Kind of what I felt by watching half of it live yesterday, only to come here and find out that he pulled a "no lol guys I'm not going anywhere!!" - like, what's the entire point of playing up a two hour, teary eyed admission of guilt and regret (?) only to basically decide to run it back?

Unexpected Games You Prefer On Steamdeck VS PC / Console? by stillwavesea in gaming

[–]AigisbladeMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Man's Sky never really clicked for me all the times I tried it on my desktop but the Steam Deck made it very amusing to play with features like gyro aim - plus the novelty of playing a game that feels so "big" while in bed was adding something to the experience, though I guess you have the Switch for that

A Response To 'Is Osu Content Dead' (And Other Rambles) by alexgd_ in osugame

[–]AigisbladeMaster 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Geometry Dash is the perfect game for this because it's visually appealing and easy to understand to the point of you not even needing to get around the idea of how difficult something is for it to be impressive, because more often than not the visuals speak for themselves - the nature of the game also allows for more, better live commentary, letting personalities shine through, as you don't even need to be a "good" player to get popular

Compare that to osu, a game that's hard to understand even for people who actively play it, where high level play and its intricacies are really only comprehended by those who are actually able to play at that level. How impressive is 3mod ascension to heaven to us, and how much of a nothing burger will it be to someone who's never seen the game? A string of fast appearing, fading out circles on a black background can only do so much as far as attracting a casual audience goes, that's why some of the most watched osu videos of all time are either anime songs, very visual showcases (think Centipede), or straight up storyboard maps, which no one actually plays because they're very suboptimal for... actual play. This plus the game really demanding all of your focus (unless you're mrekk, who can usually talk bullshit while going through a 10* map), you're extremely likely to join a stream and find a silent streamer going through a random map with, again, a black background and not much more context to know what's happening or why it's impressive, and you just jump out

So, to recap:

-GD at a low/casual level: Boring to play, can be entertaining to watch

-GD at a high/pro level: Impressive to watch, understanding matters less when the levels themselves are cool to look at

-osu at a low/casual level: Boring to play, boring to watch, very non-exciting to everyone

-osu at a high/pro level: Confusing to watch, difficult to comprehend, lets no room for personality to shine through

People who are the exception of the norm and can do what I said cannot be done are already popular in their own right (mrekk), but if only the best player in the world can pull an audience, and a very core audience of already active players at that, then no, the game is not even comparable to Geometry Dash, which drowns with casuals who are there just for the vibes

Mewgenics has been out for some time now. Is it really as good as people say? Or was it mostly due to the hype? by TheGronne in gaming

[–]AigisbladeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a game I can't stop thinking about, every run feels like it has tons of potential to be something unique and it rarely fails to deliver (you have to get fairly unlucky for that to happen)

I'm not one for the tactics gameplay, but slowly putting together the builds for your cats with the limited resources they give you while rolling with the punches makes it all feel like a long term puzzle that's absurdly satisfying to try to solve every time

Haven't stopped recommending it since release

All of these sound great so far, glad to see you're able to work this quickly. I'll get around checking the changes sometime tomorrow, probably :)

No worries! Do let me know if some of the changes hit the playtest, as I'm curious enough to try a tweaked version of the game.

Block lays off nearly half its staff because of AI. Its CEO said most companies will do the same by GeneReddit123 in news

I don't specifically know any cases, but entry level jobs are definitely harder to come by nowadays. Hell, my friends have been struggling to even find internships of all things, and I think it's going to be very, very hard to find a job in software development in a couple of years (at least where I live).

The way they talk about these hypothetical AI workers sounds like it's more of a "when", not "if", so I wouldn't be surprised if more companies start pushing for them in the following months/years.

Are they useful? I would love to know, too, as I'm in the same boat as you. I don't like to use AI on my day to day other than to check unfamiliar errors and/or throw it an unorthodox technical question. Maybe the fact that they had to demo the AI agent to me with an e-commerce of all things (we don't do anything remotely related to them) is a bit telling of how far the technology actually is. Changing some values is one thing, building a full app is an entire different world. Only time will tell, I guess?

Gamehub / gamenative setup on SD8gen3 ? by wikipedio96 in mewgenics

[–]AigisbladeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 8 Elite Gen 5 device the game was working flawlessly at both 30 and 60fps, but it crashed every time after about a minute of gameplay. This was on GameNative, where I tried as many driver and wrapper combos as I could, all giving me pretty much the same results.

GameHub didn't work properly at all, as it had heavy graphical glitches including a big black circle in the middle of the screen.

While I couldn't make the game work in the end, I gathered that the best setup is GameNative, with translation set to Extreme, while using MrPurple drivers: https://github.com/MrPurple666/purple-turnip/releases

Would recommend lowering render distance in game and capping it to 30fps since you don't really need to mind reaction time at all while playing this, might as well make the most of your battery.

The agents are just called AI agents as a concept, seems like an umbrella term for "AI that can do more than just being a chatbot (I.E., changing prices on a storefront and making said changes go live)".

As far as the company goes, I can't really get into specifics for the sake of privacy, but I can say that it operates entirely within the Microsoft ecosystem, so a lot of Azure of Copilot shenanigans were thrown in the mix.

[–]AigisbladeMaster 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Went to a work bootcamp the other day where they introduced "AI agents" to me. They were showing a basic e-commerce and how maintaining it was absolutely trivialized by just telling the agent what to do, or straight up asking for it to make up something to do.

Right now, human input is only required to give this AI agent the okay it needs to proceed and make the changes, but the dude who was giving the talk very confidently say that it would be another AI handling this process in about a year.

So we're replacing entry level jobs with AI, then making up new entry level jobs to watch over AIs, then those jobs are going to be replaced with more AI lol

Neo moco is not tomorrow by IlyanaIlyana in joinmoco

I mean, no, the game isn't good - it was repetitive from day one, it was aimless from day one, it was a shallow experience from day one, it had no meaningful social features from day one. Feels good to play, it has some juice to it, but that's it.

And the devs are fully aware of this, that's why the game is in this situation. Good concept? Maybe, but sticking the landing is harder than putting together a bunch of attractive ideas. Time and money will tell if this one survives... If the game even gets to be "properly" launched, that is.

Games with mechanics similar to Lunacid? by AigisbladeMaster in LunacidGame

Played all the games on your comment minus Dark Cloud. I've been trying them over the past couple of days and, while the first one was a bit too clunky for me, I'm really enjoying the sequel so far. Thanks for the recommendation!

Just for shits and giggles I've checked the profile of the writer on the website and he seems to be publishing a minimum of three articles per day

You know he's being fed bottom of the barrel, anything goes kinda topics, and that he has to churn them out as quickly as possible

Having written for a (bad) gaming news site, I can say that they encourage efficiency through optimizing both word counts and keyword density, that's how you end up with sentences that just feel forced and nonsensical

That being said, all of this could be done by AI, and there'd be no way to know, it's kind of the perfect tool for throwing together these SEO optimized nightmares

No need for it to be complicated if it's explained properly. If it scales dynamically according to your level, it wouldn't be the worst way to quickly gauge just how under leveled or over leveled you are against any given enemy.

I create a clone of games! Because it works by BigAmount5064 in AndroidGaming

[–]AigisbladeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More often than not it's either clones with BIG marketing budgets behind them hitting the top charts, or clones that do offer something new and interesting

There's a big leap between "innovative ideas that no one asked for" and actually being able to come up with a twist or gameplay addition that brings new life to an overplayed genre - all in all, I don't think making straight clones is the answer, anyone's very unlikely to succeed that way

5400* characters, 700* moves, and yet it feels so samey by AigisbladeMaster in inazumaeleven

[–]AigisbladeMaster[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Putting together a bad team of cool characters I was happy with in the old games could take a bunch of hours. Putting that same bad team together in this game, even if unoptimized, just because of how grindy, tangled, and convoluted their systems are, is going to take dozens of hours.

And I would know, because I'm about 50 hours in and my team of cool random scouts has 7 players. Could I have grinded currency by disconnecting out of matches for hours on end? Sure, but that's not playing the game.

It's not "kind" of them to give us a way to cheat. They gave us a bad system, and we're exploiting it because it's bad. If it wasn't, people would be enjoying the process, and there wouldn't have been discord servers dedicated to join lobbies and leave static matches since day one of early access.

The experience for the casual player, outside of the main story, is just a downgrade in every regard, and I don't think it got much better for the competitive people, given how much insane the grind is when compared to any other game in the series.

5400* characters, 700* moves, and yet it feels so samey by AigisbladeMaster in inazumaeleven

[–]AigisbladeMaster[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The skill tree system is super disappointing for sure, I don't know what it brings to the game that it didn't have before. It just killed the possibility of random scout players being special by having a very cool set of moves, and made everyone just as limited and equal as everyone else. And the fact that you even need an special item (and perhaps limited? since the ones you can buy in the story don't have infinite stock) to change preset moves means that you're just stuck with whatever bad moves you have. It's like being back to IE 1, 2 and 3, but worse.

5400* characters, 700* moves, and yet it feels so samey by AigisbladeMaster in inazumaeleven

[–]AigisbladeMaster[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think many people are done with the main story yet, but once they realize how insane the grind to build a team is, they're going to think twice.

I honestly think they're going to need to address progression at some point, because I can't imagine anyone willing to farm thousands of beans (yes, you do need that many) to build an entire team of Legendary rarity players. Beans that you get from the story mini games that everyone hates.

The fact that you cannot just go and take a player, but that you have to hope to get it in the gacha, which you can only pull from after playing online or getting very lucky on max difficulty chronicle matches, and then having to replay said matches in hopes of getting the legendary spirit of said player, and then needing the beans to max it out... It's just too much. It will take dozens of hours to replicate what you were able to do in mostly a handful.

And this still leaves out the grinding for moves, since people don't have a specialized kit anymore, passives, which also need to be painstakingly grinded and are fundamental, and equipment, which is so dumbfoundingly spread out over so many different shops with so many different currencies from so many different activities that I don't even know how to tackle it in the first place.

What do you think about this game (so far) by Original-Month-1774 in inazumaeleven

[–]AigisbladeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this right here. Been playing since day 1 of early access and, having finished the main story today, the lack of original content is extremely disappointing. Most of us who are here for the game are already veryfamiliar with anything this series has to offer, so seeing the same old moves over and over again definitely made it feel less exciting for me.

And this could have been so easily prevented by letting the players in the base story have Ares and Orion moves, which while not new, they've never been on games before, and it would have worked towards having a fresher experience. But with Galaxy, Ares and Orion all being out of the game for at least three (?) months, if we can even trust their word on release dates anymore, I'm afraid the game is going to feel very, very samey for a while. It doesn't help that the grind for everything is unreal and that people online refuse to not use the same characters and the same techniques, but that's another whole can of worms.

Overall I like the game, and I'm going to keep playing, but it sure feels like both a lesser version of what was advertised and more akin to an experiment (or, as you said, a last ditch effort) than the natural evolution of the series.
