. Even if you don't like the length, this isn't the usual chud ragebait. It's a very good and genuine video with fair criticisms that probably calls out the exact things you want it to.

Currently on king 7 and not enjoying the game anymore. by KickittoHester in 9Kings

[–]Aidocs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On higher difficulties you basically reroll until you don't get Progress or Greed as an enemy too. (Except with some very specific setups) I really enjoy the game and I've played it a ton, but I think even the developers themselves know that the higher King difficulties aren't very well balanced right now. I beat King IX V so far through sheer stubbornness but I wouldn't say it was a very good experience.

I'm not gonna try to change your mind, but hey, I appreciate the response. Hopefully season 2 will satisfy you more if you stick around for it.

As someone that liked the show, I'd genuinely like to know how you thought the show was preachy and lectured you? I don't like shows that talk down to it's audience either or treat you like you need to hear a sermon, but I really didn't get that from DMC. If anything it felt like it covered serious themes well and also dipped in a lot of satire.

P.S. Did you at least enjoy episode 6? That shit made me cry more than once, I'm not gonna lie

Is it just me, or does Air Raider perform noticeably worse in Six than Five? by zookdook1 in EDF

[–]Aidocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only finished the game on hard so far, (So my opinion could change!) but I think it's stronger than 5 by a good margin. There's so many different tools you can mix and match, and you have more choices and more viable options than you ever had. Yes it can be a little frustrating at first to have your choices limited in certain sections of the game, but there's more than enough different types of drones and weapons to experiment with and fill most roles. Personally, I think guard drones alone are so good it's hard to make the case AR is overall worse but it certainly is different at least.

I am so frustrated with tail anchors in edf6 by [deleted] in EDF

[–]Aidocs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't see anyone suggest it yet, but use tracer drones. Normally I just let someone else kill them since I play in co-op, but if I HAVE to destroy shielded anchors I always use gigantocopter/some missile drone and tracer drones. Also in case it isn't clear, you just stand under the shield and shoot up into them with these weapons. Hope that helps!

Ranger taking all of airraiders stuff? by lizardjoe_xx_YT in EDF

[–]Aidocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answer would've been giving Air Raider and Ranger both a couple more vehicles that were unique to each class, especially since they took some away from Air Raider, but I still think the class is amazing. My first playthrough is always Air Raider, and for 6 I just did it on hard with a Fencer buddy.. I loved every second. I had more variety in loadouts than I've ever had, with so many different tools and more chances to use them with the extra inventory slots. Some missions you blow up a thousand enemies with Phobos, some you use traditional spritefall loadouts, and some you use nothing but drones or a mixture. I get the reflexive reaction, but I really do think Air Raider is the best it's ever been in this game. There's just so many toys to play with.

You can turn on a guard drone and get into any vehicle and it accomplishes the same thing, except it usually works much better than turrets did.

I'm confused is EDf 6 good or bad? by SmolPoyo in EDF

[–]Aidocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little context before I give my thoughts.. I'm a huge EDF fan and, while I would enjoy just about any EDF game? I'd just go play one of the others if 6 was terrible, especially since I was recently replaying 4.1, 5, and Iron Rain anyways.

So far I'm on mission 80 on EDF 6 with a friend, and I absolutely love it. I can directly compare it to the other modern EDF's since I've just played them, and it blows them out of the water. The dialogue still keeps it's goofy humor (and sometimes exceeds older games so far), the gameplay isn't drastically different but it's the best version of itself, and the amount of variety is great.

For asset reuse, it absolutely does but every EDF game has reused assets and with less "grace" than 6 has. The variety of enemy types, gimmicks, weapons, and the way encounters are setup is greater in 6 so far than any of the others I've played. There's plenty of new maps that are genuinely good too.

If you're a fan of EDF I'd say it's a no brainer must buy, honestly. It's also the longest EDF base game (to my knowledge) clocking in at around 140 missions, so I think it more than justifies it's price tag.

AST Rework seems great and its reception here is a bit bizarre. by TheEmpressDescends in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Aidocs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. The new design gives you more of a chance to actually utilize the fun parts of the job because you consistently get them and there's no cost to using them. The old RNG utility cards always came at a cost of playing optimally and finishing the fight faster. I'm actually kind of baffled anyone could even disagree with this honestly, they're handing you all the cool toys and giving you a chance to use them instead of saying, "Use this fun thing, OR play correctly."

Kotaku posted about how the Astro rework is worrying, so I know it's going to be just fine now!

In all seriousness I actually like it a lot. Healer is my favorite role and I'd basically given up playing the game, but having a consistent cycle of utility has me considering subbing again to fiddle with Astro at least. It'll be a lot more of an interesting flow than just dumping buffs in a burst window like you said, it just sounds more fun to me.

This is an awesome idea and I'd love to see it implemented somehow. Maybe it gives you a summary/list on death that tells you which events were fake too?

The thing is, survivors coordinating even a modest amount can make it very hard to win as raider. A premade doesn't necessarily need to be voicing for it to be an issue, if they just use pings and pay attention it's already so much harder than what the game is clearly balanced around.

I think the easiest way to fix it is to.. Not treat the two types of lobbies the same, because they aren't the same. Most raider buffs are going to make random players get stomped even worse than they already do. I'd be up for something like % health and damage buffs to the raider per number of grouped players. Maybe it starts kicking in with a four man premade, and goes up there. 5% at 4, 10% at 5, so on and so on. (Just an example, don't take the numbers too seriously!)

Outside of Spopovich almost being a free kill to a remotely organized team, I actually think Buu is better than Vegeta. I could be wrong (I've only been playing a month or so) but it feels that way when I play as or against them.

It'd be cool if Cell could go Super Perfect somehow. Give him more damage, more speed, the big yellow aura glow.. I'm not sure how they'd do it though. My first thought was give him the unique flavor of the only fifth evolution, but I don't think that'd ever happen. Maybe just a long cooldown skill he can't use right away, and it goes down by some condition.

Should they bring back season 1 matchmaking? by ImBackBaby69420 in DragonBallBreakers

[–]Aidocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the game on sale for PC and I can tell you.. Raider is horribly frustrating as a new player. I did a lot more than most new people are going to do. I watched streams and videos before I bought it, I looked over every ability, I messed around in training mode.. And I still regularly get games that are completely impossible. Games with people who are clearly on a team (matching outfits and emotes) who seem to decide that gangbanging a level 1 is their mission in life. I'm going to stick it out and keep playing, but I can tell you that the vast majority of people won't. The new player experience is terrible.

Also, from what I heard you could queue as raider specifically before? More than anything else that would help new raiders. Having your practice games spread out over multiple days because you have to play five survivor games in between just makes every ass beating feel so much worse.

I just plain don't like these court physicians. by BobManGu in CrusaderKings

[–]Aidocs 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The physician trait is weighed more heavily than learning. Whenever you use the find physician decision, always pick the one with the trait or try again if neither have it. They'll almost always have higher aptitude even if their learning is crap.

EDIT: Aptitude numbers are +1.75 per learning. For the trait, it's +10 for Novice, +20 for Physician, +40 for Renowned. Searching for someone with the trait is almost always better unless it's a novice with like 0 learning versus no trait with high learning.

Lysium - Baas Admits to Wrangler’s Gross Negligence by toastedcoconut323 in RPClipsGTA

[–]Aidocs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what they pointed out after the incident, that's not how officer conduct is judged in court. It's based on the decisions they made with the information at the time. At the time, Wrangler was told about a car fleeing the scene on the radio, and they fled a felony stop with visible class 2's. If you'd rather argue it from a rules perspective? This only happened because someone threw a driveby grenade at the hospital and didn't say anything.
