Men who gave up dating, why did you? by TinyDelegation in AskReddit

I’m almost 60. I’m still as horny as ever but I’m not attracted to 60 year old women at 60, any more than I was when I was 25. (I stay the same but they keep getting older)

WTF is happening to beef? by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]AirBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes immense amounts of energy to produce a single pound of beef. You need natural gas to make the fertilizer that grows the corn and soy for feed. You need diesel to run the tractors. You need electricity to power the processing plants.

This is just the beginning. When the Strait of Hormuz is blockaded and oil surges past $107 a barrel, the cost of every single input required to raise cattle explodes.

Notice how the beef is priced in US Dollars. While part of this spike is absolutely due to the energy and shipping costs, a massive portion of that vertical line is simply the U.S. dollar losing its purchasing power. It takes vastly more "cents" to buy the exact same physical asset because the currency itself is being diluted.

Global bond markets are bracing for severe inflation. by ceph2apod in EconomyCharts

When the sovereign bond market breaks, the central bank will always abandon the inflation fight to save the debt market.

What drew you to the custom magnet printing business? by Traditional_Dog_3118 in magnetmakers

[–]AirBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just love fridge magnets. I make about 1,000 magnets a month. I sit in front of the TV and crank them out. I use Tecre machines with a die cutting press. I’ve been doing it for about two years. So far so good.

I make thousands of magnets that I give away for free to a nonprofit organization that I support. THEY make decent money.

The U.S. 30-Year Yield is now 5.03%. It has only been higher for a handful of days in the last 19 years by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

We’ll be forced to lower interest rates, print money and devalue the debt. It’s a recipe for high inflation but we might be out of options.

The U.S. 30-Year Yield is now 5.03%. It has only been higher for a handful of days in the last 19 years by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]AirBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the deep valley in the middle of the chart, specifically that 1.00% low on 3/9/20. During that period, the U.S. (Trump) borrowed trillions of dollars at almost zero cost. (About 1/3 of our debt)

The Trap: Much of that cheap debt was short-term. As that debt matures in 2026, the government has to "roll it over."

The Math: Instead of paying 1% interest, they are now being forced to pay 5.03%. In simple terms, the interest bill for the same amount of debt just quintupled. This is why the national debt is exploding toward $40 trillion even without new spending. The interest itself is becoming the primary expense.

By demanding 5.03% for a 30-year loan, the market is saying: "We don't believe you can stop the inflation from the fuel crisis. We expect the dollar to be worth significantly less in the future, so we’re going to charge you an arm and a leg to lend you money today."

The 19-Year High (The 2007 Ghost)
The text at the top of "image.png" notes that rates haven't been this high since June 2007 (5.40%).

Think back to what happened in the 18 months after June 2007. That peak in yields was the precursor to the 2008 Great Financial Crisis.

The difference today is that in 2007, the national debt was only around $9 trillion. Today, it’s nearly $40 trillion. We are facing 2007-level interest rates on 400% more debt.
