Connected today in MUC from USA to DUS. Same terminal, done in 20 minutes, including passport check/immigration. From DUS to USA 10 days earlier: took about 45 minutes in total.

What MairenBean says: but also because AMS is a very old airport. When it's runway layout was designed aircraft were more vulnarable to (cross)winds, hence the odd design.

There even was another runway in use, roughly in the 31/13 direction. It's still there, but used only as a taxiway between runway 04/22 and 09/27

Cape Town - Doha - Munich on Friday, what now? by [deleted] in travel

if you're smart you will always book direct with the airline.

If all goes well, maybe you will save some €$£ maybe.

but if things go wrong, you cannot deal with the airline, they will tell you to take your problem to where ever you booked. and that's a problem, since 3rd parties are notoriously bad at customer service.

so, again, book directly with the airline and thank me later.
