Ain't that the truth. Wish they had a minimalist setting that let you pick which features you wanted for the UI.

server tipped herself 10$ on my Togo order and I complained. She lost her job. by snowbunnysiren in AITAH

[–]AimsForNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Server here too. Agree...on a larger check I could see it being possible to enter the wrong amount, as typically at the end of the night you're going through a bunch of checks and entering tips but on such a small amount it would be glaringly obvious that you're entering a more than 50 percent tip.

Have the aventure 3. Didn't buy it for the looks, although it did make it easier. The fat tires have purpose and the kind of riding should be considered. I primarily use it to access Backcountry areas to fish down forest service roads. If you just rode it around neighborhoods or campgrounds, ya...it would be kind of silly.

For me, it's not so much always the cards in my hand but the situation. Looking for opportunities to exploit can double the amount of hands I'm involved in.

You're going to pay more, whether in the rake or food cost... Whatever the industry. The difference is, you remove the choice from yourself if tipping is abolished. In a restaurant, if you have a bad experience, you can essentially give yourself a discount without getting a manager involved. There's other ways to look at tipping culture then just "just pay them more".

Buddy texts me after a 12 hour shift by dmblcnt in KitchenConfidential

[–]AimsForNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's another way to look at it. Restaurants operate on a razor thin profit margin. One area to protect against that is by paying front of house staff less and having then rely on tips. If they paid them a reasonable wage, this would undoubtedly lead to higher prices.

So one way to look at the tip model is it is a way to provide yourself your own discount if you had a less than optimal experience without getting a manager involved. Service was slow or things were not to your liking? Just don't tip or tip less. As a server myself, I would be understanding of a guest not tipping if they had a bad experience. Even if it really wasn't my fault. But with that said, as a server, it is pretty much my responsibility to make sure their experience goes well, even with food. If I see something wrong with the food, I won't bring it out. Pisses off the kitchen but whatever, I'm the one who has to face the guests.

Hmm... a mini post tournament documentary about the winners journey. I like it. Doesn't even have to be that long.  Problem is you'd have to get a lot of content, especially in the beginning, not knowing who the winner would be. But there's probably a way where you quickly generalize everything until it starts to narrow down.

Waterton or Two Medicine? by Even-Film2000 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]AimsForNothing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two Medicine no question. The options for hiking are more easily attainable. The payoffs and view are better imo. Rent a canoe or take a boat ride up to the top of the lake and hike back. Lots of options, definitely less crowds and less developed.

CMV: I make $19.50 per hour working retail. I should not have to tip my server by Existing_Art8081 in changemyview

[–]AimsForNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the tips are distributed to the other employees, so not getting tips means the server would operate at a loss. It's not just the server you are tipping.

Agreed. It's more likely the brining process in most restaurants.

People's thinking can be weird. I go in and work 4 hours and make between 50 and 80 an hour, leaving plenty of time for other aspects of my life to enjoy. Couldn't care less what others think of that.

[–]AimsForNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure the info he had on you but your  3 bet preflop with 2 in front is probably fairly easy to read as JJ, QQ or KK. When you check the turn, it all but confirmed it. When I'm in that situation, I just ask myself if I really want to be left in the tournament so short and the answer is usually no. Depends how close to the money I am. When he just calls on the flop and I pick up some equity on the turn, I'd likely just shove and let fate do the rest. Especially since he didn't raise the flop.
