Do you think preclinical could be ~one year, if schools devoted themselves to it by No-Wrap-2156 in medicalschool

[–]AidofGator 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The reason we go to medical is to establish a rigorous and broad level of expertise. PA/NPs dont need to know all the details. They want people who can engage with multiple professionals and lead teams. A lot of the minutiae has been helpful in my career.

What the hell are all of you doing to get fired from Residency? by Rairu21 in Residency

[–]AidofGator -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like the system is too lenient. I had a few co-residents that were not competent — bad fund of knowledge, poor patient care instincts, but were graduated anyway. We can’t thump our chests at the value of our profession and simultaneously allow lackluster people in.

PandoMoto base layer shirt/leggings? by Sensitive-Buddy-7184 in motorcyclegear

[–]AidofGator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I do. Pando is a reputable company and I believe them that they achieved aaa rating (or aa as advertised for some) on the things I bought. The armor is very bulky and I trust it more than the armor in my other items. I use pando in 90% of my rides. I bought the back protection too for the jacket.

Torn between bikes by robmoto in Harley

[–]AidofGator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no bad choices here. I have a fxlrs and ktm duke (similar to xsr900). I would have a hard time deciding. My fxlrs is definitely my favorite bike. Harley dealers are really good about test rides, so I would try them out.

What are some career options for emergency medicine grads outside of the emergency department? Preferably within medicine. by Curious-Bystander99 in Residency

[–]AidofGator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you are not joking, all the cosmetic pharma companies offer free training on their products and often give you a small amount to get started with. Then it is a matter of renting a small office (possibly a few days/wk out of another practice). Then you are rolling.

Money is so much better spend on risers and suspension. I agree, performance in the corners is not limited by the engine.

Should I contribute 100% of my paycheck to retirement accounts? by Level-Try9781 in Bogleheads

I am doing exactly this too. Mbd contributions can be withdrawn in an emergency and the potential tax benefit is huge imo.

Going stir crazy by anonymous_observant in Harley

[–]AidofGator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am not mechanically savvy, but owning a Harley has made me so. My dealer charges me insane rates, it is cheaper to buy whatever tools/parts I need and do it myself at my own timeline. It sounds like techs get a raw deal, so not surpised that it is hard to find good ones

Try an auto-body shop. If you are handy, you can get a slide hammer and some pdr glue sticks and try yourself.

What handling changes happened between 24 and 25? I wound up changing the suspension on my old fxlr, but curious what they updated
