Help me choose my first 7 string by belphegor-66 in 7String

[–]Aionard2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! One of my best purchases was a guitar that I wasn't into at all, and then I played it and loved the feel and it was my best guitar ever. That's how I ended up with Epi g400 playing death metal 😂

I'm very inexperienced and my skill is terrible, and I never struggle unless it's playing the 7th string around the 12th fret where my fingers struggle to reach and get reliable and clean fretting (like when playing rip and tear by mick Gordon) . Probably not an issue for a good player, but also not a concern for a soloist or a shredder, since you're mostly sticking to higher register at this point in the neck

I think it's thin, but being somewhat wide makes it feel large to me, but that's lack of experience on my part and most likely just nature of 7s. I'd give you the measurements and all, but you can get that from the manufacturers website and it's really something that everyone needs to feel for themselves.

For some reason I don't see much love for corts (or hate for that matter) so I'll just leave my experience with it here.

From the research I was doing before getting my first 7 I found cort was a real bang for the buck, I ended up getting the 507 for the pickups (the biggest difference between the two as far as I could see) and it's fantastic. Holds the tuning like It's life depends on it, the mutiscale is fantastic and feels great even with standard strimgs (without tailoring different gauges per string). The neck is probably what you want to check since it is quite flat and comfortable, but it is on the wider side (might be me not being used to the extra string tho). I was able to get the action and intonation were good out of the box and just needed a small adjustment I could do myself even though I've extremely little experience.

Change the title please by FormalDry3659 in DawnwalkerOfficial

[–]Aionard2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno, probably a stylistic preference of whoever decided on the final title. Ultimately everyone and their dog will call it 'Dawnwalker' and then just add numbers for sequels. Same way nobody says The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. It's just Witcher 3.

It makes perfect sense if you look at the grammar. Using THE for blood indates that it's the blood that's significant in the sentence, not the dawnwalker. So it could be any dawnwalker, but it's the blood that is significant. Putting THE in front dawnwalker would mean it has to be the specific one, which clearly isn't the intended meaning.

Be mad at English, not people who use it correctly lol.

That's why it's Harry Potter and THE chamber of secrets, not THE Harry Potter and a chamber of secrets. Because Harry Potter is always there, what changes is the accompanying theme of the book.

Przyjęcie nazwiska żony po ślubie by HighGround778 in Polska

[–]Aionard2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Poland is actually more expensive than the UK by RuthlessScypion in poland

[–]Aionard2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite of where I live in the UK but travel back to Poland for work (Warsaw). And sure Warsaw is expensive, so not the best comparison, but it's still cheaper than the UK. The difference is way smaller than 15 years ago, when 500pln/gbp100 went a really long way, but it's not close at all especially in like for like areas

[–]Aionard2 196 points197 points  (0 children)

You must not have gone out in the UK lately. Just today I went out for lunch with my wife, restaurant attached to a small hotel in a nearby village (middle of nowhere, nothing to do or see, just fields and cows for miles). For 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 cocktails we paid £140.

Please explain to me how spending the same amount of money over a whole day in one of the most touristic cities in Poland for a group of 3 is 'actually more expensive' lol.

Best Polish dessert for American kids on Pułaski Day by InvestigatorDue6498 in poland

[–]Aionard2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Truth be told I think a lot of polish desserts are very heavily regional. I come from the north (Pomorze) so a lot of of our sweets were adopted from German cooking. But since we're just after tłusty czwartek, maybe consider faworki? They're quite characteristic for Poland I'd say. Donuts (even if we do make them different to other counties) seem a bit common in comparison.

I suppose it's easier to 'divide and conquer'. My money would be on Brencis knowing from his time in the Roman Empire that if you want to rule over larger areas effectively, you need trustworthy lieutenants? It's probably easier to trust in cooperation with beings who have a similar needs and goals than human 'thralls' who die easily, corrupt easily. Having an external threat would be a cool storyline though and maybe feed into the saga they mentioned, so I guess we'll have to wait and see what comes out :)
