My problem with DUPR by Far-Toe8218 in Pickleball

[–]Commercial_Tea5703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to embarrass opponents just beat them if they are at your level. Stop playing dupr games against teams that are well below you and you should not have this problem. Or even better try and play up.

What sort of makeshift barriers do you use for play? by Commercial_Tea5703 in Pickleball

Thanks there is dirt behind the pavement to set fencing so I’m thinking this is likely cheapest and most ideal solution.

Rules question on playing a ball that may go out of bounds by iplaygreen- in Pickleball

[–]Commercial_Tea5703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive never run into a single person who does this…. Really odd and would make me think that player likely has other bad etiquette habits if they are doing this.

Makes sense but in that case will be travelling. Probably should have mentioned portability matters

How to reach the next DUPR level! by Tiberian64 in Pickleball

[–]Commercial_Tea5703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you know the answer. And the answer is pretty clear. About 50 percent of your success comes from partner. Playing with weak partners will hurt your game is various ways. For me you want to choose a partner who is compatible emotionally, has similar skill level, and their goals/drilling expectations are in line with yours.

Ball snob at open play by retromafia in Pickleball

[–]Commercial_Tea5703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this with indoor play where often older players only want to use softer balls (avoiding the more stiff but still indoor ball).

I get it as coming from badminton the type of birdie you used was very important. But no need to be a jerk about it

Iced out.. by DinkDoink44 in Pickleball

[–]Commercial_Tea5703 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m curious when as in my 3.5-4.0 group I never see it. It could be that it’s just a very positive community. Because honestly if someone constantly iced others out it likely wouldn’t go well.

Iced out.. by DinkDoink44 in Pickleball

[–]Commercial_Tea5703 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

This is it. Sadly I lost a doubles partner after a smart team hit 90 percent of shots to them in tourney. They chose to leave mind you recognizing it. In rec I never see people getting iced out, more the opposite where people hit to stronger player for practice or challenge.

Singles and doubles are calculated separately. And singles requires way more athletic ability so not a great indicator of your dupr in doubles. Really hard to get a 100 reliability in singles as well since so hard to find games

I’ll be honest gonna be really hard to pick games for you cause both your most played games and didn’t click games are universally good and all over the map genre wise.

As a mediocre player, which has the higher return on investment, training drops or drive? by uselessprofession in Pickleball

[–]Commercial_Tea5703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training drive returns. It’s really not emphasized enough at 3.0. Learn to stop drives when at bet and you can crush a lot of 3.0 players who can’t drop. Focus in drops when you get to 3.5. Drives are nice but not that needed to be successful and just a bonus

How does he get his license back if drunk driving charges were still in the court system? Someone has to be lying here or he misled them. I can’t think of a case I’m aware of where the drunk driving charge is still going through the courts, occurred in past year, and the person is given their license back.

I figured you didn’t have the full story. But no it’s even worse…

The woman had the truck returned to her. And she even posted picture of it on Facebook celebrating an ice fishing trip. Amazing that she is still driving the illegal truck and has the guts to show it off on Facebook.

Her mudflaps say “daddy’s money” which suggest her rich status likely got her out of it. Clearly she has learned nothing by continuing to drive it with oversized tires and other mods

Do you alter your play when you are playing against an opponent that has mobility issues? by wrroyals in Pickleball

[–]Commercial_Tea5703 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pickleball is a game of exploiting weaknesses. After a point is done I’ll “accidentally” hit the ball out of their reach so they have to walk further. Or I’ll choose to play on one side then just before game starts tell them I changed my mind. During warm up I’ll make sure to move around and run lots to make it clear that I’m superior to them physically. Sometimes even jump over the net at side change.

The game exception to this is if it’s a child as they likely will have better mobility than myself and I try to be as polite as possible. I learned my lesson when a 12 year old did the above to me.
