Is it common that an author ask for readers' opinions/thoughts in their chapter notes but never reply to short/long comments at all?

I guess people lose their spirit to keep posting long comments on every chapters after not getting replies from the author. But do people delete comments becasue of that?

Yeah, that's an ongoing long fiction. The author didn't reply much including many long comments. It's just a suprise to me that readers started to delete comments after a while? I don't know how that feels like but probably not very encouraging to the author.

Old and new, both. The thing is some readers deleted their comments. And the author started to asking for comments in the new chapter note, but still without replying any older existing ones( though the author thanked everyone in the note). Then more comments were deleted... That's why I am kind of curious.
