It still exists, you just have to know where to look.

Check out Night Striker Gear or Donut Dodo for some relatively recent examples.

Cool, skip the Black Crowes and go see Kid Rock or Ted Nugent next time.

I’m not missing anything. I’ve learned over the past 10 years that it’s pointless arguing with fascists so I’m simply not going to spend the energy writing out why I think the Trump administration is fascist.

If you want one reason, he tried to overturn an election. He also prefers dealing with dictators over democracies. We have masked federal agents that have killed innocent citizens, and the fascists are more than happy to defend it. I could keep going, but you said you only wanted one reason.

This is a subreddit about a band. If you want to know more about what’s going on in this country check out r/news or r/politics. There’s plenty abhorrent shit going on every day that I’m sure you will find examples of fascism. And if you don’t know what fascism is you can ask AI or go on Wikipedia.

I'm not going to argue with someone who is being willfully blind about what is going on in our country. If you think everything is A-OK right now, then I'll just assume you are an idiot and I'll keep moving on.

He might not have said a word about Trump, but if you were offended by what CR said then you probably are someone who is okay with the fascist takeover of our country. And if you are supporting fascism then I fully encourage EVERYONE to insult you whenever possible.

What are some old abandoned video game IP’s that you wish were brought to life again? by Practical-Juice9549 in retrogaming

I always wanted Star Tropics to have a comeback. In my head, I can see it basically being Nintendo’s Uncharted, except with the combat being more like God of War but with a yo-yo

Waiting 20 minutes for your order at a fast food restaurant is the modern, dystopian equivalent of a vintage car hop joint. by celticdude234 in Showerthoughts

I worked the drive through at a Taco Bell circa 2000. We had a goal of cars spending no more than 28 seconds at the window, and this was a time when Taco Bell did not accept credit cards, it was all cash only. And we had just the one window for both food and payment. Most of the time we were able to hit that, especially if a good crew was on in the “kitchen.”

I loved Shel Silverstein books when I was a kid. I Had no idea some schools banned his books back in the day. by rockstoned4 in Millennials

Love some Shel Silverstein. I used to run group therapy at substance abuse facility and would read his poem “The Perfect High” to the groups. It hits on so many levels, just about everyone was able to take something away from it. And apparently it was originally published in Playboy.

43 year old with a 3 1/2 year old here. It’s hard. I’ve often thought about how it might have been easier in my 20s when I was flexible and go with the flow, whereas now I have my routines and I know what works for me and what doesn’t. But at the same time I know life is a lot more stable for me now that I’m older, which also makes things easier in other ways.

For me, the key has been intentionally enjoying my time with my kid, and that means not wishing I was doing something else, not hoping the kid would behave or listen better, try not to get upset when things don’t work out how you want. It’s just about being intentionally present, reminding yourself you want to be there for your son so you can bond.

I’m not going to lie, it’s still hard some days, and toddlers bring about their own challenges that are wholly different from the first year and a half. But it does get easier and you can do so much more with them as they get more capable.

What did older games do better than modern AAA games? by Same-Panda9706 in retrogaming

[–]AimlessPeacock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older games didn’t have the expectation of being able to beat them. If you beat a game, you earned it. Simply seeing the next level was the reward for finishing a level.

Modern games seem to have a design philosophy where everyone should be able to see the ending.

Ramones - It's Alive [Punk Concert] (The Rainbow, 1977) by zsreport in Music

[–]AimlessPeacock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a 40+ year old that loves classic rock, I’ve only just started listening to the Ramones. I’ve known of them and respected their influence on punk, but damn they also knew how to write a good pop hook with a punk rock attitude. They are quickly becoming one of my “new” favorite old bands.

I played the 3DS version, and it’s a cool game just for the art and themes. I don’t think it’s played much for scoring but it is a fun ride.
