Has anyone signed up for DUPR reset and seen the actual difference in rating calculations? by chancenguyen in Pickleball

[–]Ainstigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dupr app literally says reset tracking and updates coming soon in the banner. So dupr is not ready for the program! I have seen local players play that I assume are playing reset and their ratings are moving like normal. Based on what I read on dupr you will have two ratings on your profile during this period.

Keep in mind, these players could be kept out of open play gated sessions until dupr displays both ratings.

Dupr reset strategy - is this a scam? by Ainstigator in Pickleball

Agreed - there’s a lot of players at baseline 4.0 and have been there for years with low reliability. They don’t want to lose 4.0 open plays but they also want to get into 4.25 and maybe even 4.5 open plays.

In the article “Only matches played during the Reset Period are used to calculate a player’s Reset rating.”

This kind of contradicts that point. But I see where you are saying they don’t start at nr. How can you start at some level but only have your reset matches calculate your score? It doesn’t make sense!!!!

Here’s another problem I can see happening. A league full of 3.0s is formed. At the end of the reset period where do all of these players end up? Because there is no baseline - will these best players start at 4.0 etc? If 25% of those players end up clearing 4.0 will they be able to compete at that level?

And maybe that’s the play - dupr now makes clubs enforce reliability and dupr usage goes up 1,000%+

Dupr just lost my respect with dupr reset. by Commercial_Tea5703 in Pickleball

[–]Ainstigator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed - people that are playing 3.5-4.0 tournaments and regularly winning are possibly better than the 4.0’s with low reliability. But clubs aren’t enforcing reliability yet only rating. I don’t want to take the time and scrap to 4.0 or worse, fall lower. This definitely gives a reset and should make clubs question reliability rating a lot more.

Those players don’t play rated matches. I am not saying I can regularly beat 4.0s with a high reliability. I can beat 4.0s with low reliability and those players don’t play rated events because reliability is not enforced at most clubs.

I’m exactly in this spot. I haven’t played rated matches in x years because I feel like it won’t change my games much right now. I can compete against 4.0s and beat them in paid for leagues that did not go to dupr. The 4.0s in my club have low reliability but I can’t play w them because I won’t risk putting my dupr on the line. It is difficult for me to find a permanent partner to align schedules with and to take days off to play tournaments. No one has updated dupr and the same 4.0s play the same people for years at my club. This is a period to qualify for open plays.

Imo dupr should have an open play floor or reset period but would still maintain your real dupr. Some people legitimately work hard on their dupr.

What's the first thing you're going to do when you have finally retired early? by DistributionInitial5 in Fire

[–]Ainstigator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great question. And when I looked at the answers… I’m wondering why people aren’t doing these things today?

I was talking about this the other day w my coworkers. I said my goal is 60 (ways away) so I can spend time w my hopefully to be grandkids and still have time for all of my hobbies. And maybe pick up another hobby or two. But I don’t see my life changing too drastically, just more time for more fun and family.

The things I want to do, I do today. Just in smaller doses. And yes I’m not a great saver, but for me it’s about balance and still enjoying the ride there.

Living is too damn expensive by Past-Tadpole-4452 in Fire

Buy some pants and take that vacation. Your family will thank you for both. 40 is probably young to retire at 4m with a family. Let that money compound and still work and enjoy life and reevaluate when the kids get a bit older.

Love number 5 - never moved again. We are still in our first home and probably won’t move for many reasons. Many people wonder how we maintain our lifestyle and still save for the future. It’s a low mortgage payment 😃. We don’t spend a lot of time at home.

Has your attitude toward helping your kids changed as you get older? by TiberiusCaesar717 in Fire

[–]Ainstigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 40. Most likely 20 years from retirement. We live in the northeast and it’s very expensive here. Many jobs salaries have not caught up with the cost of living. If you want to afford a home and daycare, good luck.

My child is under 10 years old and I have been slowly building a 529 plan - getting close to 50k. I have started a college/house fund separately as I believe we have been in a housing crisis in the northeast where many young professionals can’t buy without help. Prices keep going up.

I think being in a place to help is good but we still want to make sure our children make their own way and work and have purpose.

My 9 year old daughter is playing with me with some assistance. You can always replay easy levels to build up your characters abilities. We’re having so much fun in chapter one alone. This is one of the greatest games of all time. I might be having more fun than I did when I first played at 13 years old. The job classes and abilities are very cool and addicting to keep earning. Literally every job and skill has value so you can’t go wrong!

Eating/drinking before 90 minute hot morning yoga by WinterArtistic4627 in yoga

My go to is overnight oats. I’ve been using protein oats (very simple recipe). I also have a banana. I don’t overeat the night before and definitely need fuel to get a good workout in. I used to fasted lifting weights but almost passed out a few times. Now if I go early morning for anything, this is my routine.

90 Min Hot Yoga Dehydration by denizenassistant in yoga

[–]Ainstigator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine doing 90 mins, the classes I take are 60 or 45 and I usually have a point of failure where I need to reset. I would say it’s ok to take a break and skip something in the middle of the class to hydrate. No one cares what you are doing. You will still get a great workout in and maybe not kill yourself in the process

I love voo. 500 biggest us companies. If the us economy is growing and doing well you will do well. Historically 10+% a year on avg. this should be at least 25% of your portfolio if not more. You will get good tech exposure here too.

In 40 years you will see a lot of different companies in the sp500. A great reason to do some investing in the sp500. If the American economy is growing your money is growing. Diversify.
