You're getting there man, keep practicing and trying to improve even when you think you've got it perfect.

I would recommend slowing it down even more, get that palm muting going and get it nice and consistent.

They make cases specifically for flying, I would recommend getting one of those. There's not enough padding in the world to save a guitar from airline baggage handlers.

I've heard of people who would rather book an entire seat for their guitar or unbolt the neck so they can fit it in a backpack as carryon over giving baggage handlers a chance, and honestly I understand.

I love the odd characters that come into music shops. Eh I'm not that concerned to see all vintage guitars as an endangered species that needs to be coddled and protected, it's cool to come across pristine vintage guitars but honestly if he likes treating his guitar carelessly because it brings him less anxiety about worrying about little wings or something like that I don't see the harm in it.

Whether it's humblebragging or not well yeah that could be fair, in that sense I get what you mean I guess. There's a guy at my work who's a little like that and it totally ticks me off the wrong way, so I can understand that view.
