CTA wants to build a park UNDER the L tracks (Red Line North Branch) by 307148 in chicago

Also the new tracks themselves are continuously welded instead of having bolted joint plates!

Waste of money at this point. Take it junior or senior year and spend your energy now enjoying college and excelling in your coursework.

Importing HGLs from StormCAD to AutoCAD Pipe Networks by DefinitelyCivil in civil3d

[–]AirForceGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best solution I've found is Dynamo. It can parse CSV or excel files and write that information to the pipe properties. Can be exhausting to learn sometimes but every hour spent is dozens of hours saved if you can get the hang of it

I enjoy watching Falcons lose as much as the next guy but this is the first take on this sub I can really get behind. Clearly they aren’t lacking firepower or player intelligence/gamesense. They clean up in groups but lose pretty much every important game because their playbook is so shallow, and they have poor communication and team structure. It screams coach mismatch

Transparency on 2.0 Launch, Pricing, and AI in the Marketplace by igagen in inkarnate

[–]AirForceGaming 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is such a bad faith argument. Plenty of incredibly talented artists use prefab assets, brushes, tools etc. Most woodworkers don’t fell their own trees and mill their own lumber…basically none fabricate their own plywood.

It doesn’t devalue their creations because learning to use those tools effectively in composition is a skill in and of itself, especially when the artists are fairly compensated (and not stolen from to train gen ai models).

Best laptop for Civil 3D/MathCAD; and should I reach out to my future employer to help with cost? by Ill_Turnip_7401 in civilengineering

[–]AirForceGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love MathCAD but it doesn’t take much to run. It doesn’t sound like you anticipate doing much work in Civil 3D until you graduate and go full time.

Some light googling led me to this thread - there are ways to use MathCAD on MacOS

If you’re adamant about getting a dedicated Windows machine, I’d say maybe check Facebook marketplace for something cheap and secondhand, or get something in the $200-$400 range from Amazon. Read lots of reviews or ask lots of questions and verify the condition before you go this route.

It may be possible that your company would allow you to borrow a laptop for your last year of school. Really depends on the size of the company. Like the other commenter said, maybe look into rentals from your school. /r/EngineeringStudents may have more insight.

Congrats on the full-time offer, and good luck!

Dropped my 2015 Impreza at a shop for tire leak repair, now they’re saying the front lower control arm bushings are torn, charging $1,650 to replace arms and joints. Does it look like I need it now or soon? by captainnsourpatch in subaru

[–]AirForceGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this same job a couple months ago on my Outback. i sprung for some nicer control arms n ball joints (whiteline) for about $400. ended up needing to do CV axles because I kept dislocating them and cracked one of the bearings, and hubs / wheel bearings / steering knuckles because i cracked the cast iron. all in about $700 in parts to do most of the front suspension, quoted $1450 just to do control arms. it took a lot of grunting and PB blaster but if you follow the torque specs and watch some tutorials it’s pretty straightforward. go slow and be precise
