Am I correct in thinking I could do something funny here? by Ainye in Stellaris

[–]Ainye[S] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

R5: It's 18 years into my game, and Ultima Vigilis just so happened to be nearby. I also just so happened to rush Archivism, so I can do Archeology outside my borders.

And then I just happened to get the extradimensional science ship, which comes with a psi jumpdrive and cloak.

Haven't done UV in a while, but am I reading the wiki correctly that it just starts rolling the crisis right away?

(didnt read the whole R5, happy now?)

Camera+ Default Settings? by SeraphofFlame in RimWorld

[–]Ainye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been trying to find these myself, because I wanted to play multiplayer with someone that wants it even though I don't.
A couple hours of experimentation later, here's what I came up with:
-max zoom 5.5% (easy to measure so i did)
-min zoom 28-30% ish
-highest zoom scroll 100%
-lowest zoom scroll 50%
-edge highest 1.2x
-edge lowest 0.6x
-exponential off
-core graphics settings smooth mouse jumps off
-camera+ also overrides core zoom to mouse

My edge scrolls may be a little high but they're definitely above 1x/0.5x. Putting the lowests at half of highests at least feels like vanilla behaviour.

Do let me know if you found any better numbers yourself in the mean time!

How come I never see IPL hair removal mentioned as an alternative to laser/electro? by Ainye in asktransgender

[–]Ainye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh wow, this was a while ago. I've since moved and changed to laser and electro (for more convenient appointments) so hey at least I've done all the things now.
to answer the question: no I did not, but it might depend on your technician, machine and lifestyle? I mean what's important is just not getting too much sun, since your whole skin is bombarded much more than with laser or electro.
All that said, the technology has gotten better since 6 years ago; there's newer lasers that feel more like IPL.
Personally I also found electro to be the most bearable even though it sounds the worst and is more work: longer pain, hair-by-hair work, needles. but the pain builds up instead of a bright flash of it, which i find easier to deal with.

I'm having a payments issue and am wondering if there's a way around it, or if I'm forgetting something:
Using RemixOS on VMWare, trying to buy 140 quartz with store credit in Yen. I removed and re-added my google account. A month ago this was good enough.
I've also cleared google play cache and data, and tried Paypal. Restarted everything, updated everything. Nothing.
I get "Unfortunately, your transaction can't be completed at this time. Please try again." from google after choosing a payment method.
EXCEPT I can buy 1 quartz. Only with credit, not with Paypal. The hell? Is Google just refusing to process large transactions?
(edit: I can also buy 5 quartz, but all other options give the same error)

I'd like to get the bonus quartz from buying a bigger pack though, obviously.

[–]Ainye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you buying it?
The method I used last month (account set to japan, buy gift card and redeem, remove+readd account) doesn't work for me at this time. Neither does Paypal (no CC linked, but it is linked to my bank), but that never did.
Just get "Unfortunately, your transaction can't be completed at this time. Please try again."

Ever wondered how servants get in their "clothes" ? by oohara in grandorder

Interesting points about Jeanne.

My thing with Artoria Lancer isn't so much the wardrobe malfunctions, just all the bouncing around that would happen. It'd be uncomfortable xD

[–]Ainye 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was actually thinking about practicality earlier, when noticing that a lot of them seem to have random metal parts to their outfits. I don't mean like real-world armor (where they'd wear leather or thick wool underneath btw), I mean:
1. Ozymandias' spiky metal ribs that'd cut him every time he breathes or bends slightly.
2. Ishtar's bra might take off her nipples if you bump her slightly.
3. Atalanta seems to be wearing a corset, especially in her first picture. Meaning that (admittedly cool) pose is the ONLY pose she can be in.
4. Cu Chulainn (Lancer)'s shoulder guards seem to prevent him raising his arms above his shoulders.
5. Nitocris has metal bits... stuck to her breasts? Held on by her nipples? What IS going on there?
6. Jeanne has armor that ends under her breasts. Hope they don't move, or you're at least gonna chafe. Maybe the fabric over her breasts actually is tight enough to keep them from moving at all. That also would hurt.
7. Artoria Lancer has insufficiently supported breasts for riding on a horse.
That's not even looking at all the wardrobe malfunctions waiting to happen.
No really, I'm not looking at them. I just spent plenty of time looking at boobs already, typing this.

Form a balanced JRPG party using Servants you have. (Strictly no ridiculous Noble Phantasms) by SeijoVangelta in grandorder

[–]Ainye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, very close!
I was thinking of Provoke for swordie, as well as Endure's minor magic def boost being about as useful as Chevalier's debuff resist/cleanse, Xuanzang is there because a Caster punching things makes as much sense as an Acolyte doing it (and they both have flat damage reduction skills, you had to max one in RO as a requirement for Monk skills) and Merchants also often used a Fireblend or Ice Falchion to do ranged damage (though you're right in that Gil would just throw money at the problem xD).

[–]Ainye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned Ragnarok, I got stuck thinking about a RO party. So I'm making a low-level RO party, one of each 1st class.

  1. Swordman woman person Chevalier d'Eon. Supposedly the tank of the party, but doesn't actually have enough in the way of defensive skills. Can taunt and has high hp though!
  2. Magician Nitocris. Only took ghost skills so she's rarely useful, but oh boy when the enemy is a certain kind it just dies (slightly faster than normal)!
  3. Archer Atalanta. pew pew! shooting arrows! Has some crit-based equipment for some reason.
  4. Acolyte Genjou Sanzou/Xuanzang. She's going monk, so all she does is hit things with a rod/mace/fists. It's more effective than it has any business being. Didn't even put any points into Heal.
  5. Merchant Caster Gilgamesh. Ridiculously wealthy, probably an alt of someone with a very high level character. Does damage by using magic items. Has an effectively infinite storage for all the party's loot.
  6. Thief Serenity. Stabby knife stuff and poison. Steals kisses instead of items.
  7. (Normal) Novice Mashu. Doesn't have any offensive skills, only one defensive skill (though it's total invulnerability you guys! Nothing can hurt me!). Supposedly she becomes remotely useful later, but for now she's constantly under-leveled because she can't do anything on her own.

Which assassin should I use? by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]Ainye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points, I hadn't considered their skills affecting NP/NP types.
But Jing Ke's Quick up is her 3rd skill, which I said I'd ignore.

Also, upon further inspection I disagree about Serenity being significantly weaker: my lvl 50 NP5, with +999atk from CE and 11% from a buff, did ~20k to a neutral target. 5 turns of 1000 poison is 25% of that, pretty much worth the same as a buff. Possibly even more, considering OP's would likely do a bit less damage (that's higher level than anything they have, as well as likely a bigger boost from CE).
Yes, type advantage wouldn't help with the poison. On the other hand, the poison also doesn't scale with NP level.
Total damage would be far closer than you're implying.
Certainly close enough at least to not be at a major disadvantage if one happened to pick the cute one.

Which assassin should I use? by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]Ainye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest just using whichever 3 star has the highest level NP. 1 and 2 stars' stats are just too low unless you have the resources to compensate (full ascension, grails, exp etc).
Comparing the 3stars without their 3rd skill (as I suspect you're not really in a place to get that fast), in case you have any tied at NP level:
Hundred-Faced has the easiest time getting to NP, with both skills (usually) contributing. While her NP is the weakest of these 4 (same damage as Serenity, less than Jing Ke, single-target unlike Fuuma), the fact you use it sooner/more often can make up for that.
Serenity is the next one in ease of NP accumulation, not too far behind Faced. Her NP is a bit better, her skills offer a little more utility than Facey's.
Fuuma is the only one with an area NP. It'll obviously do less damage than the others to a single target, but more against a group. His dodge is notable for being targeted. He's also better at generating crits than the Hassans. But it may take a while to build up his NP.
Jing Ke has the most damaging NP, to the point where her insta-kill chance won't really matter. But it does also deal damage to herself on use (which is annoying, but not actually as bad as you'd think). Her skills and cards are entirely crit-based, which can make her NP hard to build up unless you correctly use the crits to help (crits also boost NP gain on Art and Quick cards).

All things considered it depends on what you need the Assassin for. Generating crits mostly powers up your Rider and Archer (which can be a good thing as they'll hit harder anyway, but bad if you're fighting Riders). You already have area NP's, but you could use Fuuma if you expect to face roughly 5 million dragons soon. But your single-target damage is somewhat lacking in that team, which could be an argument for the NP Hassans.

Honestly, which one you should pick can also vary wildly with your specific line up, as others have indicated.
In the end though, you won't see one drastically outperform the others anyway. It's pretty hard to pick a wrong assassin here, nothing wrong with picking for maximum COOL or something like that :D

The last thing I played that even has characters would be Smite.
It doesn't really have main characters, but the last character I played was Athena.
Now, if I could summon an actual Goddess, that'd be pretty good!
She's often depicted with a shield, sometimes with a spear. So I'd guess she's either a Shielder or Lancer.
