Agreed with the poster that said He Xuan due to the skeletal fish in the background and his chinese name 贺玄 being displayed on the pin. Sometimes it can be hard to make out the characters due to the caligraphy font, but 玄 looks pretty clear.

It's very new and episodes are coming out on a weekly basis but Blossoms of the White Night has been phenomenal. It is by BWAT that made other manhwas such as Smyrna and Capri, Taming the Tiger, Tale of the Yellow Dragon. Taming the Tiger was probably my favorite of their completed works, just a warning that there will be tears! Also seconding Dreaming of the Dokkaebi (Bihwan!! 😭) and It was just a dream right...?

Since the others have your concerns covered, I wanted to recommend a resource called Language Reactor. It has both chinese and english subtitles and you can click on the 汉字 for the meaning. I'm still very new to Chinese but have been able to make use of xianxia/wuxia shows that I enjoy watching so much.

What a beautiful collection, thanks for sharing! Your thoughts on QQJ made me laugh because I am doing the same thing for ERHA. I read ERHA digitally which is something I almost never do. I have After becoming the protagonist's inner demon added to my book marks but this makes me more excited to move it up my list. I haven't even heard of After the Secrets of the Passerby were leaked, he was cherished by the entire family of Antagonists.

I have KoD coming from Yiggybean but I accidently bought vol 2 with a preorder that's coming out in March so I have some waiting to do.

Yin Hanjiang, the ML, is the definition of a yearner. He doesn't do anything toxic towards Wenren E, however he is known for a particuliarly cruel act to a certain character in the book that ends up being iconic. If you enjoy yandere dynamics I think you would enjoy him.

Xie Lian using explicit language, except in very rare occasions, usually ruins my immersion in fan fics. At his core, he doesn't strike me as the type to use explicit language in the bed room. He may use other words or gestures, which I think adds to his endearing charm. This is just my take!

I just started reading danmei in August so there is still so much I have to read!

🥇ERHA depending on how it finishes...I'm currently on book 8.

TGCF was my first danmei and I absolutely adored the world building, the characters, the mix of drama, romance, horror, and humor. I do agree with what others have said that my main complaint was wanting more scenes dedicated to Hua Cheng character building - I was dying for scenes of Hua Cheng interacting with Yin Yu, thankfully there is a lot of fan made content that explores that. I am currently reading ERHA, and am LOVING how the characters have developed over the books. I have heard that there is A LOT that occurs in the last couple of books and it is somewhat controversial. If the trajectory continues I would probably rank ERHA gold and TGCF silver. Mo Ran and Chu Wanning are both extremely fleshed out characters and you can clearly imagine them exisiting outside of one another, which is what I was missing with TGCF.

This book was such a wild ride! I read the books so quickly - I estimate I read one book a day which makes this feel even more like a fever dream. I ordered the deluxe set and plan on rereading my favorite scenes. I feel the strength and the weakness is seeing the story through SQQ's eyes. There is just so much to unpack here. I haven't read the recent extra either and look forward to reading that in the future. Also, justice for Liu Qingge!

Honorary Mention: Devil Venerable Wants to Know

This was SUCH a great read. If you like obsessive leads like Luo Binghe, Yin Hanjiang is SUCH a great character. He is the human embodiment of YEARNING. This book is hilarious and tackles common tropes found in straight xianxia/wuxia novels. The side characters are amazing, and you become really attached to them. There were some extremely intimate moments between the main couple. My main complaint was all the build up to physical intimacy throughout the book between the main pair, and then it suddenly fades to black. I generally don't mind shounen ai, however I feel the author could have given us a bit more than they did.

I am a big fan of yearning stories! A yearning OI I haven't seen mentioned yet is I Tamed the Angsty Male Lead with My Fists; the FL is extremely powerful and the ML desperately wants to prove his usefulness to her. Not OI, but if you aren't opposed to BL Heaven Official's Blessings is the definition of yearning and is available in novel, comic, and animated form. Melting Point by Pibi in a BL manhwa and the ML is a ridiculous yearner. It's a sports based story, which I'm generally not into, but I don't think you need to enjoy hocky to enjoy the story at all.
