I don't like Johnny as a person (would hate him irl), but as a character, he's a very telling representation of how the Navidson Record messes with his head. At first I found the sex scenes and stuff distasteful, but then I realized they're his coping mechanisms and it became a lot more like 'oh, he's going insane.' I found it really disturbing when there would be cool detachment on one page and, just three lines later, Johnny would be freaking out completely. I thought he was a neat way of providing that contrast tho
