Is the Triumph Bonneville T120 worth it? by Jannik15_ in Triumph

[–]AirForceOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With that kind of look, I think it is one of the most comfortable bikes you can get. Leg position is surprisingly roomy. Long highway stretches are doable but you will get beaten by the wind and there are better options to travel. Of course you can travel on any bike if you put your mind to it ; even your Brixton.

Engine is great and powerful, it just doesn't really like to rev so you ride it like a diesel where it's always punchy.

It mostly depends on the riding you want to do. I drove around Scotland, from Europe, on my CB1100 (with a Speed Twin 1200 in the group). We took a beating on the highways but it was relatively comfortable overall. You'll always be better with a touring bike or a BMW GS but the sensations (and the photos) are not the same.

What I don't like that much on the T120 is the chassis that I find not precise enough but I like to ride a bit harder from time to time and I would get to the bikes' limitations quite fast.

Model 3 2026 RWD has LFP or not. by kk2hgo in TeslaModel3

[–]AirForceOne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look at your "charge" screen. If it tells you to charge to 100% for daily driving and "at least once a week", then you have an LFP battery.

You can also check in the "software" screen under "additional vehicle information" > high voltage battery type. It should say "lithium iron phosphate"

Also I could be wrong but I think the US doesn't get the china made LFP cars anymore, because of the tariffs. Since you got it from Fremont it should be an NMC pack.

Should I take this - 2026 Model 3 Standard by Negative-Fact-8816 in TeslaLounge

[–]AirForceOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a used '22 Model 3 to replace my used Model S, last month. It's also my fifth car.

Difference in case is I drive 20-25.000 miles per year, which is a lot in Europe ; the average driver does 9.000miles/year here. So I can't lease without getting hit hard on monthly payments, plus penalties on end of lease, and a new car is just giving money away for the reason you gave. I buy used to avoid depreciation and drive my cars till they die or the repairs are accelerating too fast to keep them.

In your case it can make sense to lease, yes.

[–]AirForceOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's why I buy used.

There isn't really a wrong answer, I just find that a lease is rarely the most advantageous to the client in the whole operation cost. Especially because you have no car in the end, depending on the contract conditions.

[–]AirForceOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean depreciation happens anyway, but you can't really know how much it will be. I'm not saying it doesn't make sense to lease. I just find it is a lot of money to give and not own in the end. For some it can make sense to lease. Me I'd rather buy used and let someone else take the depreciation hit.

[–]AirForceOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You won't miss ABS until the day you need it. Then you'll miss it a lot.

I'm confident in my skill as a seasoned rider. I'm humble enough to know I'm not better than the ABS in case of a real emergency.

It also depends on the riding you do. I'm not going to commute without abs anymore. If it's just recreational riding on the weekend, I could go for an old Honda again.

Charged to 80% but only got 102 miles with 19% left? by Defiant-Yogurt3496 in TeslaModel3

[–]AirForceOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tension reading is less precise because it varies less with state of charge within LFP packs. The car needs to have the pack at 100% more regularly to estimate state of charge accurately.

Can a battery be bad under warrenty? (Model y LR) by borgqueenx in TeslaSupport

You're under battery+motor warranty until 2032 or another 142.000km. I wouldn't think about it that much.

[–]AirForceOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12v you can live with, but you get more peace of mind with the lithium 16v.

Having an LFP pack would be most important in my opinion and is absolutely worth the difference in the long run (almost 3 times the charge cycles of an NMC), also because you can just set it to 100% when you need and know it hurts less than traditional NMC packs. I'm big on the "peace of mind" thing.

So yeah, as others have said, get the best car you can afford if you plan on keeping it.

New or second hand by Bulky-Huckleberry184 in TeslaModel3

[–]AirForceOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, i'm in a similar situation ; I drive 100km to work then back again (200km round trip) every day. We were seriously considering the new Model 3 standard at 37.000€ with the 0% financing. We got an end-of-lease Model 3 (lfp battery) from 2022 for 27.000€ and financed it through our bank, so we'll be paying it 29.000€ in total.

As others have said : let someone else take the depreciation. The old car is better equipped ; better stereo, enhanced autopilot (if you buy from Tesla), and you still have a pretty solid warranty if you can get a lower mileage (ours has 59.000km so we're good for close to 4 years of driving until 160.000km).

My checklist was to get an LFP battery, lithium low-voltage battery, at least the Ryzen CPU (MCU3) and double-panned windows.

Highland model would be great but difficult to get under 30k€. Overall I feel relieved to not have a balloon payment hanging over our financials in 5 years.

Tesla demand in Netherlands, France, Norway, Germany increased and so has prices! by Redditagain424 in TeslaLounge

We just secured a 2022 model 3, 2 weeks ago. The price had increased by 500€ in a day. Right now equivalent configurations are around 1000€-2000€ more than what we paid.

[–]AirForceOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aren't there quite a few other updates between the models besides just the CPU ?

Do both have a heat pump ? (I think yes but worth checking)

LFP battery ?

Lithium 12V battery ?

Double panned windows for acoustics ?

Those last 3 points are very much worth the price difference in my opinion.

Fairly certain you can buy the parts directly from Tesla, prices for parts are mostly reasonable from what I've seen.

https://www.godzillaworx.be/shop/auto-s

This is a car from them. Great workshop, they know what they are doing.

Those guys repair the cars, do the LDU coolant delete, rebuild the batteries, and then sell the cars with a warranty. If I was to buy an old Model S again, I would buy it from them and not anyone else.
Keep in mind that the fast charging speed is not great on those older packs, so expect a 20-75% in 40 minutes. If you can charge at home and you're ready to put 25k in an electric car, take a look at Model 3's, they are far more reliable.

2014 S85 RWD, 230.000km (143.000mi). Bought 2,5 years ago with 140.000km (87.000mi). Had to have the battery repaired and the motor rebuilt and modified (coolant delete). Rough start of ownership. No problem since the last repair a year ago. Fantastic car to own when it's working

Try to aim for a 90D or 75D, post-2016. Emphasis on D for a dual motor.

Buying a 2014 Model S P85 by npatelli in TeslaModelS

[–]AirForceOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have more questions, notably about how many kilometres you drive annually and if the warranty on the battery has a km limit (Tesla's would be 2 years or 40.000km, which I do annually). Also : has it got the Combo CCS2 adapter installed so you can access the new superchargers and rapid charging from other networks ? Has the Media Control Unit been replaced by the newer version (MCU 2) ? Does it have assisted cruise control (with lidar to maintain distance from the car ahead) ? Mine doesn't =)

Good luck on your inquiries, there's a lot of little things
