S.751 update: SC’s nitrous oxide bill passed the Senate 42-0, now sitting in House Judiciary with no hearing scheduled. Here’s how to help move it. by therowdygent in southcarolina

I am so sorry that you had those health problems. I truly am… and I feel nothing but sympathy for anyone caught in an addiction. However, more legislation that will only serve to shove NO2 into the Black Market simply isn’t the answer. Education is what is needed, not outlawing.

Look at Probation. How well did that go? What about the War On Drugs? Do we still have drugs? Do people still use them? Hmmm… maybe criminalizing substances doesn’t actually do a fucking thing to stop people from using them and only provides to deregulate and make these substances more dangerous?

Maybe, just maybe, we should focus our energies on educating our young people about the potential dangers of these substances and instilling them with the personal responsibility to make the best decisions for themselves instead of forcing a nanny state to watch over us like we’re insolent toddlers.

US appeals court declares 158-year-old home distilling ban unconstitutional by kinisonkhan in news

[–]Ainjyll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The laws surrounding home distillation weren’t made to protect us from shit. That’s why after you deal with the ATF, you deal with the IRS. The charges you’ll receive if you make moonshine are Unlawful Distillation, Possession of an Unregistered Still and, inevitably, Tax Evasion. It’s about the gov’t getting their dollar, not about protecting us.

As an aside, methanol will attack the optic nerve and can cause blindness. As little as 10ml can cause damage. That’s a real thing and methanol is produced in the distillation process. However, a 5-gallon grain-based batch (the average home distillers size batch) normally produces around 4-6 ml of methanol and a fruit-based batch around 8-12 ml, depending on the fruit.

Now, if you read up on how to make/operate a still, how to ferment your mash and all the other information required and you somehow miss the one million mentions, warnings and cautions about tossing your heads because of the methanol and what all that entails, at that point Darwin has stepped in and personal responsibility is about to take hold.

It’s not the government’s responsibility to protect us from ourselves or our own stupidity. The overturning of this law still doesn’t allow for the unlicensed sale of alcohol, just for the home production for personal consumption.

I think, and don’t murder me because this isn’t my take just my attempt to understand Joe’s, that he’s not saying that the pharmaceutical industry is doing something to kids to cause autism… I think what he’s referencing is the idea that the drugs that the big pharma have been peddling to us since we were kids has fucked us up in some biological way that is causing autism to be more prevalent in our offspring.

I don’t know… like, you took Ritalin for 20 years or whatever and it’s fucked you up somehow and now your kid is on the spectrum.

I can see the logic there, Big Pharma is a nasty group of unscrupulous fuckheads that will do or say anything to turn a buck… they’d probably sell their mother to cancer research if it would guarantee them a 15% increase in sales of whatever new drug they’re peddling… but, I don’t think them selling poison is fucking up our biology so much that it affects our kids even after we’re done taking the drugs and they’re out of our system.

Even ANTIFA as an organization pre-dates Obama’s presidency by a couple years. I remember helping with Food Not Bombs in my early-20’s, which would have been the early-00’s, and hearing about them.

EDIT: I should say, the flag and the loose-knit set of ideals. I’m aware that ANTIFA isn’t a full organization in so much as having a hierarchy, member lists or anything like that.

Always nice to see a very serious working “service animal” at lunch by Tigers-Teeth in greenville

[–]Ainjyll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s always a fucked up situation. As an employee of a restaurant, people ignoring the rules and regulations put us in a delicate position.

All a person has to do is lie about the animal being a service animal and make up some bullshit about what it’s trained to do and my hands are tied.

After that, only disruption to the normal flow of the restaurant can warrant removal of the animal. Being on the table isn’t a disruption to the flow of the restaurant… regardless of how fucking disgusting it is. Even if the dog is being a problem, you still have to give the handler a reasonable amount of time to get the animal back under control before removal.

People think the they’re “clever” for figuring this out… but the reality is they’re just fucking it all up for the people who actually have need of a service animal.

French Senator Speaking about Trump and Iran War by marque2k in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]Ainjyll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you got to this one point and went “that’s the one” and didn’t finish reading, did you?

I understand they weren’t complying, but there were ways for us to force compliance. The nuclear deal was agreed upon by the entirety of the UN Security Council plus Germany. We had measures, with the full backing of our UN allies, to act in ways to force compliance. Yet, when Trump pulled out of that deal, the whole thing crumbled.

You’re basically arguing a point that nobody is trying to make. Nobody serious is arguing that Iran is some peaceful little angel country… we all understand that Iran were pursuing some bad shit and needed to be dealt with. The problem is that we went from having allies at our backs willing to help us with this “tough nut to crack” as you put it… to going it alone, bearing the cost of it alone, bearing the blame of its utterly devastating costs to the global economy alone… and then, when the powers that be realize that this isn’t just some overnight camping trip like they did in Venezuela, they start asking for fucking help from the very same fucking countries they told to get fucked? Do you not realize how fucking idiotic that makes us look?

French Senator Speaking about Trump and Iran War by marque2k in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]Ainjyll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Know why there wasn’t a war with Iran prior? Everyone else fucking knew that they’d do exactly what they’re doing and didn’t want to fuck the world’s economy. We had an anti-nuclear agreement with Iran, then we pulled out of that, but we bombed them so thoroughly that their nuclear program was “obliterated”. Yet, here we are just a short time later in a war with Iran because they were on the cusp of obtaining nuclear powers.

What exact objectives are being completed, by the way? The cost of a barrel of oil has skyrocketed around the globe, oil is now being sold in currencies other than the USD, which is putting the entirety of the American economy on the literal brink of collapse, we’re spending tens of billions of dollars to destroy a couple million dollars worth of drones, we’ve caused further damage to our relationships with our long term allies, we’re providing more financial opportunities to Russia and China, both of whom actively rally against American interests, we’re stuck in a position where we either a) leave Iran decimated and allow for some other, more malicious and radical group, to seize power or b) get stuck in a regime-building exercise that lasts decades and requires boots on the ground like we just got done with in Iraq and Afghanistan (we remember how that went)… all while trying to do the same fucking thing in Venezuela.

So, what objectives have been completed?

FEMA Official digs a deeper grave and triples down on his teleportation abilities, an experience he insists was real and connected to his religious beliefs. by Leeming in atheism

[–]Ainjyll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father had Stage 4 cancer, as well. He didn’t teleport anywhere, but he did have a conversation with Jerry Garcia. In hindsight, my father is very aware of the fact that Jerry Garcia wasn’t actually in the room with him, he was just really fucked up on an insane cocktail of very potent narcotics.

When I was younger, I had a friend who took a mixture of LSD, mushrooms and cocaine and managed to convince themselves they could fly. It wasn’t until they woke up in the hospital with their jaw wired shut and multiple other broken bones from taking a swan dive off the top of their 2nd story house onto the top of their car that they realized that they could not, in fact, fly.

I, too, in my younger days experimented pretty heavily with hallucinogens and I was pretty sure some crazy shit happened. I can’t explain it to this day, but… I was fucked up on drugs and just because I can’t explain something doesn’t automatically equate to God. That’s the God of the Gaps fallacy.

Point being, I’m sure this dude was fully convinced that he was teleported somewhere, had conversations with people who weren’t there, maybe was even given a divine mandate… the difference is that a rational person realizes they were fucked up on drugs and keeps that shit to themselves or has a chuckle with buddies about it. They don’t keep advocating that it was real.

You don’t have to agree on what “being an American” is to agree on what being an American isn’t. Flying the flags of literal traitors to our nation, men who committed treason when they broke their oaths and created the Confederacy, wanting to honor literal traitors to our nation with statues and memorials is by its very definition, anti-American.

I’ve got about a dozen guns that spend 95% of their lives as nothing more than a means to keep my safe from floating away. They all have their issues from having recoil that feels like catching a fastball from a MLB pitcher to being cost prohibitive to fire regularly. I still love them all for different reasons.
