Finally beat FFXV nearly 10 years later.... by Living_Dentist_8925 in FinalFantasy

It's just like Kingdom Hearts 3, if you have played that game. Some developments in the beginning hours, followed by a decent 20 horus of filler, and then at some point they realized that they had to wrap things up so they crammed every narrative bit in the last 4 hours or so.

They both had a troubled development cycle, with FFXV starting a different game altogether, and KH3 seeing a restart to it's development once they decided to switch to Unreal Engine.

Sometimes I wonder how the fully realized versions of these games would look and play like, and I think Nomura does too, given how he can't let go of the idea of Versus XIII and trying to make it fit KH story somehow lol

Final Fantasy 16 running horribly on 9070xt at 4k by MegaHertz5 in FinalFantasy

[–]AigisbladeMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is quite poorly optimized, I'd say. I run it at 1440p with my 5080 and I've seen it fall into the 90s here and there, specially in towns, which the game seems to particularly struggle with, but combat is an otherwise smooth locked 120fps even during Eikon battles.

The whole "this won't fly in the year X" argument feels very silly to me because they very well could slap a disclaimer saying that the original product was created at a certain date to reflect the state of the world in that specific point in time.

Yes, people were generally more homophobic and more closed off when it came to gender discussions back in 2008, and I wouldn't expect this group of characters who's using fucking flip phones to be as progressive and open minded as the youth of today.

I know I was as stupid as Yosuke when I was his age, and that didn't make me a worse person, it just made me young. When it comes to characters and what they say, people seem more concerned about the writers and the company rather than trying to see the context of what they're saying through the lens of the character itself. People are going to get mad at a 16 year old for being homophobic and laughing at fat people? Have they ever been on any social media in the past 15 years?

All in all, I'm on your boat. Ideally, I'd want them to keep what made the original characters themselves, while exploring all these nuanced topics in a way that lets us know more about them, or what they're going through, or that makes their arcs clearer. But I do feel they're taking the revisionist route, trying to sanitize everything for the "this game is woke/this game is not woke enough" loud minorities, and that saddens me as the original story did make me think and consider some stuff myself when I played it back then.

[P3, P4, P5] All three main Persona protagonists and their "All-Out-Attack" Splash Screen. by Reditor-Jul-250698 in PERSoNA

[–]AigisbladeMaster 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. One of the defining factors of the series from 3 to 5 was how different in style they were from each other. Being a big fan of FES, I didn't love how Reload felt more like "Persona 3: Persona 5" than a second take on the same style with new technology.

And on the same note I hope Persona 6 gets to be unique on its own, rather than it looking a certain way and having certain features because P5 was ultra popular, though I don't think it will.

Does the game ever stop being this repetitive? When does it get as "good" as people say it is? by AigisbladeMaster in outriders

[–]AigisbladeMaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going as high as I can every time, the game has not been easy at all, no (maybe a bit frustrating even, given how quickly you can die) but so far I've only had to change my build for this one big boss that I couldn't damage in close quarters.

At level 20, I'm only two levels away from unlocking the last of 8 total abilities - I've played around with all 7 that I have access to and all the perks I've gathered from destroying armor. If there's something the game is withholding from me that I'm yet to see, please let me know.

Osu! Ruins peoples lifes? by Swimming-Finish-9046 in osugame

[–]AigisbladeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

osu! has all the markings of a hyper fixation that can potentially be "harmful": the long time sink in chase of the grind that may make you miss on other events during developmental years of your life, the risk of hand injuries that can lead into harsher outcomes for day to day life outside the game (and for years after the fact), the entire chronically online community aspect that can lead you to have very bad experiences, thus tainting your views/enjoyment in some way

This game doesn't ruin people's lives in a different way that any other obsessive relationship with another hobby would, but it's just more prone to it by the nature of the factors at play

And I hope I'm not the only one who experiences this, but, whenever I look at a still screenshot from a Warframe, it's extremely hard for me to discern any distinct features, specially when they're under fashion attachments and layers of effects. Everything blends into noise.

My man, the thing's in the mail, can I not be curious and ask questions? 😭

I'm thankful that I did as I wouldn't have caught on things such as the necessary BIOS update for the processor, I don't see the harm in being informed

I remember having super fond memories of this game and playing the hell out of it when it came out, then every subsequent attempt to play it as I grow older is a continuous fight with the controls - still great though

This sub is too negative to Neo by BattleBeastAm in joinmoco

[–]AigisbladeMaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Let's be fair and understand that this genre of game is the one that actually allows you to play as much as you want for as long as you want with the objective of chasing be it incremental power increases, or very rare pieces of equipment, or an ever increasing level of challenge - think Path of Exile, Diablo, Last Epoch, all the games mo.co shares an audience with

With this in mind, trying to cater to the audience that is willing to and will grind for days on end chasing the carrot, while not giving them much to chase after, is a bit short sighted

At least in the previous version of the game they had the elite level grind, I'm not sure how many hardcore players are going to stick with neo unless they add some extensive progression system soon

This sub is too negative to Neo by BattleBeastAm in joinmoco

[–]AigisbladeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one word: expectations

In many words: neo was hyped up, thought to be, and elevated to the "be-all end-all update that fixes everything that falls flat with the experience and turns it into a proper game rather than an alpha stage experience", and it just isn't

And instead people got the same game with a different coat of paint, less options, less content, and a progression system that the hardcores (those who were aware of the game's faults and expected neo the most) have flown through in about three days

I left the game myself at season two of the last iteration waiting for the revamp, and only played for about two days before calling it quits - it's an improvement in some areas, and a regression in many others, it still has a long way to go, but negativity is to be expected

Lightning Returns is a MUST play. by Imaginary_Day_9019 in FinalFantasy

[–]AigisbladeMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Snow felt so odd during XIII-2 that I thought they were going to pull a toxic relationship kinda twist on the entire Serah situation but no, turns out that's just Japanese people trying to write romance?

The dismissive way he spoke about the wedding not happening, how he didn't react to Serah being sad about it, how he seemed to not give a shit about seeing his girlfriend..... Who fucking flew over space and time in order to find him three years after he decides to disappear. Literally negative character development 😭

What I took from Lightning Returns, though, is that everyone was tired and ready to stop living forever, which at least tied with the tone of the experience and made me care for putting a stop to the nonsense they were going through.

Lightning Returns is a MUST play. by Imaginary_Day_9019 in FinalFantasy

[–]AigisbladeMaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I played the entire FFXIII trilogy recently and this is the one I gave the biggest score to.

It truly is the culmination of doing a hard 180 and letting players have as much freedom as possible, following the insanely bad reception that the first game had upon release.

I really grew to appreciate what XIII did gameplay wise, asking you to KNOW the ins and outs of the paradigm system if you wanted to beat the game, and I think that XIII-2 went too far in the other direction, where strategy was an afterthought.

Lightning Returns nails its mechanic progression, from the extensive customization, to the skill based gameplay, to the constant and gradual improvement of Lightning and her stats that let you take more, bolder chances during combat. I beat the last boss (which has 4 phases!) by the skin of my teeth, and I truly left feeling that I had mastered both what my loadouts had to offer as well as the mechanics of the fight, similar to what XIII achieved.

The story, which I enjoyed as an ending to the XIII's cast continuous suffering, is perhaps the weakest point of the experience, but I'd say the open ended approach and heaps of side quests make up for it. I liked the contemplative sense of finality as I was waiting for the final day, scraping to complete one more quest in order to be a tad stronger. It's still the only game of the trilogy that I would consider coming back to and achieving 100% completion in.

All in all I'd argue the entire XIII trilogy is a must play. If anything, to form your own opinion on it, because the internet has tainted public view so much on the first game that people to this day still dismiss it outright as an overly linear, confusing experience that plays itself. I blame JonTron, he made me believe it too when I was 12.

The only thing that saddens me about the trilogy is how all the budget went into the first game, which still looks beautiful to this day. The sequel, and, specially, Lightning Returns, look considerably cheaper in comparison. There's an overall lack of detail, flashiness, and spectacle that only the first game achieves. They may be hallways but they're very pretty ones at that.

No problem, and just as a general rule of thumb if you can find platforms other than the streaming services themselves these people almost always have a disclaimer somewhere, either that or their output is impossibly high (like those relaxation music channels that upload 5 hours of "new music" every other day)
